We had one just like this in our attic a rare horizontal all tan one from 1992 but it was replaced in 2019 bad heat exchanger unfortunately but we got a new Amana furnace

I’m at my grandparents and they have one, but it makes a squealing sound after the flame shuts off. The flame comes on the second the enducer motor finishes starting up in the ruud out grandparents have
My favorite is Trane XE80. The enducer startup is awesome sounding with a nice flame cycle and quiet sound. It is very reliable we have had little problems on on it. This is my 2nd favorite furnace for sure

I remember having this kind of furnace at our old house when I was a child, and the noise caused by the inducer motor and how it ascends in volume as it activates scared me. It was so unusual that I would be scared over that noise as a child.
It should be on the opposite end of the row of burners from the igniter. Just look for a small rod that doesn't glow orange before ignition and that is the flame sensor.
Why can't any of the furnace companies make a draft induction motor that is not as loud as a jet taking off? Don't they realize that many of these are in people's homes and not in an attic or garage?
I think Rheem/Ruud and the Century/Comfortaire they manufacture for Heat Controller, are as good as anything going. They're about as good as Trane, but more affordable.
I replaced about everything there is to get it running but I think it's the flame thing I don't know what it's called it's where the pilot is next to it is a pointy thing that's what I think it is cuz I have to hold the safety door switch and then put it on fast so it will stay lite up any ideas
@mt90945557 I have the same problem and read that you can clean the tip of the flame sensor (located between the 1st and 2nd burner on mine) with emery cloth or steel wool and it should solve the problem.
Hi. Not sure if you will see this, but thought I would try. I have a furnace pretty much just like this. We were out of town for three weeks and now, we think, the pilot light it out. Do you happen to know how we relight it? We don't see where the pilot light might be. We also don't see the work pilot on the on/off knob like most other videos show. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. thank you
This type of furnace doesn't have a pilot light. It uses a hot surface igniter which is the glow in the video. The igniter starts glowing 0:43 and shuts off after the burners light at 1:08.

But it was one in a attic from 1992 all tan one but the heat exchanger had a huge hole in it do to overheating because of the gas pressure not set to 3.5 inches of water column it got way to hot

actually it is a different model. It only has three burners. I have looked for the flame sensor and have not found it or where you could attach it. Is it possible that this furnace does not have a flame sensor. The model isUGDG-07EAUER.

the small form factor of it makes it impossible since the blower wheel needs cooling too

You should check out the new ruud 2 stage quiet 80, thats what you want.

Way too long to ignite. No reason it couldn't have been made to ignate in less than 10 sec.
Yeah that does make me mad. When I am freezing my ass off I want it on quickly but it does take forever.
What if the ignitor doesnt glow is it bad or something else. And where the heck would i buy one of these for my older lady neihbor please.
You need to measure the electrical resistance of the igniter to determine if it is bad or not, as well as if it is even getting voltage or not
either its bad or you could have a bad circuit board

Hi I can really use someone’s help. After my flame goes on it only stay on for about 5 seconds than shuts off. Any suggestions?
Flame sensor is either dirty or needs to be replaced.

yes it doesn't have one it uses the ignitor to sense the flame via flame rectification.
I have the same exact furnace yes it does have one that sits in front of the far left burner
mine lites then goes back out after a couple seconds its a ruud furnace i think i would rather deal with the pilot lite it was easier.
