Exactly what I thought about, Joan was so salty and couldn't be happy for her best friend because she was jealous. I will never forget when she made that man move his stuff out in the middle of Toni's party 😕

Didn't think of the no bridesmaid idea. Such a smart idea! I've been married B4 and they purposely made me late 2hrs to my own wedding because I'm supposed to "make an entrance". Literally prevented me from leaving the house. My family was PISSED at me. People were calling me non stop. Now for my 2nd marriage--if I do get remarried I don't think I would do it again. People are too much to manage
Family before friends. Yall New Age people is going to learn this. Yes family can hurt you but I guarantee every cousin, sister, brother, aunt, uncle isn't against you. Meanwhile, yall think yall choosing friends meanwhile yall choosing the beginning of a nightmare. I know from expert.
When I got married (now happily divorced), one of my best friends wasn't sure if she was going to be able to make it so naturally I couldn't put things on hold until she was able to make a decision. She ended up texting me 2 days before the ceremony to let me know she would be there. But by then my bridesmaids were set and everything.
She ended up not speaking to me for 5 months despite me reaching out many times. When she finally responded she said she was upset because my other friends were standing by my side. We were on speaking terms after the conversation but it didn't take long for her to go ghost again. That was in 2015 and here we are in 2023 and have only spoken one time. It hurts because we called each other sis since high school but I learned that I will not always receive the same energy I put out. I had 3 bridesmaids and I only speak to 1 of them now. *shrug*
She is selfish, you are not going to put yourself on hold on your one day. And you are not going to call me 2 days before the wedding and expect me to just add you. It’s either you are there from the beginning or you are not and if you feel some type of way. Then good riddance. I don’t understand how we women are like that. It’s annoying. It’s your friends one day. Put your shyt aside and assist them or come as a guest.
I've done that lekki to benin drive and it's usually 6-7hrs in reality even if you leave at 7am. Only way she could make it is flying 😂

Honestly, I think the bride needs to keep focused on her new hubby and live her best life. Even if she gets an answer about why, it's not going to make her friend's shitty behaviour acceptable. That friendship has run its course
Deja vu I had a friend who didn't show up as a bridesmaid at my wedding, I found out the morning of the wedding because the dress maker called to say she didn't pay the balance nor pick up the dress, but she came as a guest at the reception. 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀ We made up a few months later, face forward 16 years later I realized she wasn't a true friend.

My sister has lent me money in the past for a destination wedding.
It’s definitely to do with money but like said there should be room for honest conversations on your financial circumstances at the time before committing one’s self.
You can never feel jealous or envious of your friend’s happy events, i.e: being engaged, to be married. You, as a friend, let alone a best friend, celebrate it as though it was your own. In that, God will bless you when your turn comes. Furthermore, you being around friends who are receiving blessings (whatever they may be) only means that blessings are in neighborhood - yours is next..

Tidal does have a huge sound difference- they don't condense /compress the tracks as much when uploading if you listen to the hifi mode. All platforms compress music because hosting full music tracks would take a massive amount of server space/data and honestly most everyday speakers/headphones don't have the capacity. Think of it like watching something in 4k vs 720pp but with audio. The biggest time I noticed it was listening to Pink and White by Frank Ocean and playing it from my partner's speakers- there were undercurrents to the music I had never even picked up on before despite having listened to that song for YEARS. They also pay artists more streams from what I remember.

funny that Beatrice mentions that 'money is the root of evil'. I was literally having this conversation with self and I legit hear you. but I would really have a convo with you guys about, because i have such a different relationship with money.
Yh I have tidal the quality is really good there are even some songs that tell u that your sound system can’t handle it. I love it but Spotify has more features that wish tidal could implement so pros and cons it depends what u are looking for really.

Brides aren’t honest with themselves about the friends/family who would be bridesmaids. If you have friends/family that can’t afford your vision or are unreliable I can see how you would end up not wanting bridesmaids at all. Which is fair. Besides the money, not being able to trust friends/family will be reliable on your wedding day is a little sad.

I have to wonder if the "best friend" from the dilemma was trying to get a big reaction out of the bride, and she just kept trying when the bride wouldn't allow the friend's antics to ruin her experience.
I love your podcast although I would like to make a request. When the topic of conversation is mostly reading dilemmas or stories we only really get to know your opinions. It’s popular to do dilemmas and they’re quite popular. What separates them is the individuals input. Mostly what’s shaped them and their experiences. The dilemma should allow for self disclosure which isn’t always comfortable but me asa viewer would relate and feel connected to you each. I just miss that factor here and it’s had to tune in.
God will not let us have best friends that will be strolling into our wedding hours after it has ended.

This is the best advice you will get because this is Christian advice.
1. Never try to figure out what's going on in someone's head. It will drive you crazy and obsessive and most of all, you'll never truly know what someone is thinking. All you can do is go by actions. Based on her actions, your best friend was/is upset about something. That's all you know.
2. Moving forward, you need to reflect on your friendship with her. Has she always become emotionally and physically detached when you reach certain milestones in life or is this the first occasion? If this is the first occasion, I would suggest to give your friendship time to rebuild that connection. It will be different because now you're a married woman, but you can still have a good female friend. If she has always become emotionally and physically detached when you reach certain milestones, then you know that this is typical of her character. In that case, you can pull away from her. I wouldn't necessarily suggest to stop being friends but definitely do not get close to her again.
3. Do not get angry with her. Marriage is huge event for everyone: the couple, the family, and th le friends. I know people aren't going to like this but it's up to you to be the patient one. Give her time to accept and learn her new place in your life. #3 will come in handy for future conversations because I am sure this discussion is not done. Oh. And please don't have this conversation when you've been drinking because 9/10 it will lead to a huge argument.

Also there’s something about knowing your friend is getting married, there’s already a lot of stress and anxiety surrounding that day and you have the audacity making requests directly to her, like to book you another mode of transport. Couldn’t she call another one of the bridesmaids or a maid of honour ?And then you fight with the makeup artist… why?

In my opinion that girl( the supposed best friend to the bride) is not a good person. Why are you acting like that on your BEST FRIEND big day?? What's her excuse?? Did she find out her friend is having unhealthy relations with her daddy or the friend emptied her account or did something that's completely unacceptable for her to be acting like that. The crazy part of this dilemma is that her excuse is not even excusing at all, she is moving mad because she felt a certain way??? IT'S HER BEST FRIEND WEDDING O!!!!! I don't fully agree that the best friend is a bad friend because of how she acted during the wedding. At the very least she tried to show up. I have had fall-outs with my best friend but that was simply because she was having a really bad day and a hard time--she was bad at managing time, in a new environment, homesick, not used to traveling and had recently gone thru a breakup. She apologized after I had expressed my feelings about it to her, because she genuinely cares about me. So, let's give the best friend some grace bc we don't know the extent of their friendship and how she has shown up for her in other ways. If we have more information, the bride can love her from a distance.
At the very least she tried to show up? This her best friend’s WEDDING DAY. It’s not just some party. She wasn’t even able to give any proper reasons about why she acted the way she did, her reasons weren’t even making sense. And you don’t believe that she’s a bad friend???

If you call yourself someone’s best friend, sister, big supporter and on their one day, you cannot put your feelings aside and be their biggest cheerleader. Please just remove yourself from that friendship because I will never trust you and and I will second guess the friendship.
