My dearest darling Victoria..... I'm a 54 yr old straight granny. I grew up during a time that shaving legs started around the age of 10. So....I was cursed by that misery for many, many years!!!! About three years ago, thanks to old age and menopause, my body hair just stopped growing. Now, I have a grand total of 3 on one leg and 4 on the other. Virtually no arm pit hair. Maybe 2 on my nether region. Maybe too much info there!! Lol!!! I guess I'm telling you all of this because....when you get older none of the things we thought were so important don't seem so special anymore. I'm so glad that you're finding these things that make you a little happier. Shave, don't shave. Wear makeup or don't. Fix your hair or don't. Just be the best version of you that you can be. I really love you sweetheart and wish nothing more than for you to be happy!!!!💙💙💙💙💛💛💛💜💜💜💜

Growing up my mother always gave me "rules" about being a woman. I can't wear open toed shoes without painting my toenails. I shouldn't wear my hair in a ponytail all the time. I should get regular manicures and pedicures and facials. I gotta shave every so often. I shouldn't say unladylike things or belch at the dinner table and I should pluck my eyebrows and trim my nose hair and count calories and on and on and on.
First of all: she belched all the time at the dinner table and peed with the bathroom door open.
Second of all: I literally never did anything she told me about being feminine and ive grown in a happy hairy unmanicured woman with a great boyfriend and a house.
It doesnt matteeeeeeer. Just be happyyyyyyyy.

It’s so beautiful to see you turning things you hated about yourself and saw as ‘masculine’ when you were younger, into positive things that you embrace and love about yourself now. Go girl!
Also interesting point you made about doing ‘feminine’ things because you like it vs because you think it’s what’s expected of you, or ‘right.’ I tend to do a fully beat face of makeup every day and constantly tell myself I just ‘love the process’ and the ‘the art’ but I have to wonder if I give makeup too much power in validating the way I present, etc. As for shaving I just love feeling clean clothes on smooth skin (plus love the juxtaposition of a guy’s hairy body against my smooth skin when getting down and dirty) so I don’t think I could give up shaving, lul, but perhaps I’ll have to reconsider the makeup bit...
Either way I’m glad you’ve found what works for you, and glad you seem so happy and glowy these days!! Always a treat to see a Wiggins upload in my sub box xox

Victoria, I never comment, but felt I needed to. This video spoke to me way more than I expected it to. I have struggled with my gender my whole life, but I opted not to transition in my 20s (a long time ago), and many of my reasons were echoed by you here! All the shaving, makeup, hair, etc trying to look "like a woman" was so much work, and I grew to hate it. I feel like had I pursued transition, I would have had a similar journey as you. Thanks for showing me that it is possible to transition without having to be a total girly girl all the time.

I’m so happy that you feel comfortable and happy doing whatever you want with your own body!! I’ve been thinking about this topic a lot lately too, and as a woman who works traditionally masculine and “dirty” jobs i have often felt unfeminine and kinda unhappy because of it. But lately I’ve been reminding myself that being feminine isn’t about being pretty and completely hairless (I HATE hair removal), but it’s more so about being kind, thoughtful, nurturing, and compassionate, or at least for me it is. Keep doing whatever you feel is right for you! When you’re comfortable, you are confident and other people can tell. Lots of love!! Xo

  • @nicpedraza1
    @nicpedraza1 Před 4 lety

Omg Victoria this is such a well thought out video because, although I’m cisgender I found myself nodding and thinking, wow, this reminds me of those awkward years after MY puberty, and how it’s not so different from the years following someone’s transition where they settle into a more comfortable version of whoever it is they are :-) I wore a lot of awkward makeup, clothing, “trends” during peak puberty and it made me uncomfortable but I also “fit in” and avoided social ostracism as well, so in the end I continued to do it until I left high school and went to college. So really, cis women and trans women really do have some similar experiences coming of age, you just have to open your mind to listen to each other’s experiences ❤️

