“Endings don’t matter”
Clearly Connor didn’t see how the ending of Game of Thrones retroactively ruined the entire series for many people.
The ending of GOT did not ruin the show. The entire second half of the show ruined it.
@@popkhorne5372Lmao are you living under a rock? The whole final season was shit. They ruined the white Walker plot and rushed Danys madness. Whole season was trash
@@mijanhoque1740 read my comment again.
@@mijanhoque1740They aren't disagreeing that the last season was bad, they are clarifying that the last 4 seasons were bad and contributed to "ruining" the show
@@mijanhoque1740 Read his comment again, but this time more slowly
Unless his comment was very different before his "edited" one 🤷♂
6:26 Gotta respect Conor still refusing to spoil Deathnote 15 years later lol
It's a great starter anime so I appreciate that.
In my eyes, if a series is well over a DECADE, you can openly discuss its ending without stepping one anyones toes.
Not to mention, it’s probably one of the most well known endings or moments of the series. Much like Aerith dying in the original FFVII. Everyone already knows.
@@galaxy_kitten95nah mate.....if anyone got chance of experiencing full metal or code gease ending for first time SHOULDN'T be spoiled even 100 years later 😂
@@galaxy_kitten95Those moments are only so well known because people won't shut up about them. Talking about it when it's not even the original topic. I still haven't watched Cyberpunk because the ending was blasted everywhere online the day it came out, and months after. I was never able to experience the movie "6th sense" because no one can keep themselves from telling a little kid about it.
@@youdungoofed1reminds me of when I watched a video where a guy said that he and his sister each rented a movie to watch one after another and his sister’s movie movie spoiled his, sixth sense.
Garnt: I hate multiple ending
Also Garnt: Massive Fate fan
Multiple ending games*
Dude. Connor saying that, "endings don't matter that much" might be his worst take yet
Maybe he means the real endings where the friends we made in the way
I agree with him about that
To some extent connor is right on this one,the thing that we mostly remembered fondly in a show or manga we consume is the journey not the destination,if it had good ending its just an icinng on the cake but if it had an amazing ending then it elevated the story so it heavily depends on what is the story trying to do
@@rayq4235 On the other hand, a bad ending can taint the reputation of a manga, for good or bad reasons.
Case in point, SNK.
A bad ending just makes the reader feel like they wasted their time.
@@absolutelynotgriffith1954 Agreed. Take yugioh for example. The ending of Vrains saved the final season for me despite how rocky that season was while Arc V will never live either of its endings down even though I've only heard good things about the manga except for the last panel.
Man, I love the first half of Steins Gate, I never realized people thought it was boring until recently.
I like it too. It’s the slower part but the series wouldn’t work without it.
even S;G0 really, it explains what happens in he other timeline with a super compelling and interesting story, which, in my opinions, makes the experience of the S1 ending EVEN BETTER. It's trully a masterpiece.
Same, I thought the first half was super fun with all the character interactions, humor and foreshadowing.
imo its cringe af
I still want to believe that 'boring' is just the easier way to say that they prefer the second half, because I refuse to believe someone would watch 11 episodes of something that they think is boring, like I wouldn't go past episode 3 if that was the case
Most iconic is definitely the Code Geass ending, but my favorite in terms of how well it worked as an ending is the Mob Psycho 100 ending. The ending resolved every single plot thread and showed us the payoff for each character's personal arcs. It really wrapped everything in a neat bow
Mob Psycho is the GOAT
So did FMAB though.
Yep nothing can top the Code Geass ending.
Still holds the crown even to this day. It has held the crown for 15 years
What about Cowboy Bepop or Monster?
@@shyguy5473 Monster? Heck no. That was a half done incomplete ending. Cowboy bepop is a fair runner up or 3rd place but come on it wasn't nearly as iconic as the Code Geass ending
After a code geass rewatch as an adult, the ending is really the only thing that has aged well. The show was a lot worse than I remembered, but the ending is still good.
@@andrewkeshan8649How was Monster incomplete?
