- Need a high voltage capacitor? Then look no further! You could make a Leyden Jar, but why not something with 10 times more capacity and smaller?

ElectroBOOM alright so I wanna zap some Afghan kid I go to school with who pretends hes irani. I want to take this jar and shock him. How do I ground it while charging? Do i take a wire and attach to myself? And how do i shock him. Does he have to touch both terminals?
We always learn with your videos..🙆🙆🙆🙌🙌🙌
You forget to put the painoist name
Elyas Rasti you need to calm down. Just point out his accent
You know a guy has shocked himself alot when he can tell just by looking at a spark how many volts it is.
I think he was judging how far away from touching it was when it sparks. It's about 1 kilovolt per mm.
But then again, he IS an expert on shocking himself as well. ;)
You both are right but it takes a lot of practice to feel the distance ;)
He can tell by the violence of the spark. The loudness and brightness increases with voltage, and he has worked with high voltage enough to recognize roughly the range of the spark.
Make no mistake, that hurt like a bitch getting shocked by. That is stun gun territory.
Composing Gloves so true
Richard Smith.
No. It's simply distance. Anyone with decent scientific training in EE would have used distance.

Electroboom. The channel that literally roasts every 'science' youtube channel.
Well at least king of random didn't lie to others, they just made it wrong and shown lack of results.
Except our beloved Cody'sLab of course.
Which is all they do all the time. Wasting time for their braindead viewers.
And then proceeds to electrocute himself just to prove a point.

I can appreciate people making experiment videos, but without actual scientific exploration those videos have little benefit other than generating views. I wish more people would spend the time to understand why a certain experiment yields a particular result (or doesn't). Thank you Mehdi for doing that.
You are absolutely right! The King of Random just does random stuff without actually understanding the theoretical background most of the time.
I am an educator myself and I love the way Mehdi connects science, fun and (intended) accidents in his videos. He's brilliant!
i mean it was too much actually searching for what happens with the superglue and the borax solution.. i mean you dont have to understand everything or explain it like you are teaching a child, but at least mentioning what actually happens would be a nice touch that i'm missing in tkor videos... but hey at least he is building picknicktables with cupholders... not like you could put your cup ON the table

BOXING RELAX - Then you guys must of had a really lousy college lecturer as this guy’s information is not all correct. He’s an armature in this field of static capacitors with very limited understanding of electrostatics. Being a goofball also makes hard for people to take him seriously.
@@FreeMagneticEnergy2 its not because of lausy lecturer. (India here) college curriculum even in engineering is like 95% theory with no teaching of how it should be use in life.
I study CSE i pass in python, c but i dont know anything about it.
Its like making us learn byheart or teaching us language without teaching us how to speak/use it. Hence we forgot all the stuff very easily
Vanlalchhanhima Vanchhawng - 🔴 Theory has its place, but not as a primary source of information.
I agree... how something works, verses what we can do with it, is a lapse in teaching.
I like using the Leyden jar concept in the form of a large PVC pipe. It works far better, no water is required, and it’s easy to install aluminum foil on both the inside and outside of the capacitor.
Not to mention that the dielectric properties of PVC is extremely high. Making it ideal to build capacitors with.
A series of these advanced capacitors of six or more at 18” diameter by 36” length, is ample to generate small balls of lightning. (Ball lightning) when applied correctly.
@@FreeMagneticEnergy2 we studied basic electrical and electronics. But never really learned when to make use of kirchhoff, various electrical formulas. How o use resistor, zender diode etc. I forgot all of it 😂

Dude...you rock...making science interesting and easy to follow.
Used to make capacitors from baker's foil and landscaping plastic. Roll into a spiral, then stuff into a pipe suck the air out, and fill with transformer oil. Worked nicely for tesla coils because the foil ends were combined to form a lug on each side. You can also make a spiral line pulse generator. Just roll as normal with the inner portion having an extra 4 to 18 turns of foil inside. When discharged the current wave becomes ultra high voltage.
Sounds interesting. I'd like to try this. Can you provide some more details on how you constructed this?
Mehdi: I want to make my own high-voltage capacitor.

High voltage capacitors are nothing to take lightly. They should always be discharged to prevent and "event".

6:16 best drawing skills!
If you fold the edges of the aluminium foil about 5mm in, that will increase the radius on the edges and reduce partial discharges. Meaning the charges will have a harder time flying away.
I learned this visiting a factory for high voltage bushings. ^^
Oh and this was an amazing video! Highly informative! Thank you for this! ^^
folded after or before laminating?
|_shemhamphorasch_| before, if you do it after it's gonna ark over because you left too much aluminum showing
Wouldnt a full roll-over edge be better? That would prevent the charge from ever getting to the actual "edge" where it can unintentionally discharge, right?
It would discharge/flow back to self before it ever made it to the edge to build up enough to cause the discharge we are looking to avoid, perhaps?
Like spoons vs forks in a microwave
I love it when ever he says “capacitor”
The piano though....

Some dude in my country experienced the same on his shack, as a rodent had died inside the electrical cabinet he touched. He was permanently paralyzed except for one finger + eyelids. His interview was carried out by asking him "Is it A, is it B, is it C etc, and he'd answer "yes" or "no" by blinking once or twice to form written sentences.
