On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Little more "Bandit Unknown" Action for you guys since many of you have voiced that you enjoyed the series, Big thank you to Shark for flying as our bandit today and thank you all for watching, much love.
F22 vs j20 BVR
*Bogey
Bandit unknown series is awesome. I love how its still an "staged fight" (guns only), but with the added challenge of ID'ing the plane and adapting to its capabilities. It shows off your skill AND knowledge and that makes it incredibly enjoyable. Thank you.
@growling sidewinder....can you do an episode describing the different gun sites on your most used jets and how they work?
Please make a bandit unknown episode with jf17 block 3
“He looks like he’s rating with you. It’s an illusion.” A mirage, you could say
damn it hahaha
LMAOO BOOOOOOOOOOOO
That was perfect ...lol
nice
are you a shakespear of the skies?
I want to see the other aircraft be a Sopwith Camel just once. The lol's would be epic.
10 minutes in: Where the f is he??
"He's turning inside my circle"
A wood-and-fabric kite, with very little rear-aspect heat signature. Swap out the guns for a countermeasures dispenser, and hang a couple Stingers on the wing struts, and you might have a pretty slippery opponent.
Numbers could make it a problem too, if the processor can keep up. "Alone and Unafraid: 80 million dollar jet fighter VS. 80 million dollars worth of Camels; Can you smoke the whole pack?";-D
@@bengerendash he was indeed turning in his circle
I fly for an airline and I have to say that your channel is my go to on my overnights. Keep ‘em coming!
means a lot to me to hear that man thank you
Haha same here. Or while sitting some airport appreciation.
Do u have any tips I’m going for airline too
im now imaginine an airliner boeing 737 in a rate fight with an airbus a320 🤣
@@fruitygranulizer540 He is falling around that circle, so I am going vertical. Differential thrust. And.... Fox 2. Splash.
Its quite remarkable how good the F-14 is, being how old the design is. They just made it that good.
Aerodynamics are aerodynamics, We still knew a damn lot about how to make a good airframe back then.
a reminder that at the time F-15 was being introduced, with all of its much newer cutting edge electronics and newer engines, the F-14 was still considerably more expensive...
@@AKAtheA the variable sweeping mechanism must be pretty expensive.
Tom Cruise sitting there.
Heat Blur made it that good in DCS. I'd argue that the DCS F-14 flight model is still over performing big time
I love the paint scheme on the CF-188. It's called Poor AF. We show up to a fight looking all homeless and rusty, then blow the enemy out of the sky.
I downloaded heavily weathered RCAF skins for the Eagle and Mirage too. They look so rough and gnarly, lol
It is all that Canadian road salt...
YAY. More of the Bandit unknown stuff!!! Don’t stop! Maybe try to do some Bandit unknown video in a Flanker?
Na an f22 would be better
@@crosshairs19 hes too good with it
"So uh today I'm in a hornet. Definitely gonna be fighting in the one circle. For sure. No doubt about it. There's nothing I wouldn't want to fight one circle...Oh look it's a mirage. Two circle it is." Lmao
I remember seeing the Blue Angels perform during Seafair as a kid. They were amazing to watch. They show what a F-18 can do when controlled by a highly trained pilot. My favorite fighter is still the F-14 though. Always had great respect for Navy pilots. Taking off or Landing on a airstrip is one thing but doing that on a carrier with all the possible hazards they face is on another level.
Ive watched an F22 hover and then turn its nose to the target like it parked itself in the airspace. I was training with the national guard and doing our gunnery.
When I was in the Navy years ago when the Hornet was new, I was chatting with an aviator about flying it, The thing I remember the most was when he said " When you fire a long burst with the gun, it looks like a grey bar in front of the aircraft" Due to pilot seating and gun position I think.
The Tomcat fight was awesome, but that move on the flanker was fucking gorgeous!! Wish I could have seen the tacview on that puppy!!
LOVE that you take Canadian Liveries out. Not many DCS channels do so thank you for doing that. One of the many reasons I love your channel!
I love me a good old cf-18 brother
Yes! CF- 18 rocks 💪
You must respect the Hornet's low speed nose authoritah!
-Eric Cartman
Would you be able to post a dogfight like this with your inputs overlaid on screen? Particularly throttle inputs. Personally as a beginner, the throttle is the control that I have least of a clue of how to use during a dogfight. I can sense more or less how much stick input is right in certain situations but I have a hard time knowing when to use full burner, mil power, complete idle or anywhere in between, during a dogfight. I haven't really found any resources that explain throttle management in engagements.
