If I may, I'd like to share a quick motorcycle restoration story. I retired in 2002 from the U.S. Air Force, after 20 years of service. Back when I was on Active Duty, I would buy and sell motorcycles on the side for additional cash to support my family. Once my Wife and I stopped at a really nice home that was having a yard sale. While there, I noticed an older Honda XL 75 in the corner of the garage. I asked the home owner if it was for sale. He told me "sure" but the bike had not been started in over 10 years! The bike was really clean. After hand-washing the bike, it looked almost new. I removed and cleaned the fuel tank and carburetor, and replaced the small battery with a new one. I also changed the motor oil (no filter) on this little bike. Then, after only three kicks on the kick starter it fired right up. After just a few minutes, it was running as smooth as a new sewing machine. I came into the house to tell my wife how well the little bike was running. During this time, my neighbor knocked on my door. He wanted to talk about the little bike and if it was for sale. I bought that little bike for $200.00 dollars. I really did not want to sell it so, I thought by offering an expensive price he would not want it. So, he asked me what would it take to sell the bike? I said, $1500.00 thinking this to be too expensive. He told me to hold the bike until the next day so he could stop by his Credit Union to get the cash. Sure enough, he showed up with the cash and bought my little yard sale Honda. I made $1300.00 in less than 48 hours! A couple of days later I saw the little Honda being loaded into his Son's pick-up truck for his younger son. I'm sure the little boy was thrilled. In the end, I was happy for the extra cash I made and the Grandson was happy to own his little Honda. Looking back, that was most likely one of the top ten bike sales I made as far as profit is concerned. Look forward to seeing your restoration project finished. Take care.

Thanks for the video, I may be starting a very similar project on a green 72' and your videos may be a bunch of help for me.

Pulled a baseball sized "whop" dent out of my Spirit fuel tank using a wood dowel and hot glue but it was NOT a crease. The good part...no paint damage.

Enjoying your videos. Helping my son restore a 1978 CB750 for his senior project and facing similar issues on the exhaust pipes on his bike. I'm curious what you ended up doing with those. If you get a chance to do a video on those, it would be much appreciated
