Im a cis woman and ive felt similar to that. I have paranoia episodes that last 3 to 4 days every 2-3 months. Ive left work because i have felt so overwhelmed, i dont feel safe anywhere but home if im not with my boyfriend. Maybe the root of our fear is not the same but the result is alike, feeling judged and looked/pointed at in public.

The airport pat down literally happened to me too. I kept telling them that I'm transgender and my flight was about to leave.. The girls that gave me the pat down were friendly though and they apologized! : )
I understand though, airports need to be safe and they take care of so many people they can't risk it.

That's EXACTLY what happened to me, but I'm FTM. I went through and the thing is ; basically if you have matter or anything where it 'shouldn't be for the option they choose for you, it sets off an alarm. I had the red X on my chest because of my binder, they sent some dude who patted me down and they still were like ??? And then this lady was like "did we pick the right option?" And gestured that they picked the male one, and I went "yeah" and they were like...ahhhh....okay you're a Transgendered. So yeah

Hi Victoria! Thank you for being so honest and sharing this story. I feel so sorry that this happened to you on a trip that was supposed to be enjoyable for you. However it's good for me and others to know that we're not the only ones that this stuff happens to. I also feel the same way sometimes when I'm in public and I feel like people are talking about me (because I'm tall or because they are clocking me) but most of the times it's just me being paranoid. I also know what it's like to go somewhere to have a good time and end up wanting to go home asap because someone is staring at me and making me feel bad. One day we will be strong enough that these things won't affect us in the slightest. Most of the times I just stare back until they stop and I try to tell myself I'm not bothered by it but most of the times it gets to me even though it happens rarely. Many weeks ago I went to have ice cream with my boyfriend and two girls that worked there just kept on talking about me and looking at me until they noticed how upset I was and stopped. I still don't know if it was because my t-shirt was wet as I didn't change my bikini after swimming or if they clocked me but it annoyed me a lot as it's really unprofessional to talk shit about customers when they can see it.

It's my personal opinion that we, as trans women, have it better off here in Louisiana than many other places simply because I believe we're better accepted, especially in south La.
I had a similar experience with music festivals. I mean, not nearly as bad but still disappointing. I went to Bisco years and years ago and it was AMAZING!!! Everyone was so loving and sweet. I wasn't even dressed cute (and maybe it was all the ecstasy lol) but people were complimenting me left and right, everyone wanted pictures and hugs, if someone wasn't looking good people helped. Then, years later, I went to Paradiso. Ugh. People where pushing and shoving, looked pissed off, I almost got into a fight with a girl who was talking shit at the water station. Like wth? Where is the love, my doods?