It’s kinda scary how good the f-14 is in the rate right, you don’t notice it as much when you’re in the f-14 but when fighting it it’s like one second you’re on his six and the next second he’s pulling lead
"Very few things that make me want to go two circle.... and there's a mirage" I could hear the resignation in your tone as you were now forced to two circle exactly the opposite of what you intended. lol
@ 7:55
Those are the moments when you have to just "DO SOME OF THAT PILOT SHIT."
- GOOSE
DCS made me a Hornet guy. I never thought much of the plane, others took the poster spaces on the wall etc. I admit that i was a bit ignorant towards it, no doubt. But DCS brought me around. What an incredible, versatile and dangerous multitool this airplane is. I admire everyone who got to experience it in real life and I tremendously enjoy being able to fly it in DCS.
Love the livery on the F-18 or I guess CF-18 in this case. Keep up the great videos, greetings from Canada!!
The Tomcat was extremely lucky to have survived those gun shots multiple times.
Even though WT and DCS don't exactly translate, your videos have helped me tremendously in my late war prop/jet combat lately! Thanks!
It’s pretty cool that when you’re talking during all of these videos you make every plane sound like a threat and every plane sound like it’s something to be feared.
1:41
I guess you could say it's a "Mirage"
Bandit unknown sounds like a Tom Clancy novel it fits so well I love it
GS, another fantastic video! Just absolutely love your slow-mo HUD close-up shots!
Friend or foe, I am always happy to see an F-14!
I'd love to see some Bandit unknown/bogey BVR content some time! Especially in the 14.
Loving the false cockpit on the under belly of the hornet
Great fights yo! Gotta say I am loving this Bandit Unknown stuff. Great for the excitement factor, also great for tactical analysis & learning how you have to use different energy management strategies with each new bandit that appears. This kind of fight teaches improvisational skills in a major way. Keep em coming, GS. 🤟💥
💯/💯
You were getting your "Buzz" Beurling guns back by the end of these matches.
Dude! I love "bandit unknown!" Do you think think you could do something like a gun-game where both you and the bandit start with the same plane? A kill gives a better plane. Obviously, you'll hash out the progression and details with the person you fly against. But I think it would be cool content.
Love these bandit unknown videos! Great deal of variation and education. Nice work! 👍
Loving the "Bandit Unknown" format!
Seems the oppo had a nasty habit of reversing in front of you and didn't take into account the Plastic Bug's Low speed/High AoA capabilities... Great video as always!
Will someone please tag the military? I want to see how well Sidewinder does in an official simulator. We are seeing some serious skills here.
Again you prove Col John Boyd's statement, people make the difference. Excellent flying. I am very much in the boom and zoom, extending out and keeping the energy.
The Canadian CF-18 Hornet is still only an upgraded F-18A. It's not the Boeing F-18E/F Hornet. Good job with that airplane.
GS, this is an awesome series! Something else you might consider trying is getting with LongShot for a 2-v-Unknown fight. You each in the same aircraft type, facing an unknown number of random bandit aircraft.
You really upped the game this time on explaining why and what as you go. It's really helpful.
I don't very much about fighter jets, but your dogfights are awesome. Please keep us entertaining, I will definitely subscribe your channel
Loving this series so far! Would love to see some of these Bandit Unknown fights with missiles allowed after the merge, feel like maybe that could add some interesting complexity?
excellent idea! love to see the hornet's versatility
Lovely fights! Well done! Goddamn, that's a lot of rounds on target in that last round... !
If a giant space ship showed up in earth's atmosphere and began to disperses fighters; GS would:
One circle or
Two circle
But best believe he would rate fight the "bleep" out of them and game over Thanos!
Man I love that you used the CF-18 Hornet livery
Perfect video: Hornet and Bandit unknown. NICE! 👍
Really like these Bandit unknown fights... makes it interesting on how you are going to work the bandit...
Hey man! I picked up two of the “I’m a cat person” hoodies for me and my dad. I’ve tried mine on and that is some of the best merchandise I’ve ever bought! Great Christmas present for sure
I love these videos, keep up the great work sidewinder!
My favorite intro. What's up my dudes. Haha. Keep up the good work man.
Love it when the tomcat took you down.
Bandit Unknown has a lovely ring to it.. also, these fights are insane Growly! 🤙🤙
Wow! I love your dogfights they are entertaining but also you can learn a lot from them. For me you are the best dcs pilot, keep up with bandit unknown, they are great and I'd love to see one when you're flying f-16 O7
Digging the vs. unknown series. Keep it rolling.
