    I want to start by saying people that haven't seen Jonathan's work in person. Do not have an idea of how clean and beautiful. These cars really come out from his garage. He does amazing work. I had the pleasure of seeing his 69 trans am clone. And I am telling you from top to bottom. The car is so clean in this video. It will show you how much details his work really is. I. Also, want to give a special thanks to Jonathan for sharing his knowledge to all of us including myself. The time that I have being his friend, which's about 3 years now. Unbelievable time goes so fast. I have learned so much. Buddy, we appreciate you for sharing your gift that the Lord has blessed you with and your knowledge. Thank you.

      Thank you brother, I try to do my best with each car I build and still learning as i go so each one turns out better then the last. Now I get to share that experience so that anyone that wants to build their own car can get great results with way less mistakes

    Keep up the good work, watching how you do this sheet metal has really helped me believe that I can do the major sheet metal repairs needed on my daughter’s 68 Firebird.

      A good plan and using reference marks and leaving things like doors and trunk lid installed you can make it happen

    • @Todd-Noble
      @Todd-Noble Před 3 měsíci +1

      I’ve watched you install complete floor pans and to me that seems to be the easiest and best way to get started and then do trunk pan and rear frame rails

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  Před 3 měsíci

      @Todd-Noble it works
      For me that order works great since how the trunk floor and frame rails are stacked especially on a coupe. For the most part only removed what you have to, as not to loose the shape or structure while cutting the car up.

    I love these videos. Thank you Jonathan for producing them. He proves that an average guy in a 2 car garage can do a top qualify restoration with a lot of expensive tools just skill and knowledge which anyone can learn from his videos. There are a lot of hacks that put out videos that show short cuts and poor work. VVG is my favorite. Keep up the great work.

      Very kind words much appreciated, as a youngster my dad set the example to me many times do the job well and it will last so that is how I try to build these cars. I will say looking back in the beginning for me I was a bit of a hack and used pop rivets 😬. Learned quick that it wasn’t durable and cracked out. I then invested in a welder and been working on improving my abilities since. Now I can share several years of experience on what does and doesn’t work to save views time and money plus get decent results

    Currently doing the Jack stand method on my 68 bird. Using a wire wheel to clean all the dirt and crud off before paint. Im not even that old and it’s brutal working that way. Love your set up!

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I have been there before,
      It works. Little messy. I remember laying in my parents backyard with a drill with wire brush under the car, it was after messing with it for a couple hours I decided I don’t like undercoat anymore and now I only use it in wheel wells as chip guard. Because I don’t want to remove it

    Every time I see you use that car flipper I say I need to build one. This summer I will. Like the hammer tip with the gaps, I’ll be using that for sure. Once again, thanks for your time to make these videos.👍

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      The car flipper is such a space and back saver when you get the car to this point. A one off build it’s hard to justify but if you do more then one or make it nice it could be sold I suppose then it helps make it worth while.
      Glad to see some progress on yours as well. The Cowl looking good.

      Thanks. This was a crazy idea I drew up originally on graph paper to scale to test
      Its function. I guesstimated the center of gravity and seemed to have nailed it for a convertible. It’s a little top
      Heavy for a coupe but still
      Works. Just have to work a little harder to get it back down over center

    Can you explain 60% chassis black? And also show what spray guns you use for each process? Love your content

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      That is a good video idea. Thanks.
      60% is a way of describing the gloss level It’s like comparing flat black vs glossy black. The shinier the higher the %. Some builders like 80% gloss for me 60 is my choice for underbody and under hood.
