I'm in my 30s and the idea of dating someone in their 50s stresses me out. I agree with Sharon: for me, even as a 37yo, never married, no kids, a 16yr age gap is a lot. But the bigger issue is that he lied. I'd need to know what else (if anything) he lied about.
16 years is insanely crazy ngl, but my main concern is not the age, but if he could lie with something like an age, then wouldn't it be easy then to lie about anything else then if he wanted too? BUT, great episode as usual!
exactly !! lying about your age is a huge thing that can easily be proven false, but what about all the lies he might be telling that aren’t revealed by an ID ?

This same thing happened to me. He lied to me and said he was 35. When I asked why he lied, he said it was because he knew I wouldn't give him the chance if I knew his age. He's not wrong. It's crazy because a few weeks before I found out his real age, we were talking about societal perception of men and women and he made the comment that I was most likely going to end up 35 and alone because I'm beautiful, too smart, and make too much money so no guy is going to like that because it makes me too masculine. But that's not a problem for men because they can get any woman at any age. I asked him if I could attract men then if quit my job, hit my head on a wall, and became homeless and mans had no comment to that. Come to find out, he's living beyond his prophecy. Mans was 48, single, alone, and apparently no woman wants him if he's running around with little girls. Thankfully I listened to my guts. I asked him, if you can lie about something as simple as your age, how am I to believe you're not lying about bigger things? For some reason he was unable to see what him telling a small lie had to do with anything else .

I was thinking the same thing he’s almost 10 years older than he said but they were like don’t act disgusted now and he knew she would be which is why he lied in the first place that blew me like what do y’all mean don’t act disgusted they are very tolerant and accepting cuz liars and uncles especially a combination is an easy hell no from me
Yall weren't letting Sharon land with the dilemma. I completely understood where she was coming from as someone in her late 20s. O understood, both sides. But 35 is still young and a lot of 35yr olds today are not married too. At least in the states.

This was my story in 2020. Met a guy who was 42 when I was 25. He lied to me initially that he was 33 and later told me he was 41, again he said 42( proved with his Passport). That relationship was the worst I’ve ever been in. He was a pure narcissist, he was controlling and he made me the problem. But thank God we ain’t together anymore. I decided 6years age gap max. Toxic relationship is 🥵. The same question people asked me then was @42 not married, no kids, no ex wife, nothing. Something fishy is truly going on.

The thing with age gap is a generational thing. A 26yr old and a 42 yr old have less in common than a 35 yr old and a 51yr old. The age mathematics is the same but the generation us very different
She knows her answer… if you are asking others for the confirmation of what you know.. then she knows she has to break it off.. if she didn’t have an issue with it she wouldn’t have asked at all.
I am 39 and would never date a man in his 50s. The problem is my parents are young. So dating a man in his 50s is too close to my parents age. That's nasty to me.

There’s something very predatory about lying about your age like that. She says its the best relationship shes ever had but are all the things that make it the best also a lie? Also I agree with Sharon on the age gap thing personally as someone who’s grown up around a lot of people in 10 year+ age gap relationships
8:50 lying is the problem. He put his wants above her boundaries. She doesn’t want a partner above a certain age and he knowingly disrespected that.
35 we are still so young.. but you’ll not understand until you reach your 30’s and my parents in their early 50’s it is a huge gap and we don’t even relate on so many things.. they are from completely different generation.

Anytime someone takes away the ability for you to make your own decision about ANYTHING is to me a form of abuse. Instead of him allowing her to get to know him aside from his age he took away her choice to date him. He could’ve simply said his age and told her “just get to know me and then if you decide to continue or not it will be fine.” If they have slept together also, I would be disgusted. Does he have a secret family?

26 is young, she needs to live her life, she has not even experienced life nightmares between 28-30 when you realise you are about to be 30 😅😂 She has loads of great relationships ahead of her, she needs to live! I would have given him a benefit of a doubt if he disclosed to her in that 10 months. The fact that she had to find his ID while he was asleep means she already had a reason that did not sit right with her.

