    Thanks for the video. I was a Vera user for 9 years. After my 3rd bridge quit working I threw it across the room and it exploded.
    So I ordered the Aeotec Smart Home Hub.
    After 3 hours I was ready to send it back to Amazon. What got me was the reps on the Samsung forums claimed that once a device was locked to another hub the only way to unlock it was to use the hub that set it up.
    Then I found your video. It took a bit but I figured it out. I have almost everything swapped over except for ironically one Aeotec device controlling a light in the ceiling. I have to pull the can down to reset the device, which isn't fun at all.
    Thanks again for the tips you saved me from a very angry afternoon

    So after 2 days of the frustration in trying to get my GE ZWave Plus switches and outlets synched with my new ST Hub, I come across this video in the desperation of finding guidance. I watched this video and then went to give this a try. I was ABLE to Exclude 18 switches and 6 outlets and then repair them with my new Smartthings Hub in less than 45 minutes. This was such a TIME-SAVER and Spot on the only instruction anyone needs to avoid the frustrations of changing hubs and re-pairing their smart switches/outlets. Well Done. Thank you for the incredible guidance.

    Thank you! After months of searching for a solution, yours was the only one that made it simple and finally worked. Why can't GE make a simple instructions like yours. Thank you again.

    Thanks for demonstrating the exclusion! It's what I needed to get my devices to re-register.

    Thank you very much. This was very helpful and worked as expected.
    If you're having challenges detecting the device, try moving the hub as close to the switch as you possibly can.

    Thanks for the very helpful video. Just a small caveat: My version of the SmartThings app on Android does not seem to have the Z-wave exclusion mode. However I was still able to add the switches normally once I had deleted them from my Wink Hub 2.

    This still works with the updated SmartThings app. The Z-wave exclusion has to be accessed through the hub icon though.

    It helped me reset a new GE dimmer switch that didn't get setup as a dimmer in the ST app after initial install.

    I have tried this at least 20 times and done all the trouble shooting. It gets to 80% and stops every time. I have never been able to add this device so it looks like it’s in the exclusion mode but not sure since it never stops searching... (my toggle does not have a button as some of the pictures show.).

    Worked for 5 out of my 7 switches. 2 are being stubborn. All are basically the same switch. They just won't exclude. I even moved the hub to within 10 feet. Any ideas?

    Hi, is a hub necessary in order to make the smart switch working?

      If the switch is Zwave or Zigbee then Yes. If the switch is WiFi then no. The switch in this video is Zwave

    What if your original hub got destroyed and is no longer able to unpair the switch? Can the switch be factory reset and unpair from original hub?

    • @Allabouthomeelectronics
      @Allabouthomeelectronics  Před 2 lety

      The switch in the video was originally paired with a different branded hub than the hub we paired with in the video. The process can prove to be frustrating which is why we made this video to demonstrate the steps we took to pair the switch with the replacement, different branded hub

    My switches won’t move over to SmartThings. Was on wink.

    • @johnsaxontube
      @johnsaxontube Před 4 lety

      The trick is to first remove the switch from Wink. Go into your Wink app, edit the switch, hit Remove, then you have to figure out the secret method of clicking the switch to get it into pairing mode so that Wink can remove it. With these GE switches, as this fellow says, click up 3 times and down 3 times. If you do it right the Wink App will show a checkmark and say that the switch has been removed. Then you can pair the switch with SmartThings. I am also changing from Wink to SmartThings and I have many different types of switches and dimmers. So far I have been able to successfully change over my Sengled Bulbs, NuTone dimmer switches, and GE dimmer switches. With the NuTone dimmers I tried several different combinations of clicking the switch. I think it was up 5 times that worked.
