I really love how you brought up "no one wants to be reduced to one part of their body, when people have multiple attributes and many things to bring to the table" I think that hit the nail on the head. I think that tends to be one of those "unspoken truths" but even if it might seem obvious, it's really important to be said out loud.
You're one of my favorite youtubers and I'm so glad that I can learn from your life experience when it's something that is so unique from my own 💜

Even though sexuality and romantic attraction are different things, for most people they are the same (hetero/hetero). so when someone is romantically attracted to someone who presents ,for example female, that persons brain would automatically register them as having a vag, which the person would be sexually aroused by. If one person in the relationship isn’t attracted to the other persons genitals, I wouldn’t blame them on wanting to have the relationship platonic.🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm a transwoman too, and I've been asked this question so often.
And you are right, cis people are very interested in me and how it is to be trans because it's new and different for them. But they only ask me that question, if I told them that I'm trans. Or they had heard of it.
But most of the time, the people are seeing me as a normal woman in public.

Honestly this is a good take, but I personally still find the science part important and very empowering. I think when I first realised that I'm trans it came with a lot of doubts, because I was scared I was making it up or doing something wrong, and I actually spent a lot of time researching the science and biology of being trans. It really put it into perspective for me and made me feel a lot more validated. At the end of the day my feelings were the first thing to pop up, they re the most important, and if someone knows they re a woman or a man or neither, that should be the end of discussion and should be respected. But personally it helped me understand myself better, and I now think it can really help people understand that it is a real thing and that trans men are genuinely, very biologically male and that trans women are women in same respects.
Goin back to your point, in the situation you gave above again this is not something that would be immediately applicable, but spreading and having that knowledge can help make the whole problem not applicable in the future

I watch all your videos ALL the way thru btw 😂 also I think Sons of Anarchy did a pretty good season that alluded to one of the men being attracted to a trans women and they didn’t judge him or or her. Sure there were jokes but they were light hearted and overall they wanted to keep her safe and loved her like family. That’s one of the only times I’ve seen it being represented at least OKAY. side note idk why people wanna worry about what’s in between ANYONES legs when they have no right to ask and it affects them in no way.

11:35 - the tragedy of transsexualism is that the essence, the “aura” of female or male is present in the person, but the reproductive function is misdeveloped to the opposite side, which can be... traumatic. It is “missexualization”.
Once again, it’s so specific & blatantly sexual that its science is really, really hard to discuss. It’s hard, and yet so directly simple. It’s a male or female sense of self with gonads that have over- or underdeveloped, and whose body has misdeveloped as a result of their endocrines. The mask withdraws the self. Until hormonal redistribution through HRT, it is hard to deal, because something is missing, and something is replaced.

You started to talk about science at one point...and my opinion is that the "modern trans community" is sooooo lucky to have some scientists working on their behalf...imagine back in ancient Greece when effeminate boys had no such choices...Curiously those boys were MUCH more accepted by that ancient society than they are here in 2021 :( :(
Today, a trans person has options galore to help them along the path to become their true self.
From chemical helpers to facial surgery, to breast augs, and even highly successful "bottom" procedures...
And it is in fact a MUCH larger community than many realize...one only has to spend a day or 2 on
a site like Reddit to see that there are millions of trans individuals all over the planet...in every single culture :)
NOW...if we could only get more of the general population to understand :) :)

People EVERYDAY assume what someone’s gender is based on one thing and that is, does that individual have tits or not.....tits=girl / no tits=boy. As an assigned female at birth I lived with that my entire life whether or not I looked 100% male or not! The only way around that process was to illuminate my tits. Once that was achieved now I am assumed 100% of the time male without changing a single thing about how I look other than removing my tits. So no, men or women don’t look at your aura or your vibe to determine whether you are female or not they look directly at your chest and if it’s there you’re female. If it’s not you’re a guy. Plain and simple.

Sex however is observed and you don’t get to choose what sex you are, you’re just born that way. I think you might be one of the transwomen who stands with females, and for that I sincerely appreciate you. Our sex based experience is different, but our gender experience is similar

  • @MizMizchevious
    @MizMizchevious Před 5 lety

I think the idea of transition as a process with a clear end goal/form is really ingrained in people's minds. Trans awareness in the collective conscious has been, and in many demographics continues to be, the 'full' binary transition and ideas about what it means to be 'tolerant' or 'accepting' come from that. The majority of cis people still think that to be a good ally is to cheer the trans person over the 'finish line'. I think the idea of anything beyond the binary and its 1:1 relation of anatomy to expression still disorients people because they are unable to see genitalia without an inherent gender of the person it belongs to. Sexuality is mostly thought of as being intrinsically tied to the sex act itself and by extension to the genitals (which is where both the fascination and the demonization of LGBT sex stems from). The genitals are then placed on a pedestal above all other anatomy and become inseparable to sexuality causing people to feel the need to contextualize themselves in relation to it at all times. In a way, and I mean this purely theoretically, if trans people were to lead with their 'down there' information then it would allow cis people to conceptualize them fully from the outset, it would normalize and reinforce the idea that the anatomy doesn't negate the gender. Of course, I understand that there is a plethora of reasons why trans people don't do that, and I am in no way invalidating that. But that is why I think trans representation on youtube is quite game-changing because it provides both the personal familiarity and the appropriate distance to truly learn without overstepping in real life.