1:40 the meaning of mirage: an optical illusion caused by atmospheric conditions, especially the appearance of a sheet of water in a desert or on a hot road caused by the refraction of light from the sky by heated air. so the mirage is already an illusion
You cannot eject like that
Damn the dude got sadist there for a second
Been watching this channel far too much, as soon as it flew past I screamed, 'mirage!' couple of months ago I'd have been, 'Dorito Plane!'
Really loving the bandit unknown series!
It was so nice to watch the tomcat from the losing side in a very well played dogfight.
How about a Bandit Unknown in an F22 vs. a trio of unknowns. Or something to that effect...
That thing you did against the flanker. I have no idea what it's called and i am a very novice dogfighter but I love doing that in my hornet. So many people just drag themselves into it and so long as i have sufficient altitude you win that fight. In my first ever knife fight with a real person it was against a -16 who has thousands of hours in the -16's cockpit. yet i still damn near won, had them shitting themself in the discord call lol
9:45 that was incredible
Lmao a perfect 409 jet, grease streaks everywhere 🤣
Dude, you are so good at this game. You're my favorite channel to kill time with. I hope to be at least Simi competent in DCS, with limited time I love trying to use your pointers.
Bandit unknown is good stuff. The only preparation for the dogfight is from how well you know the enemy aircraft.
Great plane choices on the OpFor.
It amaze me how calm you narrate the fight as you are in the heat of the moment...how clearly you annalise the situation and take decitions. You could really do for a real pilot...if it were not for those annoying g's I suppose...
Greetings from Spain!!
Would love to see some BVRs with these Bandit Unknowns or a knife fight with missles. Maybe see the F16 next? Love the vids GS keep up the good work.
the fight with the f-14 was incredible to watch. like something srtaight out of a movie.
Bandit unknown bvr. Limited medium range missles. Those fights that make it to a merge or 9x fight would be awesome. Good vid
GOD, I love your calculated engagements in DCS. Now at War Thunder even in simulation, I have six other aircraft flying up my ass.
There is a reason I call the Hornet "the Easy Button"
I want to see you struggle in the F-16, that thing is probably the most difficult modern jet to dogfight in (at least in DCS)
I appreciate how you explain different terms you use during the fights (albeit I don’t understand how anyone thought you were calling a rate fight a rape fight). I’m curious how the nose to tail became known as two circle since it seems like that would be more accurate to call a one circle since you are both moving in the same circle same direction. This isn’t me doubting your use, I’m just curious what the origins of these designations are.
Awesome to see you fighting in a CF-18🇨🇦👍🏻
The Tomcat must be the sexiest aircraft ever designed
Flying the Canadian CF-18, you forgot to say, "Sorry, man; you're dead."
These are awesome! Keep them coming!
As I’ve said in the past the Bob Ross of flight simulators
Another great video GS! I love these sets. Have you tried a 2 vs 1 where you are against 2 unknown human bandits?
Liking the mixing and not knowjng what ia.coming :) Got to be a challenge getting new ideas for your videos. ;)
My dudes? There's dudettes on your channel too 😊
Bandit unknown...and next minute you see this massive triangle out in front and realise it's the Executor and Darth Vader is onboard to take care of you, personally :P
Love the love for the Canadian Hornet.
You missed showing your ejection... straight into the water!
Great to see the Bug get some love 😁👍
Great Vid! Do you mind doing an F-15C vs F/A-18C fight?
That Fulcrum kill was high art! I expected more of a fight from the Mig.
Well the Pilot decides the fight, not the jet ;)
great video. Kudos to Sharko
Not gonna go 2 circle
Sees mirage
Okay I’m gonna 2 circle
I think GS titles should be "in this episode GS kills...."
Fantastic fight! Could you consider doing a guide/video on how to force a 1-circle fight against a rate fighter?
A lot of the time, it seems to me like if the radius fighter doesn't get a kill in the first 30 seconds, they end up low, slowx and out of options. How do you keep that from happening?
Once you are low and slow, options are limited. My go to is losing the rate fight, tightening down the circle and neutralising into a one circle, basically what GS did against the Tomcat.
I really like the bandit unknown vids.
Love the Unknown Bandit
Round 3 kill was beautiful, textbook
I love your content man! I love just how open minded you are, to all aircraft I am a big fan of US Russian Chinese and Japanese aircraft. You don't "One side" a countries aircrafts or "US planes or nothing." BS and I love it! In a lot of you're videos, you've proven that its "not always the aircraft" But the pilots skill.
7:56 tHe f-14 cAn'T tUrN
This series is 🔥
enjoyed it very much
That is a good mirage pilot!
Love the Canadian Hornet livery ;-)
