Frankly lot's of girls say they have a boyfriend as a white lie to turn men down cause many men will respect another man's territory/property I.E. woman, before they take a simple "no" from a woman. Also the boyfriend excuse can be a way to say no while not bruising the man's ego with a flat out rejection. Cause you never know when a man is going to go full incel on you and commit violence upon rejection, you have to be gentle in your no. It's not him, it's that she's unavailable etc. This guy was either not buying her excuse of being taken or just scum who would try to hook up with someone already in a relationship.

Arriving super early is actually a thing with time blindness. I have a hard time judging how long it will take to get places and I have anxiety around being late (I used to be chronically late). So, I usually overestimate the time needed and arrive everywhere inconveniently early. There's also the thing where, in an effort not to get distracted and arrive late somewhere, I just won't do anything but sit and wait until it's time to leave. So much fun.

0:51 *IMPORTANT CONTEXT* some people might be starting petitions like this as a troll now, but the original story that got tons of news and everything was completely fake/twisted around.
The original news story was that a teacher started keeping a litter box in her classroom supply closet after an incident where students (I believe elementary school- ages 5/6 to 11ish, usually) were put on lockdown during a g*n incident, and some students ended up wetting themselves or extremely uncomfortable and upset.
It was an anti-g*n news piece about how insane it is that a teacher would have to resort to these measures. So of course right-wingers turned it around and made it into fake news that they decided to tie into anti-trans bathroom rights bs by saying, “well, if you let x use y bathroom just bc they identify like that, next thing you know people will want a litter box bc they identify as a cat!! One teacher’s already allowing it!”
So basically the entire fuss everyone’s made about it since then was all based on a news piece about the important of keeping children safe by dealing with some of America’s insane g*n laws, which some idiot decided to twist completely to fit an anti-LGBT agenda. It’s so f*cked.

Word of advice: if you find an earring in your guy's car, give them a chance to explain (and prove that explanation) before erupting - especially if they have female relatives that they're close to. If they can't explain themselves, kick them to the curb (obviously...), but don't always assume the worst until you have more to go on.
I say this because, many years ago, I had recently started dating a guy and I found an earring in his car. It was beautiful and was one of the hook style ones, so easy enough to lose. I showed him it and, instead of panicking, he looked relieved. He just said "oh, thank God! Grandma lost that a couple of days ago. She's going to be so happy to get it back, as they were a gift from Grandad" (his Grandad had passed away a few months before that). To check he was telling the truth, I said "let's pop it round now - the sooner she has it, the sooner she can stop worrying". Again, instead of panicking, he responded with "great idea!" and we drove round there. I met his Grandma, she took one look at the earring, cried, and gave me a big hug. Then went and got the other matching one and put them on. I immediately took my own earrings off so that I could give her the rubber backs on them (so that she wouldn't lose them again). I had spare rubber backs at home that I could use for my own earrings - I bought a job lot after losing too many earrings that I really liked!
I married that man not long after and we've been happily married ever since. But that wouldn't have been the case if I'd followed my instinct to erupt when I first saw that earring... Even though there was a perfectly reasonable explanation for it.
So, moral of the story - test them before assuming the worst 👍😎

Time blindness is totally a thing and often a symptom of adhd. I will stress all day and get somewhere for an appointment 1 hour early. Most of the time I remember to set an alarm to go in because I’ve lost track of time before while waiting for the appointment in the parking lot. As others have said it’s not an excuse just an explanation as to why someone like me would be chronically late yet also ridiculously early 🥴

    • @Toasty_Mr.Marsh_
      @Toasty_Mr.Marsh_ Před 5 měsíci +7

I mean set up multiple alarms if you know you have trouble keeping appointments. It’s super rude to keep people waiting. Or just go in to wherever you have an appointment if possible and wait in the lobby instead of your car. Minimize the opportunity to be late. There are only few good excuses to be late but if it’s a constant thing you have to be the one to try harder because you’re wasting everyone else’s time. I have adhd as well and try super hard to no inconvenience anyone with things I can work to be better at.

