Villa Fan, Yes Sheff Wednesday are a real sleeping giant. Would be great to seem them back in the top flight. They were a fabulous team to watch in the Ron Atkinson years. Also remember that great cup tie against Arsenal in the late 70s that went to about 5 replays.
I remember that Arsenal Cup marathon well as I went to each of the games, One at Hillsboro, One at Highbury & 3x replays at Filbert street before we succumed to the Gooners as we always seemed to back then.
Remember listening to that on radio in the evening
four games off winning the league too, there were four in it that year 93 i think
As a fellow Villa fan I agree. Went to Hillsborough many times in the nineties.
Callling Sheff Wed a sleeping giant is similar to calling Birmingham City, Bristol City or even Plymouth Argyle a sleeping giant. All big city clubs have huge potential.
Thanks for the comments Simon. We don’t often have someone with such a profile talking sense about our club. On potential just a little more context for you. Of the 44,000 tickets sold for last year’s playoff final, none went on general sale. All were sold through loyalty schemes. In 2011 for the final game against Wycombe (league one again) the ground sold out at 38,000 but the club received 68,000 enquiries for tickets. No success, ever. But a support base off the scale!
Isn’t he the same guy what says you should never take a potential buyer seriously, if he uses the media to get he’s message across?😂
Laurence Bassini 😂
Thought he was buying Coventry last year
Yes but he has previous experience and I’d say he will get involved buying a club soon, he wasn’t a bad owner to be fair
That caller had him at "This the best show in the world"
Wednesday are like a Ferrari that has been in a garage for 24 years. Big potential given proper restoration, heart and a lot of money. The fear is though they have been away for so long they might be beyond repair..
Good analogy, mate.
Thanks for kind comments Simon, love you to own wednesday one day ❤️
Another over 32k fans at Hillsborough stadium last Saturday for the Stoke City game with being in bottom 3 all season they have the most Expensive tickets in the league & they have sold out their next away game with taking 7k away fans to Blackburn
Massive club Sheffield Wednesday are who deserve lots better
A club on par with man city up until about 2010
You mean bang average, because that's what Man City were
@@jameswiglesworth5004 If a team in the top 15 of most successful English clubs is "bang average" to you, then yes. But I'd say that's pretty above average when you consider there are 92 clubs in the league.
I like Wednesday, they’re a fine old club with great tradition. They should be in the top half of the Prem at least given the size of the club. Be great if SJ could get some decent cash together and buy them.
Get a consortium together Simon and get us bought, we've been crying out for an owner like you for years.
He nearly ruined palace.
He's older and wiser now. He'd use his Palace experience to his and the club's advantage.
Good to see Danny Murphy on brave guy for admitting the problems he been through I am sure you have helped others by going public it's great to see you have put it all behind you and wish you all the best for the future Danny and hold your head high
He did coke, we all have, he just has a platform to talk about it. Simple as. Nothing new to hear from an ex footballer. Talk to the streets to get the real struggles.
Let's hope we can stay in the championship and build on to get promoted to the premier league 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Massive club Sheffield Wednesday and their fans deserve lots better
Sheff Wed have had much more post war success than neighbours Sheff Utd. The Blades are the most under performing/ bottling team in Europe. Name another team in Europe who is on a current run of 14 (yes fourteen) consecutive defeats in massive historic matches. Eg Failed to win their last 8 FA Cup semi finals, lost both EFL cup semi finals and lost all 4 play-off finals. No wonder Blades go into a mental breakdown at the prospect of being in the play-offs or reaching a cup semi final.
Good time to buy ,soon to be 3rd division
@@DavidManifield & even if they do they still average over 26k fans last time when chairman got points took off us! Best fans in England no matter what league they are in
@@sheffsteel7 Sheffield Wednesday are Yorkshires most successful football club
@@DavidManifield why will it the chairman won’t sell if in 3rd tier as won’t get much for it in that league but they have a decent chance to stay up now
Clubs Mr Jordan could consider: Bradford, Swindon, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton, Reading, Notts County. Overseas: Real Zaragoza, St Etienne, Hamburger SV, Fortuna Duesseldorf, Rapid Vienna, Sampdoria, Sparta Rotterdam, maybe others.
