    I had to rebuild the drip rails on my '74 Econoline. I can say without out a doubt that the All Metal was the best choice. I cut, built and welded new rails all the way down the side. Smoothed it with All Metal before adding the seam sealer. I think its just as strong as it was back in 1974. Great tip about thinning out the "Bondo" I'll definitely be giving it a try. Thanks again for another great video!

    Just remember guys, don’t mix any of this on cardboard, it will decrease the working time by a lot as the cardboard will absorb the filler

      It definitely absorbs a lot of the resins and amazing how quick it does as well

    Hey bud, bit of an off question you wouldn’t happen to have any 67 wing windows laying around would you? I don’t need them I just need measurements. And I can’t seem to find them any where. I wasn’t gonna ask but it was my last resort I know your busy with a different project

    Good advise on the epd primer years back I was short on time scuffed prepped and painted over the epd primer seemed fine, but after a few years tiny rust bubbles never left epd on after that.

    On that tilt column all you need is an ignition switch that fits a tilt column 69 firebird the ignition switch was made different for the tilt column

      Even the park neutral switch won’t fit as well. Best I could find is the Camaro Column is a different part number then the Firebird. It could be modified to make it work, I feel I would prefer to sell it instead

    Absolutely enjoy your channel, John! I found it recently as I searched looking for tips on finding an old first gen firebird. I owned a '77 Trans Am in my high school days but had a friend who had a '68 bird and always wanted one. Do you have any tips on how to find a 1967-1969 model that would require alot of work, like the ones you start out with?

      It seems that they find me now, at least one car a month or so. Sometimes it’s a good deal but I have too many cars if that was even a problem. Other than that Facebook market place has a few pop up here and there too. Was there a particular year? Coupe or convertible?

    Jon, great video! So how do you feel about using All Metal in the seam between the roof panel and the sail panel of the quarter. It seems like it might be about 1/8-3/16” deep. Considered welding a strip of sheetmetal over the gap which is about 1.25” wide, but still up in the air about it. Thoughts? I know you do a lot of convertible work, so have you ever filled the gap on a coupe?

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  Před měsícem +1

      I have used all metal in that exact seam before. Seems to hold up. I will say lead is the best but I haven’t mastered putting it back in. I have also welded sheet metal in over the gap like you described as well. The mocking bird I filled that seam with all metal and not worried at all.

    Hi Jon, great info! I have a 67 Camaro and have to remove back glass to reveal water damage(getting water in trunk) The under side of filler panel has some holes. I can't afford to cut out window channels and weld/paint right now- how would you try and repair damage in channel. I have some Eastwood rust encapsulator I was going to use for now.

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  Před měsícem +2

      Rust is definitely the enemy and stopping is best but if anything slowing it down until repairs can be made is a great idea. Rust encapsulator is a good place to start. Read and follow the directions for best results. You find it’s not as simple as Just paint it on. Plus this car won’t see the weather as much. I bet it’s kept in a garage now which will help as well. If removing the rust but cutting it out or media blading isn’t an option yet then seal up the rust for now until it can be addressed.
