Come on Martin your telling me you never saw Ray Parlour or Tony Adams and Paul Merson have a bet
Why would they tell him? Are you an idiot?
All it takes is 1-Drunk to spill their secret.
Your point is what? lol - in any event, are we suggesting that those old school Arsenal players bet on themselves? As I think thatâs a matter of distinction
@@frglrk I seriously would not be surprised if Ray or Paul did it.
But thatâs not relevant⊠if they did, then they should let off Paqueta?
Betting in those days was indeed viewed differently and that was before technology left a trail of breadcrumbs - merson etc may have done and not been caught - but does that mean do-away with rules which stop English football from becoming ridiculous?
Betting companies dont like losing money, someone probably made money off his yellow cards and they reported
Exactly now I have to reconsider placing a massive bet on Casemiro to get booked in the final because that could end his career getting a 12 month ban at his age
Agreed does smack of sour grapes on Betwayâs behalf, create a ludicrous platform take a fortune from the ludicrous platform. Then have to payout a small amount on their ludicrous platform and they cry foul and then look to have lives ruined because of it.Betting companies being whiter than white do me a favour
And football fans don't like to the see game they love tainted by players doing things to make money on football betting. It brings the game into disrepute & makes it a farce.
Obviously, how else do you think the authorities found out about it?
Not much gets past Jake.
no hypocrisy at all. players betting is very different from the FA or PL having gambling sponsors.

The betting companies made Paqueta cheat?
Betting companies dont tie people down and force them to place a bet. Their like any other good or service that individuals have a choice to use
Seriously what's wrong with these players, isn't the 100k+ a week enough?
@planetebeautecali4485
âWhatâs wrong with these playersâ? Aside from the fact that betting companies are literally plastered all over their jerseys, stadium adverts surrounding the pitch, and in commercials everywhere? What did you think was going to happen? Particularly in the smartphone era we now live in with extreme ease of access.
@@Photosoflife âitâs not my fault, I saw an advert for bet365 on my opponentâs shirt and couldnât help myselfâ

Forced to do it by gangsters? Does that go on do you think?
Itâs about reward not specifically the money (which they donât need)
Well said Mr Keown... I'd go further, alcohol advertising is banned. Gambling advertising also should banned. Gambling is an appalling waste of money, and, an act of self-sabotage.
I agree. But thereâs absolutely zero chance the tv and radio companies will stop gambling advertising because they earn a fortune from it. TalkSPORT in particular have a ridiculous amount of gambling adverts. So do Sky.
And ban all teams owned by immoral owners.. wait thats all the teams in premier league
im not even close to a legal expert, but if true, wouldn't this go far beyond being against the rules of the sport and be a criminal offense? shouldn't the police be investigating instead of the fa?

It does affect the game, he's on a yellow if he fucks up he's off, he has to play differently after the yellow. Unless he's been doing it really late on
This is impossible to prove? Alvarez is almost a guarantee to receive a card every other match? same for quite a few footballers so is the fa gonna investigate them? All this is about is because Paqueta and his team called out the fa demanding action or drop it? The fa got diddly squat.

What did he say
Having watched the four fouls which Paqueta made, and which he was booked for, itâs difficult to see how the FA have a case. Not particularly bad tackles, and probably down to poor refereeing more than looking for a booking.
Are they really saying it doesn't directly impact a game?
I better not place 10K on Casemiro to get booed this weekend vs City or they will give him a life time ban đ

So many players do very similar things.
I've got a mate that has very close friends with Gareth Barry . They won loads of money on bets that he gave them tips for. Transfers, cards , all sorts.

If tonali gets a year paqueta will be lucky to see light of day..
A couple of the tackles in question were naughty and could have also injured a player long term that another club would have been out for months at a cost
Sorry Martin, but Gamblers Anonymous had meetings at Highbury to save travelling time for attendees.
4 charges. accused of deliberately getting booked in four Premier League matches throughout 2022 and 2023. This differs from the cases of Toney and Tonali, who were caught placing bets on matches.
Similar to when Kieren Trippier 'manipulated the betting' markets, he only got a 10 week ban and a ÂŁ70k fine.
@@darreno2428 Trippier wasn't match fixing though, he told a relative that he was definitely going to Atletico Madrid before the bookies & media knew and they put a bet on it.
This is worse, compromising the integrity of a game is worse than betting on a match result that you aren't even involved with.

How is it not match fixing? Say Paqueta (allegedly) did this without meaning to actually hurt his teams chances in a game...him getting a yellow card means he cannot commit to tackling any further for fear of a red...which ultimately means he _chooses_ plays differently and compromises his teams defending (and hence chance to win the game)...
Career done and buried clearly got booked on purpose against Bournemouth for that handballđ least make it convincing

Michael Oliver should be number 1 followed by Anthony Taylor to be investigated, them and involvement with man city should be looked at, they give every big decision for years to them but we all know sport is CORRUPT

If it was new accounts being opened to place a bet there would had been a limit in the stakes probably 200-1000 hardly massive returns on a yellow card price .
It's interesting the description Jim White gives at the beginning sounds like a perfect description of what happens when players "down tools".
sounds like the bookmakers dont like paying out.
Sturridge's case was the worse. He told his cousin he might be going to Besiktas, I believe it was, his cousin put a wager on it. He didn't even move there. Are you not allowed to tell family members where you might be living

seems a bit weird for bets on yellow cards to come from the very island Lucas is from. Not once, but at least four times.

