The melody is super strong; great harmonies, especially with the backing vocals in the chorus; the verse is very chill in comparison to the chorus; it constantly has these 'kicks' forward, like at the end of each line in the first chorus or the trumpets at the end of the bridge. Also just a pretty great+unique singer. The animation for the OP is also crazy iconic, which is not in small part to Hideaki Anno's directing being just absolute top tier in general and a lot of his imagery being used there.

yeah didn't really expect that much from this tier list making but, please make more of this, there are lots of great anime op out there that also deserves to be mentioned.
I have to agree, our German Naruto opening is one of the few ones they really messed up. but most German opening songs are quite good and there are more than a few cases where the widely known English opening is completely different and often bad while the German version is the original music with different lyrics and is really great (for example Digimon)
They should've included the first One Piece german OP as well, it's on par with the Japanese one.

I reallly liked the german Inu Yasha opening way more for example. Since all those shows used to be the afternoon tv program for kids/teens I guess they changed them up for us to better jam to them. But the naruto op sure was a weird one haha

The Parasyte opening is absolutely fantastic. Not only does the music slap, but the lyrics highlight the themes of the anime beautifully.
Parasyte is my favourite anime ever, the end credits music is amazing IMO

For a second I thought you were going to go that entire list without mentioning Bebop, such a legendary opening. Actually probably one of the few soundtracks where the theme has about the same youtube views as every other song
Honestly one of my favorite anime openings has gotta be the Fire Force OP for season 1 (the one by Mrs. green apple) HANDS DOWN. Like the animation in the opening was beautiful, especially the way they did the fire. And it did a great job at getting me excited for the new episode.

I was about to type "Easily the One Punch opening is the best", but then I remember the "New Challenger" opening of Hajime no Ippo. It gets me hyped every time! Very underrated anime as well (rarely see it on people's top tier lists). Also GTO has an awesome opening. Difficult to pick "the best"..
one of my favourite ops that I still listen to is the Angel Beats op called "My Soul, Your Beats!", its so damn good gives goose bumps almost everytime i lsten to it.

As a representative of the German weeb council - we respectfully distance ourselves from any affiliation torwards the German Naruto OP. If you want solid German opening please refer to the classics like Dragonball Z or Digimon.

I like that joey mentioned the guys who did the tokyo ghoul OP. As a musician, the song doesn't just slap, it's also a very good song musically. Very creative, lots of note diversity, and interesting use of different sounds and instruments. Also I don't know if the lyrics hold up as well in Japanese, but it's a pretty powerful song as well.

To be completely real, it's not like the best of all time or anything, but nobody can say that it's not good without knowing a anything about music themselves. The instruments, tempo, the singing and tunes, even the feels are amazing. For me, music wise, the first one stood out to me as far more powerful than the second one. But the second one is far more complexed and bizarre which made it sounds so well.

It’s actually shocking that FMAB didn’t have any submissions.. there are multiple S-tier op’s for it. Imo the problem with FMAB is that it is considered amazing by so many that it isn’t even brought up in discussions anymore, and it seems that it’s being overlooked in these recent years.

I’d say one of the only anime I’ve heard where the ending was more popular than the opening is Free! Iwatobi Swim Club season 1. But yeah honestly, like the Overlord endings, they are so so epic and visually amazing!

I think many people that watch and like many American things are not necessarily obsessed with America. But often get inspired or "borrow" some things because many non-American people see and grow up with American culture all the time. It's things children more and more grow up with. Korea and Japan have grown largely in these past years in the entertaiment era, and we see more and more kids growing up with watching cultures and trends coming from these countries as well now.
Weeaboos, Koreaboos, and bronies are often linked with cultural appropriation and sexualizing races, cartoons, and kids' shows(animals). Wich many can see as a problem or is quite unusual to our norms. This is very stereotypical, but it is largely what is known about the negative side. And of course, it's not everyone that does this, but it has been seen as a problem and as cringy.
But there is nothing wrong with appreciating another culture and watching cartoons and all that.
But especially weeaboos and koreaboos are names originally created and given because people take it too far. They are derogatory and derogatory words. Kind of like a "stan", but worse lol
But again, everyone can appreciate lots of things, it's just weird when people take it too far. Liking anime and K-pop(and other things from those two countries especially) is becoming more and more normal every day and is no longer looked down upon like it used to a few years back.
This was like 3 hours of entertainment because I kept pausing and listened to all the openings.

Penpals' Tell Me Why is a banger, but I do admit when I first heard it, it confused me as I didn't expect that song for that type of anime. That song came out during the age of punk/grudge/inde era band.

Joey didn't want to put Elfen Lied's beautifully unique Liliium in C-tier and I wholeheartedly respect that. That's an S-Tier opening, and only those who have seen the show know what I mean.
i think is crazy to hear all their s tier list is kinda had similar tone. and I just hate all their s tier. maybe not for evangelion or full metal panic. but the rest is not really in my favorite song at all.

I was so "offended" when they put Lillium in C-tier. It easily the most -beautiful- anime opening I have heard and is definitely an S-tier in my book, although I would respect an A-tier since it's so different from other top anime opening, but C?! Nonsense! Blasphemy!
