+Jazmane Plauger that's what I was thinking too after watching the video, you may disagree with the choices of someone but if you still love that person and care you defend him/her from other ppl especially not family. This shows to me 2 things, 1 they're were extremely colse minded, 2 or they just didn't care and money comes in the first place. Usually the second one is true for ppl who have money.

There are laws that protect against discrimination in regards to race, religion, disability, age, gender, and creed - but usually not sexual orientation or transgendered issues. Technically what happened here was not illegal, especially she was hired as a male. They are allowed to have gender specific dress codes. Not saying it's right - but that's the law as it currently stands.
I think there has to be give and take on both sides.

    • @kairishahad
      @kairishahad Před 8 lety

+Z J Bee "transgendered" is included in gender.
Also, transgendered isn't a thing. That's like saying dancered or buildered; it doesn't work as a word.
Yes, she was hired under the identification of male. But what should've happened is that they gave her time off so she could transition, and they could receive a note from her doctor saying that the transition is a medical necessity.
Even if they didn't give her time off, the note from her doctor would 100% be cause for legal action against the restaurant for discrimination on the basis of medical circumstance; if they did want to try and say it wasn't discriminatory based on gender. At least in most states.

    • @shaggystonerable
      @shaggystonerable Před 8 lety +4

Nicole Hadda Under the current federal laws, transgendered individuals do not fall under the gender discrimination clause. That law was specifically setup for biological women. I'm not saying this is right - just the way it is as of now. It needs to be changed.
Also, I agree about the doctors note. However, she never gave them anything like that. She also quit on her own behalf, she was not fired as the title of the video suggests.
Under the current laws, the owners did nothing wrong. Again, not saying it's right. It's just how it is right now. We need to do more to afford protections to Trans individuals.

Omg girl I'm so sorry that happened to you! I just want you to know that God loves you no matter what, and I'm a total supporter of the LGBTQ community! I believe that God loves everyone, even if they change their gender. You were born a woman inside and you totally deserve to have the body you always have wanted. My fiance and I have already agreed to adopt soon, and be supportive if our child is transgender, gay, lesbian, non-religious, or whatever they want to aspire to be and believe. :) I wish everyone Christian was like us, but I wanted you to know that we love you just as equally as anyone else! You're no different than any other human being, you're just super special and unique and any man/woman would be so lucky to have you!But I love you soo much and I love your videos! I myself am a straight white female, but I find so much understanding and inspiration from your videos, and that I should love everyone no matter what! I just wanted to thank you for opening mine and my fiance's eyes! You're truly a blessed angel, and you are SO beautiful girl! Stay confident and never take shit from the haters! If they mess with you, just let me know and I'll put the fear of the LORD in them, lol! Xoxoxo, have a blessed day Victoria! 😃😳😺👸👗👛👠💄🌸🌈

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I'm a biological woman who's married to a man, but I encouraged my kids to always be open minded about people with different interests. I have explained to them that we are all made s certain way we don't come from one strict mold, and whatever they feel, if not agreeing than they need not bother but don't make rude comments or call anyone out. I said if they agree, then also don't call anyone out but let whoever it is know they have their full support and encouragement. God does the judging NOT HUMANS! unless it's for court cases or somethibg:)

This doesn't really compare, but in high school they tried to tell me how to wear my hair. I have very long hair, and in my senior year of high school it went down below my waist. So I'd wear it down (because how else would I wear it?) and it would sometimes fall in front of my face. And I'd just leave it, because A) I didn't care, B) I could see clearly, and C) It kind of made me look like Cousin Itt from the Addams Family. So the school security guard came up to me and said I either had to comb my hair back and out of my face or I had to cut it. I asked why and he said it was so I could be recognized if I ever did anything. I told him that I was the only one who looked like me. I'm 6'3'', I wear a butt-ton of denim, I have waist-length hair, I was the only person I'd seen at the school with a full-on beard. It's pretty hard to mistake me for someone else. So I told him that if he ever saw me with my hair cut, he'd know that I'd done something I wasn't supposed to and had cut my hair so as to avoid being recognized for whatever crime I had committed. But in the end, I had to talk to some school officials. I basically told them to eat my crème fraîche because I wasn't going to cut my hair. Then a year later I shaved my head for a totally legal reason and not to avoid being identified for that guy's murder. Okay, I didn't kill him. He was alive when I left. I have a lawyer.

