- In the middle of One Direction's stint of fame, Harry is overcome with stomach issues during a concert. He has to leave the stage multiple times to vomit and compose himself enough to continue. His bandmates are confused and unsure how to proceed without him and his vocals - Pittsburgh on 7/8/2013,
Despite Harry's health, he continues to entertain millions across the world.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate how sweet Liam's concern for Harry is? I feel like people don't appreciate the friendship of 1D as much.
Liam always cared so much, and he seemed a bit concerned for Harry a lot of the time.

I agree, yet I don't. When you sacrifice your well-being, and quite possibly, make things worse for yourself (and really, everyone else too) - why is that a win? I just don't understand why we encourage this kind of thing instead of letting him be ill, rest, and recover. Sure, it sucks, he'll miss a few shows possibly, but him being sick (like he is in this video) is better? And the risk of getting them all sick, too. I don't know. I just wish he would've been allowed the opportunity to sit this one out. He may not have wanted to because it's a horrible feeling to let fans down. (Especially those who may only ever see him perform this one time.) I don't know...it's a sucky situation every which way...

I would be having a full panic attack if I was in Harry's shoes. I hate the feeling of throwing up and have ever since I was a kid. I have to give credit to Harry though. He really did pull through and even tried to keep going even though he was sick

They are incredibly supportive of each other, imagine how they long they would have to practice for these eventualities if ever unfortunately something like this happens. That’s a true band dedicated to giving an amazing performance no matter who sings they’ve each got each other’s back, it’s hard to hear what was said post 1D about how some weren’t even that close. You’d never tell as they’re so supportive of each other they seem like brothers in it together it blew my mind and hurt my heart when it came out that they weren’t as close as everyone thought I can only imagine how the other lads thought when they heard what was said. 🥲🖤

I don't know why but I both love and hate watching these. You do a fantastic job on them. I swear there was one in Melbourne I think, where he was really sick. I remember in the talky bits, Niall asked him how much he loved Australia, and he said "I love Australia so much it hurts my stomach" Which is a far better answer than I could ever come up with while sick lol.
Haha - that's a funny answer. I wanted to do one on the Melbourne sickness, but there's not a ton of footage. But I'll probably throw something together on that night as well. I have a few others that I'm working on too - poor guy is just sick so much! I agree though - it's a love/hate relationship with these. I love Harry, but he just pushes through so much sometimes.
This poor lad is sick so much that we have an whole entire youtube channel dedicated to his health issues… and with him @My Mind Mood we shall never run out of content cuz he will always find something else to come down with… i just hate seeing him ill all the time and i just want him to get rid of his cough once and for all… am i asking for too much here 🙁
@@cicicave1279 He seems to still have some breathing issues (believed to be asthma) on his current tour. But he is a lot healthier now. Back in the early One Direction days, these boys were overworked and exhausted, which likely led to Harry’s health problems. Although we don’t know the details of his health, so we can only speculate.

It wasn’t necessarily his not taking care of himself but more their management didn’t let them rest if they were unwell..Harry was extremely sick in the You and I music video and in clips of the behind the scenes he’s sleeping on a bench with his coat as a blanket 🥺he’s kinda like a giraffe…he’s super tall and just gets sick easily. Poor Hazza
To be fair, being on a stage you feel every vibration. I, myself, have motion sickness, and I can barely stay in a bass heavy concert for longer than an hour. Props to him for staying strong. That is hard to do.

True artist, any non directioner wouldn’t notice any different as his talent shines though but he must have been suffering the entire time but as his fans and band mates are his priorities he just powers through. No because that makes me so mad. If this really was his choice to still perform, I really respect that, even though he should’ve just take a break and rest. I know he probably didn’t want to disappoint the fans but we all know how it feels to have a stomach flu. But I really think management played a huge role in it, too. And I hate that they forced them to perform or give interviews when they were obviously sick and feeling unwell.

Harry was sick alot especially during the last year or so because he was the one who got the high belting ones and especially after Zayn left, management put alot of pressure on his voice because its that much stronger than the others (it's 3 octaves where as the others are like 2 or 2,5)
He was told by a doctor once that he could either perform or sing and he'd choose to sing

He was sick a lot before Zayn left too. I think he was just overworked and his body couldn’t recover.

He had a few vomiting episodes on stage on this tour in 2013. Not sure what that was about, but it hit him near the end of the concerts and he had to run off quickly.
@@MyMindMood was it anxiety induced… and looked really pale as well…somewhere i heard that bronchodilators cause relaxation of smooth muscles which relaxes the esophageal sphincters and thats why people who use asthma inhalers have involuntary episodes of vomiting and gastric reflux

@@sammylj3644 Hard to tell why he got sick during this tour so much. I know he had dealt with some nausea/vomiting early on as well during XFactor. I don't think it's incredibly common, but bronchodilators can cause nausea, vomiting, and acid reflux. Maybe most people don't notice or care though because they'd rather breathe. Acid reflux and vomiting can make asthma worse as well.
This shows how strong he is and how lovely he is (and how he sacrifices himself for all his amazing fans)

Chewing gum was a good move. I get motion sickness and migraines and always aggressively chew gum to quell the nausea, and get rid of the taste of puke.

This absolutely breaks my heart. Poor Harry was worked so hard and it makes me SO ANGRY at management. He clearly gave them signals that he’s DEFINITELY NOT OKAY! I know the horrible feeling of concentrating trying not to puke..but I can’t imagine how Harry felt on stage in a crowd of THOUSANDS of people. And afterwards he said that he ate too much but what if he was lying. What if he really was sick and management told him to say that.
I’m sure he was lying. He used to eat bananas on stage all the time. Plus, he didn’t get sick until an hour+ into the concert. He had been hospitalized for vomiting back on XFactor too. It’s just a shame that he felt like he had to continue.

I think this is the one where he said he ‘ate too much prior to the show’. This same thing happened in Melbourne but there wasn’t an explanation about that. I also heard that for this one, someone said that vomited due to being dizzy and over heated.

To be honest, i'm suprised things like these didn't happen on regular basis. They were so so overworked and tired. Liam was struggling with his alcohol addiction, Zayn with his anxiety and the others must have had many bad days as well. Kinda hurts how they had to fake it. Sadly, i know my teenage self wouldnt have understood if one of them couldnt come. As i'm sure most of their fans back then wouldnt. We can see so many new bands having the same problems with exhaustion and mental health struggles. There NEEDS so be a change. Give these young people more times off. Not every member can run the same speed as the others. Being popular is great but those 3-5 years of being at the top will leave many scars and thats not worth it. Im sorry for ranting.
Couldn’t agree more. There are so many videos of BTS members collapsing of exhaustion, and I’m sure there are/have been others. I can’t imagine the pressure.

Harry really did have to push through and keep his fans entertained, but it isn’t his fault that he feels sick. He had to just step aside and have a moment to himself. I would be panicking if I was in his shoes. Imagine trying to not throw up in public? I really have to give him credit for actually trying though. Thanks to his bandmates, his parts are all covered. I would love to have bandmates like this, trying to entertain the audience.

reminds me of the time when harry was crying before the concert because he felt like if he opened his mouth he was gonna throw up and nial gave him a hug and zayn patted his head.
apparently, for like the first two years of one direction, harry often threw up before they preformed because of nerves. its so awesome to see now though, his asthma is better, he doesn’t get a stomachache before preforming, he’s extremely confident, and he talks a lot faster. he’s come so far and im so proud of him. 💚

I was to young to live through those days back then but just now becoming a big Harry fan I am trying to relive the memories that my sister got to live, I love how Zayn and Liam was so concerned about our baby!!
