show writers f-ed up and left a lot out. Genya deserved better, I know Leigh admitted to not re-reading her own works but I had hoped the show writers would have and could have neutrally pointed out all the politics and literal game of thrones things that happened with Genya. First, Darkling never gave genya to the king. He assigned Genya to the QUEEN. Genya even says this in s1 and in the books. Darkling made Genya become a spy for the Queen. She was meant to be in the Queen’s court and under the Queen’s protection. The queen is the one who demanded Genya stay at the Grand Palace to constantly fix her, and demanded Genya only tailor her. Queen Tatiana was a Fjerdan born nobility - she could have changed thr King’s mind on thr Grisha at any moment which is why a spy is essential. Again she was only suppose to be a spy for the Queen. When she tells him what the king did, he offers her a way out or a chance to get revenge. When she tells Nikolai what the king did, Nikolai offers the KING stay and face trial or take up the impossible to turn down deal where you get NO TRIAL, no accountability, live a “life of luxury” and safety, no more worries about ruling, and you can even go to the warm southern islands (chapter 11 R&R). Kings almost never face trial for their actions. SaB show writers didn’t bother bringing any of this up

Girl, you're getting swept away by the slow burn and missing what Kaz is saying... Focus! 😂 When Kaz says people don't know his real weakness, he's talking about Inej... He knows his feelings/worry for her makes him weak. It messes with his planning. That's how he knew how to exploit Pekka's love for his son. Kanej is the ship I'm staying on till my other ship sails (Nikolai and.........)

Kaz suffers from a condition called haphephobia - an intense fear of being touched/touching others. it stems from trauma he suffered in his childhood - the next episodes touch (no pun intended) a little more on that.

I think they would probably hate each other because they have very different motivations. I mean, Kaz wants to destroy the people who hurt him and protect the people he cares for, and Kirigan doesn't really care for anyone, has no regard for human life, and is willing to sacrifice anyone to get what he wants. Besides, Kaz is a criminal mastermind despite having no powers, while Kirigan just uses brute force for everything

@@ullamorozova Ohhh sorry it's been a while since I read the books and I've forgotten a lot of things. I was mainly running with the show since Genya told him how he used her to satisfy a king. I knew the Darkling didn't give her to the king, just that the king obviously took advantage of her, so I said the royal family in general but now I know she was gifted specifically to the Queen, which is still messed up regardless
Tailors are a special kind of Healer. Not every Healer can tailor like Genya can but every Tailor can heal.
Kaz and Inje have some trauma so physical touch is hard, and also Kaz doesn't know how to deal with his feelings towards her so he's always trying to push her away.... as a Kinaj shipper I'm suffering!

Kirigan gave Genya to the Queen as a servant and then the king repeatedly r***d her. Kirigan didn't do anything to stop the king or protect her even though he claims he wants to protect the grisha. Thats is why Genya hates Kirigan and the king.
If anything it was really a plus for him because she could get closer to the royals
Then genya should hate Nikolai in the books. Nik does worse than nothing, he rewards the king with early retirement wherever he wanted to go even the southern colonies to live a life of luxury and get more girls
@@mggardiner4066 yeah, what the show writers forgot to mention was that she was assigned to the Queen to be a spy. That the queen was Fjerdan and needed to be watched closely to make sure she didn’t order anything against the Grisha.
@@ullamorozova somewhat true, but you also see that he is frustrated that he can't legally do more. He basically sets it up as banishment to be kind (more for his mother) but also as a way to force the Tsar out and so Genya doesn't have to deal with them or the risk to her. And he can threaten that violating that gives them more grounds to fully prosecute him if he comes back + it gives time to really get the court and legal system under his control so he could actually execute him or sentence him to harsh imprisonment without having a coup. Sadly nobles historically get cranky when people punish other nobles and rulers like you would ordinary people. A public trial would probably result in people targeting Genya sadly even though she is innocent in regards to seduction (it would also reveal she poisoned the Tsar) , and I think both she and Nikolia realize that

The cane actually is not part of kaz's backstory actually, he broke his leggi falling from a high and it never healed. The author of the books has a bone problem and she started using the cane when she was writing kaz character, so this was a way for her to confrot the news

@@ullamorozova I think they could have done better this season, but the book one did get very mustache twirly and over the top in the second 2 books. I respect that they brought his ruthlessness and selfishness as it developed as well as his struggle with his emotions, but I think they leaned too heavily into the illness thing and left out a bit about how the centuries have been pressing down on his mind

I think the reason why I love Kanej sm is because of their slowburn like they're so freaking unique
So at first Alina and Kirigan didn't know the other one was alive. So they both thought they were dreaming. David explained there is leftover from the stag amplifier that connects them. Once Kirigan realized this he now purposely projects to where she is. Because he's projecting to her physical location and not in a dream his actions are tangible and real.

They wouldn't be bothering with the whole Kanej slowburn if they were setting Inej and Tolya up.

Idk if you enjoy reading but you would like the books. The show and books are very different so don’t expect to be getting the same exact story but I definitely recommend checking them out! Six of Crows is the better series in my opinion and takes place after the events of Shadow and Bone but the whole universe is just awesome!

I love that when I first started watching this show I went in for Ben Barnes, then fell in love with the Crows and Malina and now hate Kirigan. I love my progression.
You're gonna stop coming for my man Mal! He *is* the moment. He *is* the prize. Okay?!? I love a supportive partner of a powerful person. Besides, Mal has been very useful throughout the series and a very stable partner for Alina (which, she needs during all of this chaos). Plus, he's HOT, HOT, HOTTTT. I won't lie, though, I was also sort of shipping Alina with Nikolai and ended up loving the sort of polyamorous relationship that the three of them have.

I didn’t particularly like how they rushed into the Sea whip but took the rest of the season with the Firebird until it was convenient. I also felt like there was so many unnecessary scene cuts😂 like just as we made progress with plot A, the show cut it and took us to Plot B and vice versa. I needed balance😂😂
I totally agree with you about Mal and Alina, they just don’t have that SPARK! They just give off friend vibes to me! And I think it has to do with actor chemistry! They are both really good at acting, and it has nothing to do with their abilities as actors, it’s just that chemistry is either there with actors or it isn’t. And I don’t feel that chemistry between them. Rather than it coming naturally between them, it’s as if they have to work to get that romantic relationship aspect flowing.
Chemistry is 80% acting, imo. Sure, being on good terms with the other actor is a huge plus, but I've seen shows in which married couples act and it still feels like there's no chemistry. It's all about planning and calculating and sharing the same idea about how the fictional couple should be (and it's not just the actors, the writers and the director are also involved). Not saying Jessie and Archie are bad actors though. My take is that it's all on purpose, because of what we find out in the second half of the season. Maybe we're supposed to not ship the relationship at this point, so that they start over and make it better later...or she ends up with someone else.