Knowing that the sources of this litter box lie are hateful people, I really wish Charlotte's staff wouldn't include videos like this. Those who claim this nonsense are trying to equate being transgender with pretending to be an animal. Just stop and think of the level of homophobia one must have to make such a comparison.
Let me put it another way, since I'm older than most of you who didn't live during the Jim Crow era. This isn't the first time I've heard people talk like this, and they were on the wrong side of history then, just as they are now.
I was in 2nd grade when my elementary school accepted it's first black student. Her name was Margaret. The things I heard adults, including teachers, say about having "black kids in a white school" were horrible. The most common phrase heard was something like, "If they're gonna let THAT in our schools, next they'll expect us to teach dogs and monkeys".
Margaret was only a student at our school for 2 months before the bullying was unbearable and her parents put her in private school. We had no more black children until I got to middle school in 1972.
Our racist school boards came up with a "solution", bus the poorest black children from the other side of the county to our schools. Those kids spent 3-4 hours a day sometimes just riding the bus over 20 miles, then they were yelled at by teachers and treated badly. School officials used to bandy around terms like "possible school riots", because they expected our new classmates to be undisciplined savages. I think they purposely treated those students badly so that when they eventually complained about being mistreated, the school employees and board could throw their hands up and say, "See? Those people just want to complain!" One old bag teacher quit because she refused to teach those "N-words"
It all backfired on the haters. Most of us liked our new students, very much, and made lifelong friendships. Musically, a whole new world opened for me! After I heard music from Sam Cooke, The Staple Singers, Marvin Gaye, and others I put away my Archies and Partridge Family records.
      As Mavis Staples sang:
      "If you disrespect anybody
      That you run in to
How in the world do you think
      Anybody's supposed to respect you?"❤‍🩹

So, as someone who has been diagnosed with ADHD and who struggles with being on time to appointments, I want to say that time blindness is very real and extremely diverse. My sister also has ADHD, and she is always at least an hour and a half early to every appointment. That is just as destructive as being late, because that’s time essentially being eaten up by the anxiety that comes with the fear of being late. She hates it, it’s miserable. ADHD is a very complex disorder that significantly affects Executive Function (EF), which includes, organisation, time management, and many other things. I get such bad anxiety from being late that I literally cry, and it still happens. There are people who understand this is a problem and work on it. I learned that if I set my appointments in my phone calendar for 15 - 20 minutes earlier than they actually are and I do not look at reminder texts or listen to reminder voicemails that have the actual time in them, I’m far more likely to show up either early or on time.
A lot of people with this struggle work very hard to be like a neurotypical person, when their brains are literally not neurotypical. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder, meaning that this is the way a person’s brain is, and they don’t get a choice in that. Not only that, but ADHD is often missed in the school systems/developmental years because it manifests differently in each person (this is especially true with girls and women). So, there are a huge amount of people who don’t get diagnosed with ADHD until they are in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and even later in life, so their lives are just this way and they don’t understand that it’s a genuine issue with their brains. With that lack of understanding what’s going on comes self-blame, guilt, people getting pissed off about things like being late or disorganised. Even if you personally don’t understand what it’s like, take it from someone who is 28 and just received a diagnosis of ADHD a year ago. This shit is really hard, and people being judgmental because we aren’t perfect doesn’t help at all. I’ve lived this way my entire life. I was raised by a mum who has ADHD, and she didn’t receive a diagnosis until she was 56. She had no idea what was causing her chronic lateness. All four of my siblings have ADHD as well, and every person who has it shows it in different ways.
In conclusion, try to be gentle with others. No one is perfect, and there are plenty of people who work really hard to “make it” in society. If you don’t understand something, look it up. Educate yourself. Because it’s not just a bad habit of being way too early or late for appointments. There’s so much more to it than that.

As someone with time-blindness, I have at least 2-3 alarms set on my phone to remind me of when I need to leave to be at an appointment or event. Like, I have one for when I need to start getting ready, one for when I need to be done getting ready, and one for when I ABSOLUTELY HAVE to be out the door and in the car. I even do this for my job. I have an alarm to wake up, one for 30 minutes later (in case I decide a shower is not a priority over extra sleep that morning), and one for when I have to be heading out the door to be there before my shift starts. I'm usually either 15 minutes early or just on time.

Fast forward to now and here I am, at 50, with super long hair (past my waist) that is a bright shiny silver white (NOT grey) everywhere, except a bit at the very bottom where it was black (from the final pre-covid dye lol). And while I mind the white much less now that it isn't spotty or salt and pepper but a uniform color; it wasn't anything I thought was any kind of fashion statement other than "I've been single and am not looking and have just been too lazy to get around to dyeing this mess again".
So you can imagine my surprise when some Gen Z bops up to me gushing about the white color and begging to know who did my hair color like that. I was like LOL..... this isn't a dye job, this is old age. (Although I still don't really look old enough for it yet.) Apparently she had thought it was all intentional, including the black tips, which I had to explain were where my dye roots now stopped post-covid. I have the kind of uniform unbroken totally stark silver white you usually only see on little old grannies, and apparently this is cool now lol.