@@Ash_Wen-li it was just too open of an ending considering how deep the story was. it could have answered a few more things at least but left us with unnecessary amount of questions still. But hey Naoki Urasawa is not that famous for his endings 20th century boys for example had a really shitty ending as well
Madoka Magica had a great ending. The movie Rebellion does too. Though now it's just set up since the sequel is finally coming next year. It even fits Connor's desire for a shocking ending but then again these guys don't remember either of the 2 endings.
the ending of the series was so good, but rebellion ending was even better, they are the madoka and homura ending respectively
@@Super-Senior-ImpermanenceI love the part where Madoka just says "I am the Madoka Magika" and Magika'd everywhere
@@GucciPucciMIH a magical moment for sure
We finally got Walpurgisnacht Rising announced continuingly, I'm so happy to see this movie after Rebellion!
Yu-Gi-Oh had an amazing ending! Yugi vs Atem for the final duel then to have Atem leave for the afterlife at the end. The problem is 4KidsTV makes us look at it like a kids cartoon as opposed to a real Shonen manga/anime. Rurouni Kenshin and Haikyuu manga had a great ending too!
What made the ending even better is the fact that yugioh was just a bunch of BS and goofy cheating that you cant help but smile at if you know how to play the game so you never actually expect a good ending to come out of it. Hell the beginning was yugis grandpa getting kidnapped and dying because kaiba beat him in a duel for a blue eyes he couldve just stole. Show was so unintentionally silly that the ending actually catches you by surprise.
@@Unknownz000 that’s because you never watched Yu-Gi-Oh season 0. The Death T arc is a different and much more fleshed out D & D version of the 1st episode which better explains Kaiba’s motivation to get the blue eyes, etc., Also the timing between when the card game came out vs when the anime started in Japan had a lot more gap time as opposed to overseas where we got both simultaneously. The official card game hasn’t been established in the manga until battle city.
As expected, Code Geass ending hasn't been topped.
It’s impossible to forget Tatami Galaxy’s ending if you actually watched it
exactly haha! The last 3 episodes are Yuasa at his best. Maybe my favourite besides Bebop. And by extension, i'll add Champloo and Ping Pong as well
Code Geass still has the peak ending.
Say what you will about the 2nd season of Code Geass, that shit had a perfect ending which is why it deserved the top one, and also why the movies don't exist.
Same. The plot was all over the place in the second season but it’s still my favorite anime and the ending was the first one that made me feel “the void”.
Kiddo the movie takes place in an alternative universe
That is why Shirley is alive 😊
Here is a list of endings that come to mind. Not all of them are the best though:-
Cowboy Bepop - That last fight with Vicious was so insane.
Steins Gate - Garnt gave the reason in the video. Also the Steins Gate movie is underrated.
Saekano: How to raise a boring girlfriend - Best girl wins.
Assassination Classroom - Like Joey said in the video it made me tear up when he did the last roll call.
Mob psycho 💯 - It was incredible journey and Mob's development was insane.
Monster - A unique ending which I will not forget.
Odd Taxi - Concluded everything nicely.
Vivy fluorite eye's song - It was a pretty good ending as it kept me invested until the end.
Summer time rendering - One hell of a ride until the end.
The twists in the last episodes of Odd Taxi were absolutely insane. Especially that last scene with the idol entering the taxi and the implications
You really went and named everything I wanted them to touch upon lmao
@@Shiftinggers I still regret not watching it weekly and binged it an year later.
@@aryaman6528 There must be more that I am forgetting but these were of the top of my head (mostly).
@@shyguy5473 fmab had a solid ending played it pretty safe but was a good conclusion even bakuman had a good ending
My favourite anime have good endings: Assassination Classroom, Madoka Magica, Code Geass. I can't imagine anyone having an anime that hasn't concluded as their fave by nature of the final moment being able to turn a masterpiece into hot garbage or a mid show into something memorable.
