  • Zwave network is quite difficult to work with. Combined with different manufacturers method of invoking inclusion / exclusion modes, makes zwave inclusion / exclusion a nightmare. I have some tips that will help you do inclusion and exclusion easier and with less frustration.

    This was such a huge help in switching hubs when my old one went completely down. Thanks for posting this!

    Okay! This is genuinely helpful. I think I like ZWave, but switching hubs is definitely not fun. This is the first thing I have found that helps with this very important bit of knowledge.

    You just saved my sanity - thank you! My old Smarthings hub just died and trying to re-do/re-add all the devices was a nightmare since I have several different makes and models of devices. This info about excluding with the new hub just saved me from ripping everything out. It's a shame most manufacturer's user guides and support pages are written by idiots and do not provide good info. Thanks again.

    That explained a lot. I’ve been wondering why I can use a different controller to exclude. You explained it all! Thx.

    What is the difference between delete and exclude?

    • @DIYGEEKTEXAS
      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  Před 3 lety +2

      Great question. Remove only removes the device from the zwave hub. But the device still thinks it belongs to a zwave network. Excluding the device will do both remove from hub and it will dis-associate itself for any network and get it ready to be connected to a new zwave network.

    Am unable to find Zwave utilities on Smartthing App

      @DIYGEEKTEXAS  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Tim, there are 2 smarthings apps at the app store, please make sure to check both of them.

      DIY GEEK I have both and tried both. I have a few devices linked to the Wink hub that I want to move to the SmartThings hub, so I’m trying to do the exclusion / inclusion thing but the Z wave utility is not showing on either of the smart thing app

      Home assistant will work as long as it has the zwave support

    RTFM ;) 99% of Z-Wave devices need a tripple click for include/exclude.

      You are right the bad part of zwave is the inclusion and exclusion uncertainty
