It's super painful because the inside if your nose is really conductive and has a lot of smell sensors. So your brain freaks out when the electricity flows through.

I had a science teacher show us one of these once and he did the cupcake wrapper thing but slightly differently. He used larger, tin wrappers and stacked them up on top of the orb before turning it on. They then got thrown off one at a time from top to bottom. It was especially cool because the rhythm was very consistent, just like those arcs in the video.

this is my favorite video so far! so glad I subscribed to this channel, the part at 6:00 is an awesome example of the fundamental concept behind Nikola Tesla's last project: Wardenclyffe Tower, when he powered it, the nearby horses were driven into a frenzy due to the iron in their shoes picking up the charge... a sad day for Mr. Tesla indeed.