Absolutely insane that none of them mentioned JoJo Part 6 as having a memorable ending. It’s unexpected and shocking, but it still makes sense with everything else in the story
The only reason why multiple ending games sorta suck is because a lot of the time they aren't a result of player agency. Typically, you are allowed to play up to a certain point then make a choice or choose at the very end what the ending will be. I know people are exhausted by its presence in discussion, but the best game that allows for multiple endings is Undertale which has like 50 slightly altered endings based on user choice (killing certain characters on a neutral run), or the three main endings (true neutral, true pacifist, and true genocidal). All of which respect your time and reflect on how you played your game. You are rewarded or punished for the way you played, and each route has something different for you to experience along the way rather than just at the end.
they passed gintama so quickly , its literally the perfect ending
Ong man the fact that 2 out of 3 of these men haven't even seen Gintama and the third one hasn't even finished it like lad
Fr man, they sleeping on gintama hard, it has the perfect ending in anime for me, and one of the best third acts with 3-4 top shonen arcs back to back
@@Multimanplayer I mean, Gintama is top of a LOT of lists from people who’ve seen it. If you’ve seen Gintama, chances are you considered it one of the best animes you’ve ever seen, with a brilliant sense of humo ur and incredibly good characterisation. It’s ridiculous that three people whose lives and livings revolve around anime still haven’t watched in full what is largely considered to be a modern comic masterpiece.
@@ivans562 absolutely agreed
If done right, replaying it for the hardest ending is the way to go. If you play Ib, if you're not a streamer, you need to get the normal ending (Memory's Crannies) first, only then will you fully appreciate Promise of Reunion. On the opposite end, if you got Witch's House normal ending, you've escaped, good. And then you get the true ending and realize in the hindsight that it wasn't a good thing.
With addition of Undertale... simply put, multiple endings work with assumptions that you'll be replaying the game for a different ending. Fear and Hunger is a good example too. It's also the game's job to get you invested enough to actually want to get other endings.
THE best anime ending of all time was Space Dandy, all in!
Gurren Lagann is definitely my favorite
Well Berserk can be such example it has not yet ended but i can come out of reading any arc and be like well i feel satisfied but than we know hell never ends for Guts but he just keep moving forward.
Maybe Connor has a point…Neon Genesis had like 4 tries to stick to a landing. And even with their various endings with varying quality it still became a cult classic
True
I recently played Front Mission 3. It has not only 2 different endings. It has separate routes, there you literally fight on different sides of conflict, and in the end fight against one super-enemy.
In my opinion Gundam SEED had one of the best endings in anime. I love the final battle and many of the clashing personalities.
And of course, OG gundam has a lot of really good endings. 8th MS Team, CCA, MSG. Especially the last one with the Char vs Amuro duel.
I don't understand the issue with the first half of Stein's;Gate tbh. Yes, it's slow but it does everything it needs to so well & it gets even better on a re-watch.
Code Geass on the other hand is so overrated in the community like I get it it's a really good ending but everything else? There are so many other animes with much better endings that I can think of. Code Geass as a series is like eating an ice cream or a tiramisu for dessert right after having a really bland meal. Ofcourse you'll end up with a good taste in your mouth but when you look back at the meal overall you'll realise it wasn't very good.
Ok il just say the Chimera arc ending In HXH had me crawl on my bed for a while after watching it so il give it at least that. "Are you there?" 😭😭😭"yes" god dammit Togashi.
imo endings are important. They can make or brake a story, as long as its a satisfying ending its good; satisfaction dosnt have to lean towards good or bad either, i would like to have all endings be good but sometimes its unfeasible and the ending blows but as long as it concludes the story in good fit for whatever is going on then its good. And stories with multiple endings are always plauged with shitty endings because there is always going to be one that is the best and fits the story the best, but even so alternate endings should also be satsifying in their own way.
Hell Re:zero has many endings and not even one for the main timeline yet and they all fit for their timeline in some satisfying way.
since 99% of all endings are decent/mid its hard to commit them to memory or rank them accordingly because theres too many
I like the Higurashi anime's ending, but overall its not a great ending, but it does set up more into the lore of the sequel story Umineko and the witches, for Umineko dont watch the anime its trash compared to the visual novel
I think Shiki is one of the worst "horror" or "suspense" animes iv ever seen but i still think the ending is good.
