Wow, some real speed demons on this one. Why on earth do people do this, in some instances the sudden slowing due to the water can even trigger the airbags! Slow and steady wins the day.

Depends what you mean by 4x4 drivers.
What we have these days aren't '4x4's but SUVs. That is to say a lot aren't really off terrain vehicles. Havings said that you also need two additional things;
1. Common sense. To know how and when to drive through things like this.
2. Knowledge of your vehicle. The fording depth, where your air intakes and breather pipes are etc.

Check the highway code it is signposted as a ford so it is not surface water but a river or stream 😉😉
They aren’t actually pedestrians they are onlookers and know the chances of getting wet it pretty high

@@toshtoshboy i was crossing the bridge walking my dog, there were no cameras and no crowds watching yet white van man felt the need to made the largest splash he could, drenching me. People in the viewing area could be classed as people watching, people crossing the bridge no.
Just having moved to the nearby village, we drove this way to go to the main road, it wasn't deep then and wondered why all the people were there watching. A week or so later we went that way again, this time it was much deeper,... Now I can see why they were there, needless to say we don't go that way again

@@jwgti2314 Radiator, but I would typically refer to the small pipes and fins inside as the matrix, which is what is most likely to be damaged when ploughing through tons of water at speed 😀

The sound from the Tesla is caused by the fact that the brakes are hardly ever used due to regen braking :)
I really do get the fun (I’ve been here and watched) but please get your kids to watch from a safer distance. How can people let their young kids stand at the edge of the water when a speeding van is hurtling through. Get them behind a fence. And enjoy the spectacle in safety!

Car and water anecdote: I was at a trailhead, surrounded by 4X4s and utes, in New Zealand ready to walk up into the mountains.
Access to this point was along a dirt road and then a drive up a river. You with me?
We could hear another vehicle coming up the river and....there it was... a Fiat Punto. All the other drivers were a little surprised and as the Punto arrived applauded its arrival.
The driver and companion stayed long enough to share coffee , have a chat, and then got back in the car and disappeared back down the river.

I don’t understand why people do this. I live in a cold, snowy city and all the snow is currently melting. I just drove trough and area where there is a lot of runoff and a lot of fairly deep puddles. I drive a 4x4 SUV but I was so worried about damaging my car that I was driving 10km/h and trying to dodge the puddles as much as possible. I don’t know how people can do this on purpose, I wouldn’t put my car trough this🥴