Typically great comments about my beloved Wednesday 💙🦉He gets us and clearly has some affection. The guy talks so much sense not just on football.
Good time to buy, heading for div 3
Don't threaten us with a good time, Simon. Get your cheque book out and let's make it happen. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Must start listening to this TalkSport in the mornings
Sheff Wed = David Hirst
There a big club no doubt about it,history, fan base etc.
Although you’d have to be at least late 30s to remember them as a prem league mainstay.
Needs a good owner in to reach there potential.
Having a regular home support of 22K to 24K isn't exactly a big club. In the last 55 years Sheff Wed have never even averaged 30K. Their ground is the most under occupied in the entire football league, rarely ever more than 75% full since the 1960's. The history when they were really good is early 30's, early 60's and early 90's, which admittedly is decent history but it's long in the past.
@@sheffsteel7 Given the ticket prices we pay and the yoyoing between the Champ and L1 for 24 years, getting a solid 24K average is pretty good tbh. I reckon if we had a Prem season we'd see 30K+ easily.
They have huge potential!! My Grandad was a Wednesday fan from Parson Cross estate, along with his 9 brothers (ones a Blade) and I have never understood no one buying into it.
Thank you . We do turn up all we ask is the players turn up . And they do . We love them ALL
Sheffield Wednesday fan with a London accent. Very strange!!
We’re everywhere 🦉🦉
Irish-Owl here we are spread far and wide hahaha
We're all Wednesday aren't weyy?!!
His father could have been from sheffield. Brought up in london
Viva mexico 🇲🇽 🦉💪🏻
Sheffield Wednesday last 3 home league games have had attendances of 28,516k fans last night against Norwich City with only 2K away fans then before that after losing to Ipswich Town 6-0 away our next home game against Swansea City again over 28k fans then the game before that they was over 30k fans against Leeds United let’s not forget they have been in bottom 3 of the table all season they also have the Most Expensive Ticket Prices in our league
SWFC is only 4 Miles away from SUFC ground & let’s not forget they have not been in the Premier League for almost 24 seasons
Sheffield is the birthplace of football with Sheffield fc been the Worlds Oldest football club & the city of Sheffield is Englands 4th Largest city plus it’s also a great Boxing 🥊 city
Yes it’s a great club to Buy is vv SWFC 👍👍👊
Thought it seemed high for Sheff Wed but you forgot to mention it was SWFC 5000th celebtration match so the club gave away 5000 free tickets to boost the attendance. Only 21K paying home fans. Altho I am actually a fan of yours, love your enthusuasm on BBC Radio Sheff for SWFC and Sheffield itself.
@@sheffsteel7 & only 2K of them fans went and they still got 28,516k fans with just 2K away fans & to say they have been in bottom 3 all season their last 3 home gates have been over 28k twice & over 30k fans for a Sky Sports game against Leeds United not bad when been in bottom 3 all season they average over 26k fans in league one with most expensive ticket prices huge club Swfc are
Good history, well supported, no doubt. A fine club right up until they were run by Bert McGee/ Dave Williams late 80s/early 90s. Last 25 years they have been in League 1 thrice and could be on for a 4th term. Massive clubs drop to League One once maybe twice in 100 years. You might be beyond repair.
Put a glass eye to sleep- not heard that for a while 😂
Once upon a time there was a top flight club called sheffield wednesday
simon we been crying for some one like you to come and put
wawaw on the map :} x
please buy wednesday out i can,t bare to see them like this.
