i’m amazed this man still has all 10 fingers the way he uses his tools

I know right? Causes anxiety too.

I'm glad that you mentioned that it took a whole week to build this.
Watching youtubers build cool stuff can be a little disheartening sometimes, because I feel like there's no way I'd be able to build things anywhere near the speed and efficiency that they do it at.
It made the whole process seem doable.
Efficiency? In this video? Oh, you’ve got jokes. LOL!

I like large arcs and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
😂 😂
My brother and I built a simple, but fairly successful, van der Graff generator while in high school nearly *fifty(!) years ago.* As I remember it, he did most of the work (he was *13* at the time!). He submitted it for a science fair at his school, and then I *re* submitted it as a senior year physics project at *my* school.
As I remember it, we mounted two large empty wooden thread spools at the top and bottom, *inside* of a 3" O.D. clear PVC tube.
We got our ideas from a Scientific American collection of science fair projects published in the early sixties. The book also contained homebrew plans for a device to demonstrate NMRI, as well as a *particle accelerator!*
9:28 This dude is straight up sawing on top of a microwave plate. Why though?? lmao
He got it when he took the transformer out of a microwave
Cuz it’s electroboom

How to use tools the least safe way possible (Ft. ElectroBOOM) would be a better title
Then all his videos would be titled the same
I was cringing so hard every time he used a power tool. Kids don’t do what he do.
ah so refreshing to see somebody handling power tools in that manner. We have enough goody two shoes on this stupid platform and children shouldnt be using those in the first place.
Also, I paused the video only to answer to this comment that would obviously be there. And now I shall resume.
Most of it is perfect aye okay except when he’s using the saw. That made me cringe.
glad to see your using goggles with the angle grinder Mehdi! I'm really not one for lecturing about how to use tools but it is suuuper easy to blind yourself using a grinder, particually with metal !
Dear god, I’m praying you bless this man. His use of power tool sooo carelessly is either a demonstration on how skilled he is or his hate for his hands and fingers. Bless him father. Lmao 😂
His wife after this video : where are my clothes
Mehdi : I forgot something at the store, let me get fast.
I don't care if your videos are 2 hours long, I'll watch without a problem
Electroboom, Great build. your brushes rubbing on the belt causes the belt to become more and more conductive in time. The brushes are actually optimal when a 1/4 inch away from the belt. The brushes pick up charge via electrons flying off the belt, not by physical contact. The rubbing brushes will lower performance drastically, and, shorten the lifespan of the belt. Hope this helps! Another thing that can help increase spark length, is add an internal heater at the base of the tower. Seems like a bunch of work, but just an extra hour or so to put it in. Thanks for the video (and I usually spend a full week on my episodes as well, but just dress the same every time to give appearance of a one day film)
How would the heater increase spark length?
@@victoryu6570 doesnt heat add more resistance to currents? Or does that only apply to metal
@@victoryu6570 The heat raises the average kinetic energy of the molecules which makes them move around faster. This leads to an easier ionization of the gas as some of the ionization energy required, is provided by the kinetic energy and therefore by the heater. Furthermore this makes it easier for electrons to get of the pvc pipe and onto the pantyhose (for the same reason, but this time lowering the additional energy needed for the work function not the ionization energy).
see also Thermionic emission and work function
(I am not 100% sure about this)
omg it's plasma channel!!!!

10:21 is there so much energy in the arcs, that the ground bowls get moved?!
Not in the arc, but the bowls get attracted to each other first, then the arc removes attraction and the ball falls back
ElectroBOOM wow
Magnets, how do they work?
...which in turn moves them closer together, causing the stored electricity to arc to the ground wand(?), thereby dispelling the magnetic field due to the loss of charge, but then the generator builds up charge again, causing the EMF to build up again...
Has anyone used this source of periodic motion to build a clock?
Don't you too dream sometimes about all magnets just arcing like these bowls? Oh, what a beautiful world that would be.

Yeah at the very worst a bad cut probably just a scratch. A saw like that won't accidentally cut off you finger.

B.E.R The Night Begins to Shine.
The generator was one of my favorites years ago. The first one I made was just a test of materials... soup can for the collector, thread spools for pulleys ,a small motor and a wide rubber band. To my surprise (physics applied here) the spools had to be reshaped to a convex shape,as a simple parallel shape or a concave shape allowed the rubberband to roll up and off the pulleys. It worked. But,I never went to making a larger model complete. I bought 2 LARGE stainless steel mixing bowls to cut to shape for the collector and the problem arose ... soldering them together ( I had no welder to do the job) . Soldering wouldnt do it. I quit and began making a huge tesla coil, starting with a neon sign transformer of 15.5Kv It created such voltage and field that Ali that ran the small store downstairs was yelling up to my apartment window complaining that his store fluorescent were turned off but were still flashing on n off. I was amazed because I didnt have a Faraday's cage to get into for protection, and still,I created a field of that strength. And Im still alive.