Seriously, No hate to you Charlotte, but Time Blindness is a big deal for a lot of us, and it absolutely *does* mean sometimes we over-correct because people get so upset at us for being late, or we get incredibly upset with ourselves about it. I am a therapist so I totally understand that being on time is incredibly important. I hate making people wait for me. I do my best to communicate if I am running late, but part of time blindness means we don’t always know when that is. I constantly have Waze open to tell me what time I need to leave my house to get somewhere on time. I time myself doing certain tasks/activities to try to get better at noticing how long things take. I set dozens of timers every single day. when my ADHD is really bad (especially when I don’t have access to my medication) it can take me hours to do something that takes neurotypical people minutes. And the whole time my anxiety is through the roof, and my negative self-talk spikes. I have a ton of tools and skills and apps to manage these things and I teach them to my clients. I assure you, the people who actually have Time Blindness (and aren’t just using it as a convenient excuse) know how annoying it is for everyone else. We don’t want to be this way. We work hard to be better. We don’t make plans with people who aren’t able to be flexible or avoid activities that have strict/rigid schedules whenever possible. This means I do things like cut my own hair, and don’t eat at restaurants that require reservations. I make calendar appointments and set alarms for EVERYTHING and I will set the time for things at least 30 minutes before they are actually scheduled whenever possible (it used to be an hour, so I guess that’s progress?). I will drive myself places instead of carpooling so that nobody else has to wait for me if it’s a day I can’t afford to take my meds. Unfortunately stress and anxiety and shame all make Time Blindness worse because we will not notice that we have “zoned out” stressing about being late for so long that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. We aren’t trying to annoy you. Trust me, nobody is more upset with us than we are. I wish people wouldn’t use something that is a serious daily struggle as an excuse to be intentionally inconsiderate or avoid taking responsibility for things. Many of my clients are too stressed or insecure about this struggle to make plans with friends or go out and do things. We get fired from jobs or put on performance plans if we forget to set alarms for our 30 minutes lunch breaks. Unfortunately with ADHD many of the other symptoms make it incredibly difficult to remember to set the timers/alarms/calendar appointments/etc, or we lose track of our phones, or things like this. These things can trigger our Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), or choice paralysis, or decision fatigue, or “ADHD rage” which all make our Time Blindness worse. It can also lead to meltdowns, or shut downs, or at it’s most extreme, ADHD burnout which is a serious medical crisis that makes it impossible to even do the bare minimum of daily life functioning things like eating, sleeping, or taking care of our personal hygiene. Nearly all people with ADHD also have insomnia or Delayed Sleep Phase disorder (DSPD) which means our circadian rhythms don’t match up with day or night triggers (the release of melatonin, etc) so we tend to not be able to fall asleep until 2-6am because our bodies and minds are wired completely differently than neurotypical peoples. What’s worse is all of these things get increasingly exacerbated if we have a change in routine/schedule or some other stressful activity. This often leads to us not being able to sleep at all the night before an activity/appointment. Which I’m sure you can understand would make things like time blindness even worse. Additionally, nearly all of my neurodivergent clients also meet criteria for PTSD because of the continual shame/guilt/anxiety/depression/trauma… we constantly feel while trying to live in a world that doesn’t believe in making accommodations for our disabilities and we are labeled as “lazy” or “flaky” or told we just aren’t trying hard enough… but I assure you, we are all trying harder than you know. We just don’t share our daily struggles with other people because we usually get gaslit or told things like “well, why don’t you just set a reminder for yourself?”

TLDR. I have four kids and the only time I am late is when we have to wait on my pokey hubby cuz he doesnt understand planning ahead and leaving a buffer.
His family was always late because they refuse to rush or move at any pace but slow and “on their own time”.
If you want to be slow and claim “time blindness”. The world doesnt have to accommodate you. Just like no one has to accommodate my ADD or triggers from childhood abuse. I had to learn to focus and I did because no one is going to care about your excuses if you cant focus or remember things all the time. You just wont have a good job or be reliable. If you want responsibility, you have to learn to succeed past your “issues” so you can get done what needs to be done most of the time.
I have to learn how to adjust and accommodate for others as well. If I am habitually late and told about how I cant be late. I move my leaving alarm back to arrive 20min early.
Cuz there is always a kid that needs to use the restroom, someone without shoes on or proper clothes or my pokey hubby.
Adulting isnt that hard. Learn to not make excuses and accommodate the larger group.
No one has to wait for you just cuz you cant figure out how to get somewhere due to “time blindness”. You know about it, adjust.