A great compliment off a man who speaks sense
Put the letters NON in front of sense and you’d be right
PLEASE BUY IT PLEASE
Yes Simon buy us asap 🙏🙏🙏
A wednesday fan living in hull here simon. Don't do it. You could get a good 8hr sleep just waiting at traffic lights in Hull. Worst traffic infrastructure in the UK. The local council hate car drivers.
Buy them simon
G'on Simon. You know you want to.
Try slowing your talking down and u would be really good
Do true Simon huge football club take the gamble you would love the ride it would be the best time of your life
Another 33,295k today at Hillsborough stadium for Swfc 3 WBA 0
They have been in bottom 3 almost all season with most expensive tickets with no PL in almost 24 years and look at their attendance
Massive sleeping Giants let’s hope Danny Rohl starts to wake them up
The Fanbase is Premier League for sure at SWFC 👍👊💙
Just realised it’s a quarter of a century since they were top flight 👴🏻
This Phone lo was definitely definitely set up
Sheffield Wednesday are lucky to have owner like Jordanite = Top Lads Proper Clobbers 💯 Facts
People once said that about mcfc they got bought out and everybody hates them
Sheffield Wednesday fans would love Mr Jordan to own the club.
Yes I wish he would buy us and get us out of chansiri’s hands
I would have him
Simon buy a club?.... He gets the bus to talksport... He's a dreamer....
You do know he owned Crystal Palace?
@@stevibray In 1924?
No, he wasn’t alive in 1924. About 10 years ago.
Please Simon do it
Are you mad🤮
Caller makes a great point about how much better football is without VAR. Show proceeds to talk nonsense about buying Sheffield Wednesday
greedy players and their agents are the problem in the modern game ,they lack any sort of loyalty or integrity for club or fans ,Wednesday is no different to far too many clubs all suffering the narcissistic parasites that suck the life out of a clubs finances ,punters are also to blame as the bull up talent less players and call them stars which the majority are not
Pray for Sheffield Wednesday 😅
Buy us please 🙏
Wednesday are a vital part of English football.
They won the League 1 play off final in 2005 and 2023.
Have legend football players such as Lee Briscoe and Lance Key.
They get over 10,000 in attendance and 2/10 games.
Rohl is one of the most decorated managers born in 1989.
Wednesday is better than Tuesday and Friday.
😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I saw what you did there
They're also Yorkshire's most successful team in terms of trophies and top flight seasons, although I appreciate these facts pale into insignificance against your thoughts.
BUT they’re STILL bigger than your tinpot club with a pub league fan base & that garden shed for a ground!!! 👍
Why doesn't Simon get Middle Eastern money and go and rebuy Crystal Palace?
come and rescue us pal wawaw
Just a point on city they are lucky they don't have to play Barcelona in their heyday cos they wouldn't have got anywhere near Barca.
Wouldn't have... 👍
Buy with what?
Most people use money
@@danielnorth3289 exactly, so how’s charlatan, failed businessman Simon going to buy Sheffield Wednesday?
If i was a Sheffield Wednesday fan , i wouldn't want Simon Jordans money ( if hes got any left ) he messed up at Palace .....
Get us bought Simon we need proper leadership and you talk a lot of sense. We are a sleeping giant , bring us back 👌🦉🫶🏻
Someone just buy us ffs anyone will do at this point 🥃
Wednesday is a proper club but Chelsea and City aren’t? Even though before their investments they had more domestic and European trophies than Wednesday? Simon is quite the comedian, or joke should I say.
Do it! Buy the owls
Buy them simon, and try and get Steve Bruce to lead the way
FFP was brought in for the sustainability of football clubs .. Jordan was a previous failed owner that before Palace was sold wasn’t paying its players .. If this guy satisfies the fit and proper process for football owners then the football league are corrupt .. FACT
FFP was brought in so other clubs besides Liverpool Utd Arsenal couldn’t compete, as their all finding out these new rules they were all bullied into agreeing are now coming back to punish the other clubs, furthermore why is the FA considering dropping points deduction for luxury tax? Because UTD and Arsenal are going to fall foul of the new rules and Utd especially won’t be able to spend.