Endings that I can remember being fantastic include: MGS3, MGSV, The Midnight Meat Train movie, DS3's 2 optional secret endings, DS2's walk away ending, Konosuba, The Cabin in the Woods
Endings that i can remember being really bad are: Blood-C, its all i got really since why would i commit brain storage to something stupid unless its annoyingly stupid like Blood-C's ending
Most of the stuff i watch or read is still on going so they dont have the endings yet or the anime was dropped and never pick back up and i havnt read the source yet. I think Konosuba is the only one for me where the source material is already finished and Iv read it and thought that the ending was good
They tell you pretty early on in cyberpunk that there’s “no happy endings in Night City” so I like that they are all bittersweet
Still a great journey nonetheless
@Ez.bake_evan
Yup. And on Connor’s point about how you get to the end of the game and just pick an option and go with it. Like it’s some Mass effect 3 cookie cutter option just ain’t right.
He ignores that the options you have available are dictated by the decisions you made earlier in the game. And the story specifically leads you to that moment.
As it’s the moment that V finally decides their fate. Vik literally tells you what ever you’re gonna do it has to be now.
And so V’s decision on the roof is V finally taking things into their own hands for better or worse, no more running around looking for a perfect cure that doesn’t exist.
And the fact that none of the endings are really a “happy” ending just gives the choice a bit more weight, as there’s not really a clear “best” ending that people will default to.
Seeing Gintama on that list made me LOL. It was fine content wise but those who followed it live to the end (both anime/manga) should remember the absolute chaos that it became. It's a testament to how much the Shonen Jump editors and anime staff respected Sorachi that he got to finish the manga despite all his shortcomings in time management.
Yeah gintama’s ending is ass😭 so sad this GOAT comedy end like that
I wonder how it must've felt like following the manga as it was ending. I started in 2022 and finished early 2023, well after it was over and I loved the ending. The anime unfortunately took a hit by the end production-wise, due to the time management issues as mentioned, but The Final movie looked great.
Mayer of Yapsburg over here
@@KairosSU no way u watched the ending lmao, that was fire
I am literally avoiding Gintama ending because I didn't wanted it to end that's why I didn't watch Gintama watching Gintama The Final movie.
One of your points was around having only one choice at the end to get different endings. I think a game that did this really well was Nier;Automata. While this has multiple endings, the canon route is basically one linear path up until endings C/D where it really throws a gutwrenching (albeit cliche) choice. In general, stories around philosophy and ethics can probably achieve this really well.
Sometimes I just watch Code Geass final episode to enjoy a good half hour of my time.
I prefer multiple endings in rpgs. Player choice is huge. And while I do get the issue of having it being done only at the end can be half assed, I did enjoy it in KOTOR. Yeah the dark side ending is extreme but damn it is effective.
We need a ending to GANTZ
Not a full show, just the last phase3 ending as a epic season.
Cant deny itd be epic, just tossed right into the action.
oh yes can't wait for the room of wisdom animated lmao that shit is going to be the most hilarious stuff i could ever see
I couldnt be more disagree with connor on @8:20
Ending is the most important of the story, if the ending is mediocre or good, it will still be rewatchable / rereadable again if the start to before ending story is good.
But if the ending is bad or really bad, most of the time you cant even force yourself to watch/read that story again even if you really like that story.
A really famous example is Games of thrones....the ending is so trash i cant even finish the last season and i dont even want to rewatch season 1-4 again after they drop that kind of garbage ending
Damn that Raoh and Kenshiro action figures in the BG :| I want both of those!
The ending in Tatami Galaxy made it one of my favorite anime of all time
What about the ending of initial D first stage? Kiseki no Hana playing as it zooms out signaling that takumis mind has been opened was so moving to me at the time
Monster had one of the best endings
Forget Memorable Endings
Memorable Episodes are where its at
Madoka episode 3, Gurren Lagann episode 8, Goblin Slayer episode 1, Shield Hero Episode 4, Dragon Ball Z when Goku goes SS1, Bleach when Ichigo goes Vasto Lorde, Naruto Shippuden When Naruto watches Pain stab Hinata, so many great episodes
You went from "episodes" to talking about transformations 🤣
@@SonGoku-tp8gb because remembering the episode number for shonen is difficult when these shows are like 20 years old
I didn't cry at Ano Hana, but back then I wouldn't cry over anything. Not even Tales of Ba Sing Se. Nowadays I probably would dry over Ano Hana (though I don't really remember the ending).