Wow, isn't it illegal to fire someone for their sexual orientation? My job I recently quit from had this idea that I was a lesbian and I was called out for something that I did not do. (They said I went into a stall with another associate for sexual purposes) So I quit, no one will judge me for any reason whether I'm LGBT or not. I will not tolerate that.
I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.

I was put in a situation where they pinned someone elses bs on me and repremanded me, as a way to get me to quit. They had no evidence that I did anything wrong, but they tried to fire me anyway. They pulled the exact same BS on my friend not even a month later.

She treated you that way in the end because she was trying to push you out. She can't legally fire you because of who you are. She treated you like garbage and threatened you like that because she knew you'd hate it so much that you would want to leave.
Same thing happened at my job. I'm a cis woman, but the boss for whatever reason did not like me, and decided that she no longer wanted me to work at the company and threatened me with the stupidest things I have ever heard in my life… so she got her wish, I got tired of the bullshit and I left.

Yup I know that this is 7 years at present. Listen to what I have to say. This is my experience, but it is many other also. This is going to sound sharp and harsh. But I don’t tell anyone anything. If you read this, and you have experiences similar, or maybe you see the situation that you went through, you should have. Just any connection to what I say.
If you held off and you ended up going through a 180, and it’s been a long time, and people have changed. Let me and hopefully others know, and if we can understand what the difference is, maybe someone can make less mistakes, and I will guarantee that you will, more than likely, get a reaction like you made a mistake, then they will flip back because you don’t change back for them.
Anyho, if someone who says that they are family, friends, anything, and if they say how much they love you, or care about you, or anything like that. If they have concerns, they will sit and have a conversation with you, and certainly not talk at you. Keep that in mind, and look at the differences between with you and at/to you. They just might sound like they truly are there for you, but stop and listen, be analytical. Record the conversation, make sure that they don’t know. It is a proven fact, people act differently when they see that blinking red light. You might be recording all day riding bikes on a trail. They might have seen the camera mounted on your handlebars several times already. But as soon as everyone is slowed down and grouped together closer. Then someone will notice that the camera is there and pointed in their direction, not at them. They will do a flip mode, and if the red light is flashing, or they ask you if you are recording, flip even more. Got to put a show on for anyone who might see the video.
Now, once you have the talk/s, you can ask others what they hear, or if you are able to drop a gopro or whatever close enough. What does others think that you trust. This can be a boss, family, friends, whatever.
Now this is key, if you feel hurt, understand if you feel anything that is not good, and whoever is in the talk/s, doesn’t have the heart to pause when you say that you feel bad, or anything not good. Then they are willing to discuss what what and how. Because they truly love you and/or care about you, not concerned about you. Then you got a decision, wait, and get others thoughts if you are not sure. But especially if that person. Listen, if that person has no concerns about you crying, and going through distress. Furthermore, if they come out and insult you or basically insult you, and you know that they know what they are saying. You will know it when it happens. Don’t live in a fantasy world where people change. Yeah parents have to go through a process, because there child just died, or is about to. Doesn’t matter if they are going to get another child, just happier, and improved. Some need time. They would have been supportive before about everything good. If you are made to feel ashamed or whatever, especially if you don’t need them. If you are 16, 17 whatever, and you have a friend who is supportive, and you can stay there. Hold your touch and even smile and agree, if you have stuff you want to get out of the house, and I would look at the situation, don’t go in there room and steal anything, but if you have games in another room, grab your game and the television along with the setup that you primarily use. That goes for everything. Don’t take the living room television, if there is only that one, and don’t take the family computer if they use it as much or more than you. But understand if anyone does not have a concern about your feelings and input, and you do for them. Gone. That is it.
As for as this situation. Yes, young, and other parts of the situation. I would probably check with my parents. They would end up with some bad reviews. If not a law suit if applicable. That Becky would fully understand that if she did not respect me, and she did not respect my work that I put in, and my family did not respect my feelings when I was not hurting anyone, and I was in understanding with my other family. Then lets go. I would not want front page news, if a lawsuit is applicable. Most of the time, it will be settled behind closed doors, and if you feel like you want to stand up for others. You better come correct, and represent, and take it all the way. The whole time, making sure that everyone knows that you are not mad, and it’s not about the money, it’s about standing up for good, standing up for others who will come after you. You respected and cared about ______. You put your heart, soul, and blood sweat and tears, in. If they had that much concern. Then hopefully other people would see that when someone says something or is going for a change, and previously they done their part, then it will be returned.
Each situation is different and people change, but give or take 10%, and when they hit rock bottom, they might change, or put on a show.

