I am a wellness coordinator and I can attest to the benefits of walking. I have ran 3 walking challenges within my institution and I received many messages from people saying they lost weight, more energy, etc. Some were able to get their families involved as well.
It was very satisfying to receive those messages because I've been put in this role with no blueprint, building it from the ground up.
How many steps per day would you recommend? I'm never able to reach 10k
@MarianA-uq6ow the average person get 3,000 to 4,000 a day and that simply because majority of us work at a desk all day and by the time we get home we just want to be lazy and unwind. I gave myself a 6,000 goal instead of 10,000. I chose that because it's a little over half the recommendation and I don't feel like I "failed".
My suggestion to people is take your 2 15 minute breaks, take TWO 5 minute breaks during the work day and take a walk. If there are steps, go up and down a few flights. After work, walk about instead of just sitting for the rest of the evening. I go on a walk with my son in the evenings sometimes.
The weekends we go to farmer's markets after my son's soccer games. Just be careful because it's way too easy to spend a lot of money lol.
Set a goal and you'll find yourself increasing it periodically. It gets easier.
@@MarianA-uq6ow one thing I suggest is grabbing a buddy. It's always easier to stick to something when you have someone doing it with you. The participants in the Walking Challenges have told me that's been the best part of it all, having others trying to achieve the same goal.

These conversations makes me feel validated because just like the way you beautiful ladies discussed this dilemma, it’s literally the same thing I say to a friend that is in a similar situation but I feel like I am beginning to sound like a broken record and she still makes excuses for him. I will just send her this podcast for her to watch other people say the same things I say to her. Maybe it will really make her see this type of situation is not ok. Forgive me if this was already mentioned, but in addition to ll these great points about how he is treating her terribly, Is this man even working on himself? Has he changed his diet? I’m curious if she was the same size when they met? maybe he was attracted to what she looked like when they first met and expects her to always look that way. Is it superficial, yes. People like what they like you shouldn’t get mad just move on.
Sure people like what they like, but the way he went about addressing her weight was vile. The ladies offered so many good examples of how to appropriately address weight changes in relationships. I’m fully convinced he’s just pushing her because he can’t stand her and wants to see how far he can take it before she finally dumps him. It’s disgusting but there are plenty of people in this world who are are like that.
It's been a few months and she sad she has always been curvy. Fact is that men will settle for women they aren't attracted to cause they can't get the women they want and they try to punish you for it
