    A detail I missed the first time around is that "Hope is dangerous - clouds your judgement" is actually Inej quoting Kaz word for word from a conversation between them in season 1😭

      @AnxietyRat Před rokem +27

      Yeah, she is sneakily saying that she hallucinated HIM because she's quoting his EXACT words back to him....but also saying that what she saw was just a hope she had for the future. Her words had a double meaning. It's a beautifully written the scene tbh.

    As a book fan, my unpopular opinion is that I have no issue with the pacing. I'm treating the show as its own separate thing and I'm really enjoying it as is. I love not knowing what's coming and getting to see how these characters deal with new situations. Can't wait to see what you think of the last two episodes!

    • @reekaren2609
      @reekaren2609 Před rokem +2

      I wouldn't find the pacing a problem, if it was done well and with respect. But now finding out, that the showrunner and the writers only made S&B because they wanted the spin off about the crows, so they decided to cram all the books (I think one review said, that it was 6 books) into one season. I find that very disrespectful towards the actors, because the writers are literally saying that people should let season 2 play on mute on the background so that they could get the show they actually wanted to write (no joke, their actual words).

    • @eggzie6680
      @eggzie6680 Před rokem +12

      @@reekaren2609 I think only the fans are saying to play the show on mute in the background. The showrunners and the writers just said that just like any other show on Netflix, the reception of the previous season will decide the renewal of the show and potential spin off.. and they did not cram 6 books in the show, they just draw pieces of them that will make sense on the narrative of the show. Other parts of the books can still be adapted. They just aren't doing specifically one book per season.

      My only issue was with the handling of Inej’s story (they are exploring Kaz’s trauma really well but not hers), but other than that I really don’t mind what changes they make and entirely agree! If I wanted the book plot, I would just read that. It’s a bit messy but I am enjoying it (besides the my gripe with Inej’s story).

      @@witchy.business Oh yeah, I'm totally with you on Inej's story, hopefully if they get a S3 or SoC spin-off, they can still rectify that bc it def didn't feel like she got the time she deserved. It very much feels like her arc has revolved more so around Kaz and the Crows than around her as an individual.

    The different Grisha can be a bit confusing so I hope this makes sense. There is an overlap to all Grisha power, in episode 1 we found out Zemeni don’t put them in categories ‘they are all blessed’ but the Ravkan’s have different orders. There are 3 orders: Corporalki (The living and The dead) is healers and heartrenders (people who control the body); Etherealki (Summoners) is Squaller (Wind), Inferni (Fire) and Tidemakers (Water); Materialki (Fabrikators) is Durats (Metal) and Alkemi (Chemicals). Genya is the first Tailor, which is a big of a mix between Corporalki and Fabrikcator so she has some healing ability. I think Fabrikators and Corporalki have the most cross over so someone might be able to do a little bit of multiple stuff but they would have a specialty.
    Sorry that it’s so long, it can be confusing but I love the seres and I’m loving your reactions xx

  • @ashlmtl
    @ashlmtl Před rokem +39

    Genya is a tailor but titles like tailor, heartrender, healer etc. are more just labels for the training you've had. There are three types of Grisha: Corporalki - can control/manipulate human biology, Etherealki - can control elements, Materialki - can control things such as rock or metal.

    • @Alewaxon
      @Alewaxon Před rokem +37

      She is a Corporalki, so technically she could do all of the things related to the body that they could do... It's just that each of them specialize and perfect different things and usually most of them show a preference and inclination for specific abilities within their specific powers... So yes, Genya has shown a very pellicular and specific type of healing, that's why she is a Tailor, but it is healing after all, and going further, it is quite simply a form of body manipulation

    as a fan of the books (mainly the six of crows duology) i did enjoy the season and the pacing but i felt that some elements taken from the duology and thrown in random moments won't serve the story as a whole in the long run because these moments in the book were more deserved in a way. So i'm torn between actually enjoying it and feeling like it will make it more messy in the long run but i do trust these actors with the characters and i guess that's all that matters. So i don't mind some of the changes and some of the extra bits because adaptations have to be at least a little different BUT i think the shifts in the chronological order will harm the character development if that makes sense. But I had fun anyway and I love these characters so much

    A Taylor is more of a specialty inside the corporalki order than a whole different power, just like healers and heartrenders. The power is the same, manipulating the human body, is Just used with a different focus, that's why Genya is capable of healing and feeling the heartbeats. Also, a durast is just another name for fabrikator

    I’ve read the books and I also thought the pacing was a bit weird and also they have a few loose ends. For example like you talked about with Alina trying to find another way to absorb the amplifiers. I’m not gonna spoil the last 2 episodes but at least up until this point they like completely abandoned that line of thinking she had which confused me. I had the same reaction at you saying over and over again that she said she’s interested in finding another way besides killing. I’m not one to really mind changes in adaptations as long as it makes sense. The only thing I don’t like is how they’re doing the relationships between the Crows. Six of crows I enjoyed much better than the original Shadow and Bone trilogy. Part of it is bc their story focuses on heists and I love heists, but also I love the relationships they had. They’re relationships are so complex and takes time for everyone to get with their pair. Jesper and Wylan relationship moved extremely fast in the show and it’s much more of a slow burn like Kaz and Inej. You’ll see in the last episodes how Kaz and Inej relationship progresses and I just think that bc of how much is going on in the story bc of the mash of two series the weight of their relationships really takes a hit bc they’re trying to give like 12 different characters enough screentime. I do enjoy the series. But as I expected when finding out about the merge of the two stories, some things are underdeveloped which sucks.

    Having watched the entirety of season 2 I kinda think that they are speeding up the events a bit too much. Havent read the books myself but the pace plotwise in season 1 was much slower but now it seems that a lot of things get resolved in the same episode that they are presented in. Seems that the author left the series after season 1 and the showrunner has decided to include plotpoints into season 2 from all of the books in the series. The trouble with this is that this forces you as the showrunner to come up with your own plotpoints since you cant rely on the material from the books as much as you have in season 1.

    -Yes, the fandom is not confused but a bit annoyed with the pacing, to explain, there are 7 main books in the Grisha world, and this season the producers threw us events from the 6th and 7th book. The dilemma is what they will show us then in future seasons.
    -In the book Genya is totally disfigured, full of scars, in the show they were kind to her, honestly, we would have liked her to have all the scars, since these represent all the abuses that were inflicted on her.
    -Nikolai is wonderful, he is our prince charming with a sharp tongue and Machiavellian methods, he will do anything to protect his country and people, if you remove the genoside tendencies, The Drakling would be like him.
    -Kaz has Haphephobia.
    -Of all the crows, Jesper is the only one who doesn't have a traumatic past, he had a happy childhood, the only problem is his gambling addiction.
    - 23:28 yeah, that was the general reaction whe we read that part in the books.😂
