  • VIVINT actually told me the truth about how they are paid, what they charge and did not seem to care one bit. I mean, I agree with companies making a profit. I do not care nearly as much about profit as I do sleeping at night.

I used to sell vivant as a diretv installer. I had vivant in my home after I left directv and withen 3 months they charged me 3 grand out of the blue for the free install and cost of the equipment and then tried charging me 999.00 each month for the equipment. I instantly shut the service down and had a lawyer contact them as when I canceled they charged me another 3400.00 charge. Once they learned we were taking them to court for close to 9 grand in charges they withdrew from my bank with zero approval for the large charges and nothing in tbe contract stated those charges. They decided to reverse all of the charges and stopped the early cancelation charge. We requested a return shipping label from them so we could return all of the equipment and they said to keep it. We made them put it in writing that we didn't need to return the equipment and there would be zero charge for them not wanting the equipment returned.
This happened years ago and I hadn't replaced the system with anything until today I ordered the xfinity equipment. Doorbell camera ,kwikset deadbolt, 4 cameras. I'll install all of it this week afterwork on the days my son doesn't have baseball practice or a game..which will leave me maybe 1 evening until next sunday.

I know nothing about security cameras. I was thinking about getting me a couple so I was watching CZcams. I saw a comment to look at vivint products, which I did. When I clicked on their website, I knew immediately that it was a "sales/marketing" company. They just want you to "call them" to find out more in order to put high pressure sales tactics to use while you are on the phone.
Again, I have no clue about security cameras, but I do know about business marketing and their website reeks of "car salesman". Up sale is their game plan!

My father was a Salesman back in the '50s and 60s. He made quite a bit of money, 30 to almost $50,000 a year which in those days was pretty big money. And I can remember him talking about some of his competitors Representatives. Since he was the top salesman with the top product in a two-state Midwest area, he received a lot of feedback from dealers who would tell him how horrible the ABC salesman said he and his product were. He always spoke about his product and why it was a great product, in those days RCA was the best. He did not need to badmouth the competition. Now, if you are one of those mindless morons who thinks that capitalism is not in business for a profit then you can't be helped, however; look at the lawsuits, BBB filings and complaints against Vivint and Brinks and others and our argument is made for us. I was a technician for Vivint for about 5 years. You’re right, it’s actually ridiculous how much they pay their sales teams. The sales manager from our office probably made around $500,000 a year. That comes from his sales, his teams sales, upgrades on equipment, and so on. Yeah he’s a great salesman, but I was assigned to most of his sales because he liked me I did good work, but only make around 40k. I was also paid by commission oncall day and nights. We’d be in houses finishing installs sometimes past 12 am because they sold the job at 8:30 pm. They get pay raises each year, while we get pay cuts and more responsibility. I’m glad I left and am moving on to something better.

    • @TaraSmallss
      @TaraSmallss Před rokem

The contract thing is an indeustry norm. Complaints came from shady sales practices that are in no way exclusive to vivint door to door on general produces that outcome. Your not required to get a contract when a company agrees to let you pay for a product through a lender the lender wants a guarantee they get there money. When a company creates 100k new accounts a year not everything is always going to go perfectly I agree with the fact there should be more oversight in regards to sales practices but again if I can work 1099 and pay 10% in taxes versus going w4 as a commissioned employee I’m going to go with the former. You can read the reports about vivint aggressive move changes on the sales side. they fired a quarter of the door to door sales people for the sole purpose of addressing customer issues. As a journeyman electrician with low voltage specialty I am just as critical of the sales teams. Taking anecdotal evidence from a sales rep is flawed 90% of sales reps within the company make less then 30k a year. I can also promise you techs absolutely encourage firearms ownership as I tell people it lets the customer know where to point the gun. You can copy and paste the exact same complaints on a video about ADT and especially brinks their customers are sometimes waiting 3 month to and 10 missed appointments to get help. I understand where you are coming from but as you have already said your in a different form of security having been in the industry myself for 14 years I’ve seen the ins and out of most of these companies. One more thing accountability is important and if I can make 100k installing cameras for this company I very much want them to take criticism and grow as a company

