  • Heater / furnace fires up then shuts off with led flashing error code = LED Flashing RED four times = "Limit Switch Open" / Open Fuse - Any ideas? Furnace will repeat the sequence - never getting the house over 62-65 degrees. Checked 3 Limit switchs all ohme out, cleaned temp switch * looks like rod in front of burner, and checked all connections. Still keeps giving error.

    I am sorry it took me so long. I was running tests and merely removed the return filter completely - my system started working again just fine. CHANGE THE FILTER! Test without it in - maybe the filter is a cruddy cheapo or has just enough junk in it to do what you are seeing. In any case replaced with new filter - no problems even till today.. all running great.

    Best advice call a qualified service company, could be gas pressure, fan not blowing fast enough, clogged filter, clogged AC coil, Cracked heat exchanger just to name a few.

    Yes Ronnie I was referring to the house return filter - big square one gets changed out.
    PS no crushed duct work I can see and no clog of any vent / exhaust. I do not know where this coil some are refereing to . I see no way of opening the chamber to the left of the burners ... is the screws on the back of the unit for access to the coil? Ill check it if I knew where it was... thanks!

    hi , my furnace have short cycle and then I follow your structure and cleaned flame sensor , it is work but just only for about 4-5 h ,and then we have to turn it on again and they work about 4h and then stop again. Can you tell me what wrong with that? Thank you for your time.

    Hi Charles Q it would be great to hear your results. Again, The heater will run fine if I jumper wire out the limit switch. The limit switch I'm talking about is the larger black square one one on the wall next to the burners. You can see it right behind my gas flex connector on the valve.
    The HIGH LIMIT SWITCH you are referring to , is it one of the 2 little ones on the side walls you see me zoom in on at 5 mins and or touch in the video? I have not replaced those two.

    My furnace only turns on when it wants to. I am told by my heat guy that when their is moisture in the venting the furnace turns off, this started happening a year after the new install. I am frustrated, Please tell me what this could be my air filter is new. V

    might be heat limit switch, they get a build up of dust and dirt on them which insulates the sensor and the heat chamber and sense the fire box or output heat is to high and shuts down the burner, then it cools and goes back on. something is getting to hot and a sensor is shutting down the furnace, bad sensor or the sensor is not reading correctly due to build up of dirt or filter plugged or ?

    what error code are the four flashes on the board ? looks like a bad board.

    • @cristiannieves3757
      @cristiannieves3757 Před 3 lety

      The error code indicates an open limit switch or fuse and usually means the furnace is overheating and tripping the high limit although they can also start to fail and cut off at lower temperatures

    OK - it continues to do it, I just have not been keeping this log up. We have definitely found the issue it is the the Limit Switch, replace it and it stops. I can bypass the limit switch with a jumper wire and it will work perfectly... its eating limit switches. This will be our 3rd or 4th one since this video posted ... what the heck. Ideas?????

    hey,you should check your flash codes located on the panel,and let us viewers know what the issue is and how to fix it,it can be from the flame sensor,pressure switch,high limit switch,rollout switch, or just simply the board is fucked up

    I suspect that you fixed it already, but if not, I had the same problem and was able to solve it by cutting open another intake into the side of the furnace. So the end result was that the blower now was getting air from 2 sides. I made a youtube vid of it you can see if you click on my name.

      Hi to resolve this problem after 6-8 service calls and replacement of everything from a larger gas pipe diameter to circuit boards, to venting items, to filters, to limit switches, and the like - A SOLUTION WAS FOUND! We replaced the entire YORK system with a TRANE and have never had a problem again at this home. Thank you all for reviewing but if you have this problem with this system - GET RID OF IT!