She has no privileges being a person of faith (not a virtue) over you. If you give her those privileges though, you're not going to be a happy person

If your aunt & uncle own the restaurant brand as a chain or corporate owned chain, your sexuality was never a question, you worked hard for them, and your choice to change didn't effect your work ethic and habits, then there isn't good reason to let you go in my eyes just because you made a decision regarding your body and your image in regards to your sexuality.......she is just unprofessional and judgemental. She was hiding behind policy as a way to control you and have a way to terminate you if you didn't give in. Like you said, she didn't have to agree with it, but it's your choice. And it didn't change how you work or how you represent the company. She didn't have grounds to terminate you until she found a loop hole!! WOW! I'm sorry you had to go thru that, I really am! And I'm also sorry that you had no support from your family, your aunt and uncle actually.

Well I do not know alot about religion, but if there is a god and if god do not make mesatakes then the fact that you are transgender and going from male to female, then that could be seen as your part for letting people learn to accept that people are different and you are doing your part for helping people accepting this subject. :-)
Please take this positive since I mean it in a positive way.
I admire transgender people in generel and I am aware that transgenders people realy can have it hard because of other peoples wiews about this.
I mean it, I belive that I would not have the mental resources to go through something as though as what transgender people can go through. :-)

I love the Ficus you have in the backround! good plants :) they shed a lot if you move them!
anywho, i get what you mean - you weren't officially fired, but she wen't through a loop hole to pretty much get you to quit. . . classic piece of shit human move.
she literally proclaims that you can't be who you are if you wan't to work - fucking sick, really wish you had lawyer ed up.

Can we be friends!? I stumbled upon your channel yesterday and have not stopped watching. I’m so happy that you have such a positive outlook on life & situations. I try to put myself in someone else’s shoes who are either negative towards me or other people so I don’t take it personally and it really does make a big difference. But anyways, your amazing, beautiful inside & out🌻

I know this video is a little older but I would have just kept growing out your hair and let her take you off the schedule- then take her to court. "Becky" definitely shouldn't have that position if she is so unprofessional. If I was a customer and heard her on the phone talking about an employee in front of everyone, I would personally say something. idk if she still has that position but she definitely shouldn't and you have the perfect reason to take her to court which will get her fired since your aunt & uncle didn't do anything. I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

Literally, that's extremely illegal. I feel like if your family wasn't affiliated with the restaurant you should of sued or at. Least something to show they can't get away with this. Even if though. Fuck that.

Yeah, you didn't have a choice therefore were driven out of your job. Sorry to hear and glad you learnt from it. Compromising "happiness" is normal sometimes - in a balanced and reasonable way. Strive for contentness... not happiness all the time. But do not compromise your integrity, ethics or morals xx Positive challenges are the best reflections in the long run... just a step in the massive staircase called life

Its sad, but you have to understand the job market is very strick especially when comes to image. Being transgender, you got to know when to turn it off especially when it comes to survival. Some jobs women dress in jeans and t-shirts. There's no racism when it comes to homeless. Transgender women is the highest among the rest of the people. Sometimes dressing neutral is the best way of handle things if it prevents you from being homeless.
