    Hi. First of all, thank you for such a useful content.
    I am a 9th grader now and have gotten 1420 on March SAT. Is it possible to get into the TOP 50 colleges as an international student with this score? I also have IELTS 7.5. What else do I need to have better chances?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +3

      If you're in 9th grade and you're already taking the SAT, that's a pretty good sign. Right now though, focus on finding your favorite activities and getting excellent grades. The SAT does NOT determine whether you get into a top 50 school in most cases. It's one factor, and not even the most important one. Your grades, activities, and eventually your essays will honestly have more weight than the SAT.

      All the English materials have a button to show the answer for each question. You have to download the files though, if you just open them in Drive it doesn't work.

      You're welcome! If you're having trouble staying focused I understand that, I have a bit of the ADD in my brain. Happens to me too. The important thing is to read what you need. Don't just read from start to finish. You almost never have to do that, if you can train your brain to focus on just the parts you need, then you don't have to read long stretches of text and you won't get distracted as much.

      Read as much as you can, not just to practice for SAT. Reading helps a lot, you need to brush up on grammar and vocabulary as well, and reading will help with that since you will see more good examples of writing in action.

    I wanna ask if I don't know a question should I choice an answer randomly or keep going without answer the question, because I asked chatgpt what should I do in this situation and its answer was " keep going cuz if ur answer wrong you'll lose points but if u don't ansered it and just go ahead u will not lose points," said chatgpt;. so what do think what should I do?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +1

      That is 100% wrong, please don't take test advice from chatGPT hahaha. A wrong answer is just as bad as no answer. I recommend you eliminate any answers you can, take a guess, and mark it for review. Come back if you have time.

    1:16:00 Ques 3 (function of a sentence ques): Answer A is incorrect because it's too general?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem

      No, A is wrong because only one of the two terms is used again in the paragraph, and only once. If the paragraph reused those two terms a lot, I could see a strong reason to choose A. But the rest of the paragraph is about the class conflict.

    Sir, may I ask why the last question(relating to Roman downfall) was attributed to option A?
    After elimination B and C, I was left with A and D. While I was more inclined towars A, D was still in my head. You said "too extreme" but what counts as extreme? I untimately went with A because of my gut feelings but idk if my luck will work always.
    Why did you do so?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +1

      Look at the wording of D. It says "disregarding any role internal moral decay may have played". These are intelligent academics, they're not going to completely disregard that possibility when there's evidence for it. That's why it's too extreme.
      A is much more reasonable, "internal moral decay was not the primary cause" means that the author accepts the other point, but still believes his own point to be better.

      I totally know it's subjective to a person and depends on so many factors but still I want to work for my results and any extra source would be reallly heplful.

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před 4 měsíci

      Analyze the question first. Who is responding to whom? I like to start with the responder's paragraph so I can understand their general attitude. And then I look at the other paragraph to understand its perspective and then just imagine how the other would respond. Look for an answer that matches. You can also eliminate a lot of answers on paired passages because some of them will be way too extreme or indifferent.
