Inejs backstory is that she was s3x trafficked as a child and sold to the menagerie which is the place that they put “exotic” girls such as inej or shu girls etc. and the indenture is basically a “legal” contract that keeps her as a slave so if she were to flee and be captured she would be imprisoned or worse
If I remember correctly I'm pretty sure in the finale of season 1 when she took the bone thing out of his hand Alina also kinda absorbed the antlers into her hence why they're no longer there

The length of a Grisha's life depends on how powerful they are. So the darkling and his mother have lived so long because they have such a strong power, Alina is also going to have a long life because her power is like the mirror of the darlings. In the darkling's flash back origin story in season 1 the girl he loved who died mentioned that if she could get an amplifier to increase her power she could live for another 100 years. Am I crazy for liking Nina the most of the crows? I loved her relationship in S1 and when she got that info in episode two and saved Inej it solidified it for me 😂
I love inej but wylan is my favorite crow he is underrated af and I fell like I can relate to him most out of all the crows

I have some clear ups for you 🙏🏻 Because I understand your confusion.. and since I’ve read the books maybe I can help you understand better 😭😭 so basically Alina is just masking the antlers with light, like she’s bending the light so they became invisible (at least that’s how it was described in the books), but it wasn’t explained in the show which is rly confusing honestly. And Alina did take the bone out of darklings hand at the end, but they do still have some kind of connection but just wait, I believe they’re going to talk a bit more about that later on 😊(although I’m not sure 😭😭), anyway.. an AMAZING video as always, I had so much fun 🤭🤭

Can someone tell me how alina and the darkling were connected in the books, because the show clearly did it differently? I always thought their bond in the books stayed a mystery, something that didn't have a specific reason.

I finished s2 already and I love the way they show the connection between kirigan and Alina even though he’s bad, I love that they still have a bond it gives the show depth
I’m also so confused about the Nina and Matthias smashing being a memory or daydream?? In Six of Crows, Matthias dreams about Nina but it’s pretty certain that nothing ever happened between them; but the way he’s tormented by it during episode 2; idk it seems like maybe it really did happen somewhere prior to them arriving at the waffles inn in episode 8 of season 1? Maybe it was something the writers regretted not adding into season 1 and they just threw into season 2 to make Matthias more angry at himself and feeling like he definitely won’t be forgiven?? 🤔
It most definitely is a dream. Like you said, atleast in the books it's a very common occurance of almost all Mathias' chapters when he was in hellgate. They all contain a line “Matthias was dreaming again. Dreaming of her." His hatred AND love for Nina is what got him through the prison. I see those scenes with them together as mix of hate and love which usually comes out as lust.

I loved this reaction. I can't wait for episodes 3 and 4 reaction, those personally were my favourites. The show did sort of divert from the books later in the season, but if you haven't read the books you won't notice anything off with it. At the end of season 1 Alina absorbed the antlers into herself so that's why they aren't shown.
Guys I felt Alina and Kirigan had more chemistry. The romance between Alina and Mal didn't give me anything. However, the character of Kirigan is high key stalker and deserves what he got
From what I've seen of book readers opinions... A lot of book readers would agree with you Alina and Mal don't really have any chemistry, not even in the books. But yeah, as a show watcher I 1000% agree with you. Nothing against the actors. They're amazing. But I just I don't know I don't Vibe with the relationship in the way that I did with Alina and the Darkling... Even though the Darkling is 1000% an abuser piece of 💩.
A lot of book readers have said that the Shadow and Bone series of books are the first time that they rooted for the main character to not end up with ANY of her love interests. A LOT of people really route for Alina remaining single. Lmao.

Quite the opposite for me. Ben's a good actor but I felt like they sacrificed "romantic chemistry" for outstanding performance, which isn't always a bad thing.
This is horrible in the books too. The Darkling is well written, you can condamn his actions and still want him with Alina
I always have a thing for villains but this is the first time I find myself disliking one. Love Ben Barnes but I despise the Darkling no matter how hot he is. Toxic mess.

Huge BTW: The Darkling knew that Genya was being r@ped by the king. In fact, he basically used her to gain power over him. That's why Genya was trying to warn Alina about powerful men. Because she has been used by both of those men with power, for long having been under their oppression and she can't get out because the Darkling "saves" her from death and gave her the position in the kingdom, essentially making her feel like she owes him when he is the one basically encouraging the king's abuse on her. People either forget, not realise or just don't care about that fact and it infuriates me how many people are still shipping him with Alina (a 17-year-old girl btw) or root for him. I get that he's a great villain and Ben Barnes is an amazing actor. But that's it. He's a VILLAIN and not even a "grey kind of character" anymore. At this point he has long succumbed to the darkness/evil and personally, I don't want him ANYWHERE near Alina. Jut my opinion though.