I think for me it’s if you can lie about age what else can you lie about. Plus you knew this would affect my perception of you which then shows your character. I think she’s young and can see if going forward this is his character or not because it could be one mishap but I’m doubtful of someone that can manipulate to get what they want.

If he lie about his age there is no telling what else he will lie about or already have lied about .
The relationship was tainted the moment he chose to lie. Doesn’t matter what he lied about.
Things def change with money 😭. But I think at 26 you’re an adult but like you’ve been 20 for only 6 years. You still new to experiencing adulthood and it being the best relationship I feel like is directly affected by his knowledge and manipulation.
Yea the dating pool is not great rn, but lying doesn’t give her the chance to make a true decision. He’s made it for her by lying. For me trust is huge and you could’ve just said this is my age, let’s go a few dates and see how it goes. Also the expectations for an adult in his 30s to 40s changes too. Granted it’s her choice but if you can’t pull women your age or do not want to, it’s something to be questioned for me.
If she doesn’t mind the age gap, the lying part needs to be the main part addressed since he committed to it for nearly a year and met the fam. Bc older cousin age to father age is 😭

I tell every girl I know to date older now. What can I say Shera taught me well 😌🤭 lol. Men and women are different mentally and we have different needs at different times in our life.
Ladies, I think it's important at this time, especially, to date men who are at least 15 years older than you (especially if you are over 25 years old). And obviously make sure he's financially stable enough to take care of you and you all's family you may create in the future... As women we can't just focus on the small picture we have to think about the bigger picture bc it affects us more than them a lot of the time.

This has happened to me the guy that I was dating. He told me he was my age 30 well I did background checks on him and found out he was almost closer to 40 and I was disgusted. I was disgusted to the fact that he had to lie, and it made me think what else is he lying about? It had nothing to do with me liking him before it was a simple fact that you lied just to talk to me what else would you lie about? because I never told to him about my age cut off, so he could’ve been honest that is what was in the back of my head. Every time I saw him and ultimately affected me.

My ex lied about his age, he had a birthday which I thought was his 39th birthday turns out he was already 39 and was turning 40. I was 27 and the age gap didn't bother me. To lie about 1 year was so pointless to me but I think he didn't want to say he's in his 40s dating a 20 something year old, he also lied about quitting smoking, I dread to think about what else he was hiding. I actually enjoyed our relationship while it lasted but it wasn't meant to be forever.

The full judgement on older people is unreal. Please do not forget that you will get there too. A male is their 40's unmarried and no kids does not instantly raise red flag. Broaden your horizons then maybe such judgements will not be passed.

The difference is that the "20s" are like dog years. People grow SO much in those years. A woman at 26 should be able to grow into the woman she will become, and a romantic partner who is so much older than her could be very influential (maybe even manipulative) to who she will become and the values she will have. A 35 year old woman will be more self-aware and have a better self understanding of her boundaries and her desires for life. So even if she dates someone who is much older than her, she will literally be in a different stage of mental development, to where that person is not so much of a threat to her mental and personal growth. Whereas a 26 year old will still be susceptible to being somewhat "taken advantage of." I have no real ability to say, as I was dating other 26 year olds when I was 26, and now at 33 years old, I date men in their early 40s.
The problem is that to be attracted to someone that young, you must have a fetish or be attracted to their youth and enjoy the power dynamic. That 42 year old man did not mistake her for being older. The older you get, the more obvious age differences become. And it's not about the kids either. Think of it this way, no one over 30 has any business being with someone who hasn't experienced adult life yet. 26 is a lot younger than it seems. In the US that's when you get kicked off your parent's health insurance. You can barely rent a car... He wants to control her which is why he lied to begin with. It's about owning her youth.

I was in a similar situation with old girl but my entanglement was a lot worse than hers😂😂😂 I’m glad mine lasted for 2 months as he’s a b¡tch boy in a decaying body (I legit resented him the more I found out about him - even the family don’t want him near me - I moved away). He had 4 kid by 4 different women and never married at least one of them🚩🚩🚩 😅