If people can’t see this then football is lost, the yanks want to take over the premiership or is it a coincidence the clubs being punished have owners from the Middle East
Mahoooooosive club Wednesday
Please Simon
just cant do with football fans watching other teams and supporting them ffs
Who's bigger Wednesday or United
Probably Wednesday, United still a good sized club thi
Careful what you wish for wednesday fans after what he almost did to palace
buy it with what? his talkSport wages hahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂
And I’m going to buy Barcelona tomorrow🤣
They're massive👌
Big not massive. Massive are the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. Big are clubs like Wednesday, Leeds, Sunderland, Newcastle, Etc
Wawaw😎
Taking 7k to Blackburn. When bottom of league. On a Sunday morning. On Sky. I'd say that's pretty good
Why watch Arsenal rather than the 5,000 league match?
I’m sure Simon Jordan is the last person Sheffield Wednesday fans want in lol
I hope for their sakes he doesn’t he’s useless
Simon Jordan is nowhere near rich enough to own any club outside of possibly League 2. When he owned Palace he was a multi-millionaire is a multi-millionaire world. He's now a just-about millionaire in a billionaire's world. If Simon was that rich he wouldn't be getting up at 6am every morning , 5 days a week to co-host a radio show would he?
People would eat Simon for breakfast up there
He calls everyone big because he compares anything to palace. I rate palace btw
Sheffield Wednesday are big tbf. Sizeable fanbase. Rich history.
@@footballfanar9717 they are.
Shame our nutty owner overvalues us by about £100m
I’d love to see Wednesday get a good owner.
Wawaw
Simon buy us you know our potential with the right investment we can be a Man City in the future.
Nevermind THEM, Simon come buy CARDIFF CITY.
Somebody else who dosnt know what they're talking about, SWFC are not a good buy, up to their eyes in debt. Does he think he's funny?
Simon went bust at palace
Lost 75m
There’s more to it than that. The economy at the time etc
What is a “proper” club?
An imagination in football fans and pundits eyes.
He would bankrupt the club 100%
Wednesday are nothing now.
Shef Utd have comepletely overtaken them.
And it’s only Sheffield teams.
Sheffield United just had one of the worst seasons of any Premier League teams and got relegated. Sheffield Wednesday could avoid relegation. Next season maybe both clubs mid table in Championship.
🦉🦉
simon sure likes to destroy clubs so if you want your club to get skinned let him buy it
Wednesday is a club full of scrubbers. Deserve to be in national league
Older, bigger, better little piggy.🔵⚪️
lol like he still has that kind of bread haha joker
He hasn’t got Football Club money. Stop lying Simon.
3:19 shame those fans haven’t turned up this season 15,000 empty seats each week apart from the Leeds game
What are you on about? Bottom three all season, and averaging 25k paying highest ticket prices in the league.
@@videowatchfunny You just proved my point. holds 40.000 so you do the maths. So its ok not to go and support your club if you're in the bottom3? interesting mindset
Apart from the Leeds game? There were more Wednesday fans at the last two home games than there was at the Leeds game.
Hillsboroughs not held 40k for a few years ... Reduced capacity roughly 34k 28k there last night I'd say thars not bad for a bottom 3 side..
@@mikeoxlong8522 didn’t they paint the concrete blue in the corners? Haha
Luckily for us Jordan is a complete bullshitter so won't be buying Wednesday.
We're all Wednesday aren't we?
massive club, 30 years ago, league 1 club now..... deluded fanbase
😂 let me guess Rotherham fan ? Pig fan ? Dingle ? Or doncatraz fan ?
@@garysiddall6647or maybe they are a realist!
This is true. On course for a 4th spell in League One in 24 years. 'Massive' clubs might drop to League One once in a 100 years. Like a Ferrari left in a garage for 24 years. Potential for restoration maybe, but maybe beyond repair
They don’t have a plastic legacy like Manchester City do.
