If only if I lived closer... I would helped load that Bird with you! But yet you made it look EASY!!! lol
I was left home alone so crazy things happen. I wasn’t missing my sandblasting appointment
$800 seems like a great price. Cost me $1000 for a mobile Dustless Blasting guy to do my Sunbird shell on the rotisserie, hood, doors, fenders, and hatch…..EIGHT YEARS AGO. 😂
I am not unhappy at all with the price. I was just very spoiled from the old sand blaster guy. I will definitely be using Scott’s again
Yikes…. Jon , I was holding my breath watching you pull the body onto the trailer- waiting for a caster to slip off the ramps. Best to have a helper, but “do as I say “ rules here- I’d be doing the same thing. Great informative video, as always!👍👍
I don’t disagree, it was definitely the sketchiest thing I have done in awhile.
Can’t wait to see the DRD! It was a pain getting all the sand out of mine. Haha. Well worth it though, perfect canvas to start with after media blasting.
lol well I am afraid you will be like that’s the DRD!?! Seriously 🤣
great tips Jon. Car is so solid. Really impressed with your ability to drag that baby up onto the trailer by yourself. lol. Not sure I would have attempted that. You are the man.
Desperate man on a mission. I didn’t want to miss the media blaster appointment, I was home alone so I went for it.
Looking good!
I agree, this will make a great foundation for a build
You always come up with the best ideas :)
Thanks I have a lot of help and inspiration from my family
Came out really solid!
This will make for a great foundation for this build.
Laser rust removal is the latest and greatest craze. However, it's pricey to get into buying equipment. Some markets have mobile LRR services available.
I have seen those, I suppose in a few more years it will be more common practice as well
Awesome tips!
Glad you like them!
Good information to know👍
Glad it helped. Learned some of this the hard way
Shortly after this one began I was asking the computer how will you get that on the trailer. I too have to work alone.
I count a luck quite a bit fortunately an empty car body isn’t as heavy as we would think.
Nice vlog on project mocking bird John!! Keep up the fantastic work sir!!!👍🏽
Thanks, will do!
Mockingbird is looking good 👍. Agree with all the points you made about prepping for blasting. A few keys to blasting the long flat pannels is low pressure say 40 or less psi and high volume of fine media keep distance and keep moving. Wet blasted makes it easier not to warp pannels but what a mess to cleanup.
I did wet blasting once metal came out great but me and my dad have hours and hours of clean up afterwards and that makes it way less appealing
😮😮😮 wow 🤩
Thanks!
The guy that blasted mine used dustless blasting (wet) did a beautiful job, but cleanup was a bitch. when the wet media dried it stuck in the crevices, so I had to scrape to get it loose and vacuumed up. the welds on that subframe are really buggered!
I did the dustless blasting last time and the clean up was a nightmare. It caked up in a lot of hard to reach areas. I would rather skip the water part from now on
Great video a lot of information on this one I do appreciate your knowledge buddy and by the way, the bird is looking great. I can't wait to see my 68 convertible. In this condition.
You are getting there. The fun part for you has just begun all the metal work.
Great content and very nice job....can't wait to see more....thanks
Anytime
Thanks for the video!
You bet!
wonder if you could go over welder settings and wire size thanks Jon
Great idea. I will do that. For the most part I use 0.030 wire for everything then tweak the setting for heavier metals
That one caster came soooo close to rolling off the ramp. For some reason it just switched directions and centered itself again.
Yeah I saw that when editing. It really was one of the sketchiest parts I things I have done in awhile
@@VinylVillageGarage I would have gone for it myself. When I want to get something done I just do it and hope for the best. I have a difficult time waiting.
@@stevenpringle7813 I am with you when I get an idea or goal in my head it’s on.
There’s a new laser rust removal.
I have seen that. Looks impressive
Jon you have gave me more answers yet again. I was looking for someone to blast my car , but I don’t want the hole car done. U said he did the dash. Did he do the inside of your dash? Cause that’s where I need mine blasted at the rest I will do. If so how did it look cause Hes only 35 mins away so considering it based off your review.
Yup he did inside firewall and dash for me. Plus windshield channel. He did exactly the areas requested and definitely he is the first call for my next project.
💪😎
Thanks!
ProDip Indy is there in Indiana , Why not Chemical dip your projects? Pros/ Cons ? Great Stuff ! 👍
Yup talked to them $2,000 to dip just the body shell, I can’t justify that expense
😊
Thanks!
Hey I got a Pontiac 350 2 bolt main from a 72 LeMans are you interested in buying it cheap
Thanks but I have 4 350s on the shop floor now. I can’t bring myself to trash them
👍👍👍👍
👍
You need the wife on the front helping you to get it on the trailer. Pretty difficult by yourself. I thought you might get stuck half way and then it rolls to the side and slips off the ramps.
I was home alone and really didn’t wan to miss my media blasting window again. It’s been long since over due.
300 to 800....Bidenomics defined.....
FJB
I was very happy with the current price I know the old blaster guy was cutting me a deal. I suppose over 20 years of using him might have been why.
Another very helpful video; thanks Jon!
That’s actually still cheap the guy I was looking at told me 1800 and I was like yeahhh nooooo. I will buy the blaster and do it myself for that price
@Night_Owl_PerformanceX interesting I would find a way to do it myself as well.