The most underrated ending is Gintama
Can't ever forget Clannad After Story
I thought the list was about endings songs the whole time
2:07 Connor wtf lol
Samurai champloo and cowboy bebop had amazing ending. Every episode of cowboy bebop is a masterpiece, I can pause at any moment and use it as a wallpaper it’s pretty and world is amazing with good story as well
"The ending is paramount"
-Glass Reflection
Connor doesnt want to be there 😂😂😂
The issue with Steins Gate anime being kinda dull looking really is funny because the VN was so beautiful.
Steins Gate VN being a fairly common beginner VN, at least the one i started with, and having incredible art really set me up for disappointment with other VNs art style lol
Took me like 3 minutes to realize they were talking about "series endings" not "ending songs" 😅😂
Naruto's original ending (the one in the manga) is way better than the ending in the anime in terms of execution, build-up, and everything else. Chp. 699 is what I'm talking about- the moment where Naruto hands over Sasuke's headband to him is the actual narrative conclusion to the series.
I personally think it's easily one of the best conclusions in manga to ever exist cause of how well it wraps up the tale of Naruto Uzumaki, his dynamic with Sasuke and everyone else, the themes and philosophies explored within Naruto, etc. And above all, IT'S MOST DEFINITELY NOT COOKIE CUTTER.
Too bad the fans of the series and so-called "critics" are too busy ranting on why a background character didn't get an arc of their own or why the story didn't go as they had planned, instead of appreciating it for what it is and the value it provides as a masterpiece.
2:07 Connor contemplating his life choices😂
Wolf's Rain had a ending wich brought me to tears. Even tough I didnt really liked the ahow.
endings matter but they aren't everything they just feel more precious in anime since we don't get them as often as other mediums
Where is Full metal alchemist brotherhood, right garnt?
Monster ending
I could agree to some point that an ending doesn't matter but in the case of something like Shippuden where the whole story got to that point and it ended up sucking with Black Zetsu
Joey: "Dragonball Z? Well if we're not including GT, i guess..."
The irony
To be fair, that list they're looking at didn't include GT either.
Cowboy Bebop is the most iconic anime ending
When I played Life is Strange I truly thought every choice I made has an impact on the ending... and then when the final episode arrived I realized that the final choice only matters
Assassination classroom’s ending is goated dude. They didn’t praise it enough.
GOT ending being shit tarnished the whole series for me that i couldnt even recommend it to people just to set up disappointment
I think baldurs gate 3 does the multiple endings done right bc theres no true or canon ending. The endjng you go for or the ending you get through your choices is the true or canon ending
Yyh and Ccs had the greatest endings.
Luigi’s Mansion has a good ending
i think some games does multiple endings great but they have to have been made around it but i would rather have one great ending than 3 mediocre endings and most games dosnt need multiple endings
as for is endings important a bad ending can ruin a story a great ending can set it as a great although some stories are less dependant on the ending like 90% of good adventure stories which its about the jurney and not the ending but for many others like mystery series if the conclusion is bad it can ruin the entire story
how important the ending is depends on the story big shocker
Katanagatari didn't have an iconic ending, I don't think.
It however, was underrated af and had the best boss rush in the history of Anime boss rushes. Not many anime has the main character totally shed it and destroy everything that the show has set up as ultimate obstacles while Lotus Juice raps in the background.
Damn you guys mean the literal ending of the anime? I thought it was the ending song, and here I be like, JJK season 1 has gotta be there. I started watching because of the lit ending song.
I like mutliple endings in RPGs though. The whole point is to roleplay, if the game ends exactly the same no matter how you play it thats unsatisfying.
What happened to Connors int he middle?
I personally hate games which give you options but still have the same ending regardless like fucking ddlc. ( I love ddlc )
It's heretical how GunBuster didn't make the list
Game of thrones ending muddied its legacy...endings do matter
Can we just all agree that conner hates anything that doesnt have fighting in it
nah he’s like the biggest Dragon Ball hater for some odd reason 😅
I think red dead redemption 2 did the multiple endings thing really well because it entirely plays off of how the player interacts with the world and not bs side quests and hidden stuff. If the player chooses to be an asshole then you get the bad ending and if you try to be a good guy you get the good ending.