11:00 - Gender is biological though, as anything of life & the body is. The genitals manifest into a feminized (mild-developed) or masculinized (super-developed) form in utero and the bodies are near identical during childhood, but the body develops informed by the way the genitals developed in utero, *down to the genitals* and voice and chest & everything else, during puberty. Ever notice how everyone has the same parts in different proportions? Same goes for the labia & its male equivalent.
How do you bring this up to a sexually insecure population?

The thumb rule is simple: if you wouldn't do it to a cis person, don't do it to trans people just because they're trans. It's basic decency. Just ask yourself that before you do or say something

Honey yanno what I feel like people need to just take their heads out they own ass and just focus on the heart of the person not whats in their pants, just because were of trans experience doesn't mean that that's all we are, there's more us than just our bodies than being trans your a human being, a friend, a sister, a daughter, your an artist etc
    Damn

This might be the most articulate and unique way of presenting gender as not just genitals. I think other ppl touch on this but didnt quit put it in this way. Do you watch Blair White; because she does say there are only 2 genders. Just curious.

❤ I enjoyed what you had to say in this video. It's not what's between the legs that counts. What's between our ears is far more important. You're articulate and intelligent. You are visually attractive as well. 🙆🙂 Love the way you present yourself. 💙 If I didn't know better (first time hearing you and seeing you) I would never have suspected that you might be transgender.

Stef Sanjati also touched on this a bit in her video here: czcams.com/video/EomMR-MuBgo/video.html
She brought up some good points as well like saying ..if you for example, are a cis guy and you get into a wreck and your dick is destroyed, are you still a male? Of course ..same with if you're a female and get into a wreck and your vagina (god forbid) is destroyed, are you any less a female. No. Your gender is your gender and is not determined by genitals. You should go watch it, it's awesome

Why would you get upset if you are not naturally a women. It's your duty to tell a guy, you are interested or/and interested in you, that you are trans. Once you start kissing and feelings start to get involved then it will become a nightmare of a situation. The way the world is, you cannot get upset if a guy feels some type of way if he thought you were a natural women. However, he has no right to physically and verbally act on it. No one deserves physical harm.

I have a trans child and that is the first question people ask me to which I reply is “ That is none of mine or you’re business. All that matters is that my child is happy and finally living life they’ve always wanted. “

Strap in, here's a novel for you.
I don't think anyone should be embarrassed or offended by talking about their genitals, cis or trans, but that's just me. Here's the way I see it: I've said before in your comments that I've had a breast reduction surgery. I went down three cup sizes, lost ten pounds, and went from p3 sagging (the most severe) to p0 (no sagging at all). Since it was such an extensive surgery, I had to have the most extensive scarring pattern. My scars circle my nipples, then there's a straight line down and a half-circle in the fold under each breast. The final result resembles an anchor.
On rare occasion people ask to see my scars. I've even had one guy, red as a beet, stammer through an embarrassed explanation that it wasn't sexual, he was just curious. While these questions can be embarrassing for some (not me because I have no shame) I also understand that they come from a place of curiosity, because my breasts are different that other people's. I think with the crazy diversity that exists even amongst typical genitalia, we could end a lot of harmful misinformation floating around out there if these subjects weren't so taboo.
All of that being said, I ONLY think it's OK if it comes from a place of curiosity. When people are different, their lives are made hard enough by ignorant people who think they have a right to tell other people what to do, especially transgender people. In many states it's still legal to discriminate against them for any number of things including employment and housing, they don't need it from Joe Blow That I Don't Know on a city sidewalk.

Okay so here me out, I’m in no way against trans people and what they stand for and I am not transphobic at all. I guess you could say I’m skeptical but it’s more confusion based and I admit I’m probably very ignorant to the subject at hand. Whenever I watch a video with a trans person explaining why they are trans or how the found out they were trans it’s always either A.) A trans woman saying she knew when she was little because all she wanted to do was wear her mother’s makeup, put on dresses, and she loved all
Things feminine OR B.) A trans man saying he never fit in with the girls growing up he always wanted to play in the mud play sports do masculine things etc. So on the surface those seem like valid points “ Oh you enjoyed female things as a male you must be trans” but doesn’t that defy the fact that gender roles are not a thing ? Us liberals we push the fact that Pink doesn’t mean girl and blue doesn’t mean boy, but and correct me if I’m wrong the whole logic behind “Transgenderism” sorta defies that I mean the whole when I was a man I had to put on pants and for me to live my true self and be feminine I changed my gender... ? I would love to hear your answer to this Victoria and this is in no way me trying to be transphobic I would never misgender someone, make them feel like they aren’t their preferred gender or anything of that sort just genuinely confused I guess with the idea. Loved the video and hope you reply !♥️

I think the genitalia obsession is going to always be there. People, guys in particular, are socially-motivated so much by sex. Casual conversation, so many times, would not even happen if in the background "would I smash?" cannot be answered. It is uncomfortable, and even hurtful to be reduced to this, but it has always been a very big part of the male/female social interaction, and being transsexual is going to bring this to the front very quickly. As for ladies asking, well, they are information-gathering socialites, and will always probe everything. I offer no solutions, only "Yeah...."'s.