And your point is? two wrongs dont make a right
5:40 Martin desperately wants that cease and desist letter
a non league player did the same thing a few years back he got 12 years ban reduced to 10 years no difference if found guilty
The only way to deter such things is to offer a life time ban on the FIRST offense if you engage in any betting yourself or to the benefit of others.
it happens alot but only a few get caught
I am sorry if you get booked during the game it affects your ability to function for your team for the rest of the game because if you get another yellow you are off, so it can affect the outcome of a game.
true can end up in ban late in season to that you would not has get, can also risk ther some score from the free kick so realy show ther dont know football a all, scare Keow play but he sadly had alcohole problem, so he is escuse for not rember whos thing more.

As a west ham fan u can see there seems to be an attitude problem with him. Not really surprised now
Martin called it ash money, compared to what the are actually earning. I think he himself did not benefit from it-innocent. Others that knew him benefitted from this. Fans bet so companies make money, worse would be a ref, but how to prove it?
Martin writing his memoirs over there
More needs to be looked into referees odd decisions as Iâm sure theyâre not clean !!
This just proves that players get paid way too much money for what they do! And it gets to the point where they have so much money they donât know what to do with it
Lickle booking his says đ€Ł
Martin doing his shopping list for the way home.
Looks innocent to me, I hope they have undeniable proof of wrongdoing
Some of a number of those yellow cards were totally unnecessary and he was not getting anywhere near the ball, plus the fact bets were placed based on him getting yellows or for discipline back in Brazil , it's a bit dodgy
Heâs been doing this for a while and deserves his punishment. I remember when he just joined AC Milan that the kid looked really sharp and technical but was getting booked all the time for silly faults and I wonder if it had to do with his vice even back then⊠he will end up ruining his career for some extra money.. shows how intelligent he is and how smart are the ones close to himâŠ
Why FA don't focus on man city but theit are quick to take points from everton and ban players
How many managers tell players to get booked so they'll miss an unimportant match and be available for crucial game.
Allegedly Betway were the company who picked up on this which is ironic as they sponsor West Ham đ€
*Allegedly
How does a booking not change the game ? It means he can't put in another tackle an could cost his side the game because of it
surprised he is able to get that much money on getting booked for it to be worth his while
Didnt Matt Le Tissier admit to doing something similar? Kicking the ball out of play within a certain time.
No... That would be a serious offence. He may have done it to disrupt irregular betting patterns as some bloke at Everton did.
Since posting that comment I found video of Le Tissier admitting doing it.
How comes jordan didn't take this tone with toney?
Because he's a stinking hypocrite. Nothing new there. Same as if a club owner he doesn't like does something wrong, such as Moshiri or Sullivan, etc, he'll crucify them relentlessly. However, if one of his mates does the same thing, Levy or Boehly, etc, he'll defend them until he's red in the face. I can't stand the tosser. Not even sure why I still listen really, he just winds me up.
Unless they have text messages between the people betting and Paqueta or phone recordings of their conversations its very difficult to prove these allegations.
Yes - the FA need that solid evidence now before he was charged. They should be ready to put him in front of a tribunal immediately having presented him with the evidence against him so that his representation can assess that evidence and compile a defence (if he indeed has one). Simon is right, keep perspective here.
The yellow cards in question as evidence don't paint a good picture for paqueta.. đź I'm a toon fan personally.. what's happening with gambling addiction these days
Silly boys especially in cases like this because they don't actually profit from it, it's 'manipulating the betting markets' which is exactly what kieren Trippier was found guilty of with 100% undeniable evidence, he got a 10 week ban and a ÂŁ70k fine.
Martin put that pen behind those f ing ears, , he has enough room for 50 bic pens to tuck away behind those flappers đđđ
Every and any action changes the course of the game
If I have understood well, Paqeta did not bet, and FA has no evidence that he has any contact with the third person who bets, FA has no evidence that he has a share in the third person's profit.
This FA lawsuit is in the metapfysical realm.
"The FA are concerned that the spectators must be confident that what they're watchin is real and not faked"
Ha ! How about applying that to their own bias towards the top 6 and their obvious instructions to the refs and var officials to that outcome.
More and more gambling breaches. Fines unless extortionate (proportional to what wages these players are on) wonât achieve anything, and a ban of however long doesnât really deal with the root cause, which is addiction. Instead there should be help provided to stop the gambling in the first place, and use all these examples as educational examples for the younger generation coming up as well as current players. If mainstream players that have been found out like tonali, toney, and paqueta have been caught, imagine how many players in the lower leagues all the way down to grass roots have the same issue but havenât been found out or isnât worth being publicised. Start helping these lads and move forward progressively, rather than papering over the cracks.

In the meantimes, VAR have no controversial moment affecting the game.
Give them help, not punishment.
Punishment won't solve their gambling issues. It's s just sad.
I suffered from alcoholism for a long time (I'm 31 yrs of age). And it started to effect my job.
My wonderful boss, instead of fiering me, got me into a program with a therapist, and it turned my life around.
Give them a chance to make it right.
Tonali got 10 months for betting on himself to win⊠if Paqueta is guilty he HAS to get a bigger ban if not its so unfair.
How do you prove someone is getting on purpose the South American players always get yellow cards because they are aggressive and complain a lot. Furthermore what does a yellow card have to do with the outcome of a game ?
There is one thing you should never do as a player and it is betting, and also advise your family members to bet on anyone but you or any team but your team. If you lose they wonât come after you, but the moment you start winning or your friends and family start winning, which is the essence of betting so that you can win, the betting companies will come after you.
Why a bigger ban? Should be the same no? Or does tonali get away with ten months then a suspended because his a Newcastle player?
@@marcus8030 if he bets on himself to get a yellow and he gets a yellow he should be band simple as, weather it effects the score or not. When he signed his contract for hundreds of thousands a week Iâm sure he knew he wernt allowed to bet.