It personally only takes me 10 mins to shave my legs and im a trans woman of European origin so I grow LOTS of dark and thick hair all over. I have to shave my elbows, back of arms, arms, hands, knuckles, legs, feet, stomach, chest etc. like it’s crazy how much hair I can grow but at the same time I feel so free whenever it’s off my body. It just makes me feel disgusting and masculine and I hate having hair anywhere but my head lol. I wasn't that keen on it in the first place and didn't keep up that well on it, and then eventually I just figured fuck it and I stopped. I've never been a fan of makeup either! I'm going through menopause hell right now with hot flashes from hell so that's enough to deal with. And I feel the same way about hair! I used to blow it dry and straighten it, and a few years ago I just quit. I throw it in a hair tie after I wash it and that's it.

When I started accepting myself and went on hormones, and started growing out my leg hair and my happy trail - I feel happy because it feels like me.
Every few months I'll shave my legs just to kinda see how much hair is there ( since it's pretty thin ) but only because I may happen to be bored in the shower, not because of what anyone expects out of me.

My man doesn’t mind it and it’s honestly the last thing on my mind anyway. Not a priority for me at all. It’s honestly so much easier now that I don’t give a shit what people think and I can be comfortable without having to wear makeup and do my hair before going anywhere. Its so empowering when we can accept ourselves as we are. When we get rid of these guidelines and constraints that society tries to force upon us. But the choice is ours! And when we finally realize that and experiment with our thoughts, so liberating! Also get that pizza! Food is not the enemy its the amount of food you eat. Learn to control how much you eat and you can eat anything you want. Its about balance. A little bit of this a little bit of that and limiting yourself. Some ppl (like myself) do not like limits, rules, authority so it doesn’t come naturally but its totally doable and you can still enjoy all the things you used to. Just in balanced amounts.

I haven't even listened to this all the way through, and I'm here to say that being a woman can mean anything to anyone. For me, it does involve things like not shaving or wearing makeup for as long as I fucking want to! There's no wrong or right way to look like or be a woman. Women come in all shapes and sizes. As you know, in your heart is the place where it starts. Feminine energy comes from a place within, so, whether cis, non-binary, transitioning, etc., as long as we listen to what our feminine energy wants, we are doing it right.

Yes yes yesss my friend i absolutely hear what youre saying about people who go against the stereotype have that view that they are WOKE and superior to other people. People like what they like. And people are allowed to change what they like! Goshhhh

I would wear makeup but I don't want to spend huge amounts of money. Even if I only buy one makeup product it's still super expensive, I could be buying food instead. I also don't feel the need to look perfect all the time anymore.

That intro though, preach! Body hair is not a feminist statement most of the time, and when it is it's a really fucking lazy one, because it literally just grows there. It's just hair, it's not going to bite off anyone's dick and demand equal pay.
What you're talking about is super relevant to all young women, but I think for cis women the pressure quite rapidly declines as you age, and not just as a result of individual women rising above it. I would attribute some of it to benevolent ageism.
I don't know if that extends to transwomen. I'm glad you can see through the bullshit though, I would want this realisation for all trans ladies out there! You shouldn't have to go around feeling like there might be a pop-quiz on your womanhood at any moment.

Femininity comes in all different forms, it's not long nails, long hair, and pretty dresses. That is what society portrays it to be.

Why don’t people use hair clippers to shave their legs it seems like it would be way faster

I remember as a young girl I would see pop stars wearing crop tops and bearing midriff. I was a girl with a lot of baby chub and I literally dreamed of having a body where I could wear clothes like that. When I got a bit older I thinned out a little and I would rock short booty shorts, crop tops, hair and make up always done. As an adult who actually is smaller than my teenage self I prefer to be comfortable and warm now but I remember how badly I wanted and idolized that ideal picture of what I thought femininity was. Getting to the point where I loved myself regardless of my make up, hair, clothes was such a freeing point. I love the fact that I can actually roll out of bed brush my hair and teeth and go out without feeling self conscious.

The hair on my legs has always been so fine and light that it is hard to see. I haven't shaved my legs for years.