I moved from Ontario, Canada to Florida of all places for my husband. About 6 months into our time here, he started ignoring me. We started fighting. His glorious idea was that I take a few weeks off to visit a friend in NY because he needed “some space”. So I hauled myself and my two special needs pets back up north.
A few days go by and our security cameras start turning off and on. He calls me crazy. I’m “stalking him”…you know, in my own home. “There is a comm line down.” “The internet has been weird.” MMMMMHMMMMM. Right before I was about to come home, my neighbour calls me asking me when we got the new truck. “Which new truck!?” “The…white one?” “It’s been there overnight?” “Yah…a bunch…shit.”
Obviously I LOSE MY DAMN MIND. Husbands been sneaking his co-worker (this INSUFFERABLE pick-me girl I absolutely despise) into our house. “She’s going through something at home and needed a place to stay!! MMMMMMMMMMHMMMM. They’d been in cahoots. She messages him, he turns the cameras off and they hide her truck on the side of the house without the camera. Swears up and down. “She slept on the couch.”

I shit you not, one day I was following my grandma into her unit at a brisk pace trying to outwalk the guy in his power wheelchair who was flooring it trying to catch up to her with his gf following right behind him in her power wheelchair all pissy because she was jealous of my grandma (who really just wanted to be left alone). 😂

I had spares at home that I could use for my own earrings - I bought a job lot after losing too many earrings!
I married that man not long after and we've been happily married ever since. But that wouldn't have been the case if I'd followed my instinct to erupt when I first saw that earring... Even though there was a perfectly reasonable explanation for it.
So, moral of the story - test them before assuming the worst 👍😎

I adopted a stray cat, and learned the first night that she let's me know when she needs to go out to use the bathroom! Love this cat!❤

I just had a co-worker tell me the other day that being late is a disease. I literally laughed out loud… but she was serious. So I wonder what meds they give for that….? 🤔

My time blindness does make me, on average, 30 mins early for everything. For appointments, it's useful. When I get to a friend's house I have to decide between being extremely early, or sitting in my car looking like a stalker.

He should have told her his frat bros dressed in drag and that's where that pearl earing. That scenario would have been more believable than the gaslighting he was spouting.

As someone with time blindness, yes, I am as often extremely early for things as I am late. Like showing up to work/appointments 40 minutes early. I usually just sit in my car until it is closer to time cause it’s still embarrassing.

when I was about 14 I confessed to my friend through text on valentine's day that I had a crush on her. all she said was "that's cute", I spent the whole weekend stressing out about what her answer could be and what to do when I'd see her again. monday comes, I get to class and I'm super shy and awkward, can barely say anything to her, can't look her in the eye. she was visibly weirded out and eventually told me something along the lines of "get it together, stop being weird". realized at that moment that her lack of answer in my confession meant she wasn't interested.
that's when I learned there's something worse than rejection, and it's to not even get rejected. really makes you feel like you're not even worth their time to get a simple "no".

Wasn't the litter box thing debunked multiple times already? If it's just sarcasm and you don't actually think it's legit then it flew over my head.

the litter boxes were supposed to be used in case of a school shooting, not cause kids wanted to be cats, context matters@@kolbsy

The litter is used for bodily fluid cleanup. It's been in use forever for vomit & other accidents. Clay litter is absorbant & cheap. People believing it is for furries is a level of naivety that is beyond comprehension. Like there are gaggles of furries running around elementary schools.

@@mkarocia Context does matter. Can confirm that the local high school put litter boxes in for a kid who identified as a cat.

I overcompensate for my time blindness by being early for anything important ever. Like I will be 45 minutes early and just sit in my car or drive around until I can reasonably arrive.

The last one happened to me! I didn't see the overnight bag, but when I told him that he could not come up, he told me that he brought the overnight bag because he knew that we would be out late. I still said no and he sat in the car for 1/2 an hour texting me, asking if he could come up! 🤣🤣 When we talked, I asked, "What in any of our conversations led you to think it was a good idea?".

  • @aspcia

😂 As someone with time blindness, it does apply to early also. Only we realize it's too early to leave, so we go do this other thing beforehand because it only takes like 10 minutes, but it actually takes at least 30min... then, omg, oh shyt. I'm late.

As someone with time blindness-yes, in an effort to always be on time I am generally 30 minutes to an hour early to most things that I thought I would arrive right on time for-occasionally if I don’t set a timer/reminder for things I forget things are going on and look over at the clock and it’s been 8 hours but typically they can show up too early for things haha