I loved the ending to Dororo. And Yuyu Hakusho and Erased and FMA Brotherhood. I'm sure some more will come to my head lol
Dororo ending bad
Erased ending is awful with so many things unanswered. FMAB just has a simple, safe ending. 2003 had a much more interesting ending
@@KingR098 okay 😅
@@a_mirror1426 alrighty 😅
@@KingR098FMA 2003's ending didn't even make sense and had so many problems.
Darling in the Franxx was definently the best ending
Lmao 😂
I know this is probably sarcasm, but I personally unironically enjoyed all of DitF up until the end. Wasn't disappointed, didn't had issues with final episodes and the ending.
defo sarcasm but yh weird ass fking ending, show was good though dk why it’s gets so much hate, I think people just bandwagon on the hate train
For clarification I enjoyed the show and while the ending did come out of left field I did enjoy it.
This better be sarcasm or expect a strong worded email from me.
definitely dont agree with your Your lie in april take, not only was kaori(the one who SAVED kousei) shown to have problems from the start, so it wasnt cheap or anything and also the second half revolving around her sickness really showcased kouseis growth as a person. he didnt become a shell when kaori died like he became when his mother died, and the ending showed that perfectly. beautiful anime, i gotta say the artstyle for ylia is too underrated, its in my top 2 best anime artstyles with violet evergarden
Aye hell yeah. Grant thinks there was nothing else going on for your lie in april outisde of Kousei's issue with music.
If about multiple ending then how about witcher 3 ?? That game is banging the ending is kinda work out in one way or another
3:36
Did someone pause Connor?
The only thing that didn't surprise me with Death Note was the ending.
The guy in the middle with the pink shirt and deep voice was not amused
I think they forgot about Mob Psycho 100
A game that just hands you the good ending and you have to work for the bad ending is Drakengard. First time you beat it you get the good ending that leads to Drakengard 2. But you get another mission for some reason. You complete that and get a worse ending. Keep doing this and the game gets extremely uncomfortable and weird out of no where. When you complete all the missions you get the ending that leads to NieR. Yes THAT NieR, the game thats actually way more popular and known than Drakengard itself
I liked how Drakengard's bad ending leads into NieR. It's extremely rare to see 'what happens after the bad ending?'.
Only other games off the top of my head that does it was X-Com 2 and Dragon Quest Builder.
@@wchan39 What does X Com 2 and Builder lead to?
@BearWithU X-Com 2 takes place 20 years after the (canon) bad ending in X-Com where you fail to stop the alien invasion.
Dragon Quest Builder's story is basically what happens to the world if the hero fails.
@@wchan39 X Com 2 sounds pretty reasonable lol. X Com was pretty difficult.
Where is domestic no kana jo

Idk man multiple endings in a game is where it's at
Where angel beats at?
Code Geass ending
"Greatest Of All Time"
The Witcher lll dlc blood and wine good ending was very meticulous and the game actually comments how hard you’re trying to get to get the good ending
The normal bittersweet ending is easier and way more satisfying
the death note movie completely fixed the ending, I wish they had used the same for the show
Yooooo Darling in the Franxx has a goated ending 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I think the only anime ending that has truly stuck with me was Revolutionary Girl Utena. Like, it changed me as a person in a positive way and i don't think I've ever been so legit proud of a character before in my life than the final two scenes
Evangelion ending
Imagine Steins gate getting an HBO adaptation, in a western setting, with immature bits removed.
Those bits were special because it led to great character interactions. Otherwise we would have never gotten a "It's so cool. Sonovabitch"
So you want a sterile AI generated show about boring grad students in MIT? The “immature bits” are what gave the characters personality.
Hell nahh i would rather not want Americans to involve in anime
They will do there woke shit by adding women
Or talking about women power Bullshit
Or making some LGBTQ character with propoganda
West should never interfere in anime
Steins gate is my favourite anime
Psychopass and shiki
Ironic they mention cyberpunk when now edgerunners has me trained to cry at a goofy as hell pop song
goat geass and devilman crybaby greatest endings still
Tengen toppa gurren lagann, shoujo kakumei utena, mawaru no penguindrum, mob psycho 100, death parade, heike monogatari and shouwa genroku rakugo endings clears most of this shows honestly
No Ashita no joe, as expected. ppl need to see the greatness