@@TaraSmallss I do appreciate a logical answer. I've had to "ban" many commenters on this thread because so many Vivint people have called names, been rude and can only throw insults. Soooo, I would refute that it is an industry standard to have a term contract. It is needless. If the service, installation and follow up are above average people don't leave. The only people we have lost over the last 20 years are those who moved, died or had extreme financial difficulty. WE HAVE NOT HAD A TERM CONTRACT IN 20 YEARS. Please understand that a company theology, practices and ongoing commitment come from the top. We have probably had 100 engagements in our company offices for those from VIVINT coming in to be able to sell systems in one of our states. To date, not a single engagement has been about the customer but about the money. I'd say you are an exception to the rule. If you have that type of experience, why are you not working for yourself by this point. We can put you into business making the same money and having the opportunity to actually care about the customer and their needs and offering a full suite of services that actually make them secure, not just giving them a sense of security.

They add door locks, and garage openers through our app. In case if you ever forget to close the doors or garage you don’t have to make a u-turn just go on the app and make sure it’s closed. You can set schedules for the system to make sure that your doors are always locked at certain times. Same with garage. They have smart thermostats that save energy, and can adjust from your phone. As well as a few other features like the ability to control your lights or electronics all through one simple app instead of multiple. You pay for convenience every time you go to the store, gas station, etc. Security is an added bonus, especially when your not home or if your wife and kids are home by themselves. I tried ADT before and they were super expensive and I felt pushed to get their equipment.. very unprofessional.

Get your facts straight and educate yourself, there is so much that you are leaving out of this. As well as exaggerating the numbers to which vivint reps make, I don’t see you busting your butt and walking around to service areas with a great reliable system. Instead of making a hate video that has false information maybe you should sit down with Todd Pedersen the founder of Vivint. Also maybe learn how to pronounce Vivint correctly.

    • @SecurityAllStar

That would be because the Vivint sales reps were bragging. If there is anything misconstrued the finger needs to be point back at Vivint for a lack of veracity. You seem articulate enough to tell the difference between "hate" speech and loving Americans enough to keep them from spending 3 times what they need to on equipment. Sooooooo, tell us about the owner's net worth? Like 2 billion? Yes, I'd like to ask how he feels about making 2 billion by charging 3X what the equipment is worth. What you don’t want everyone to see. The fact that we’ve won awards from Forbes, Buisness Intelligence Group, and US news for excellence in customer service, Innovation, and the best overall security system. The fact that vivints summer sales reps collectively raised 1.2 million dollars for those without homes and schools in costa rica. Vivint gives back supporting autism awareness. First of all. If you're going to review a company learn to pronounce the company name correctly. You would want that for your company. I have a Vivint system that I'm happy with. I paid a fair price for it. The installer was phenomenal. I would highly recommend them.
If you're going to bash another company to try to promote yours, you might at minimum get your facts straight. You do not have to sign any contracts whatsoever with Vivint. You can buy your equipment outright. You don't have to sign a contract for monitoring. Yes, they do promote financing their system and yes you will pay a lot of additional money. But that's not required.
You spent about 7 minutes of an 8 minute video babbling.
And good for Vivint if they have a plan in place where they can make good money and their executives and reps can make good money. Good for them.
You simply came across as another security company who is just jealous of their competitors success. Sir, you pretty much embarrassed yourself on this video.

Imagine if you can’t pronounce Glock and you try to review their gun. You loose all credibility.
I own more guns than most gun store owners. Still think professionally monitored home security is the best way to go.
Years ago, you didn’t sell smart home, security, Solar and surveillance. You’re also not factoring in years and years of monitoring. You have no idea what the average contract value is to Vivint.
