On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Hey man, I was just wondering if you could do a video with a side by side comparison of the standard F-4 detail to the Heatblur. The air intakes look amazing, so I'm just curious as to how much more detail they put into this thing. I mean I know they smashed it, but it would be great to see it in different angles. @@istvanbarta The F-4E does have a gun, you might be thinking of the Naval variants or the other earlier Air force variants the F-4C or the F-4D
@@istvanbarta...yes it does. The E variant depicted has an underslung M61 Vulcan cannon below the nose. It's the whole reason the radar is essentially a downgrade from earlier F-4 variants like the J, because the nose had to be shrunk to accommodate the gun.

Not sure who to thank more, McDonnell Douglas or Heat Blur, but the F-4 might be the best looking wartime aircraft ever made. Beautiful and badass.
McDonnell-Douglas was on a roll in the 60s-80s. Phantom, Eagle, Hornet.
I love the minor attention to detail of the three undercarriage suspensions travelling different amounts on take off.

Again, at the end I totally expected the simulated pilots to take off their gear and descend from the aircraft. And walk back to the mess and get some coffee. The quality of simulations these days is *crazy*
but where's that famous F-4 exhaust smoke?
There's just something about that F-4 that feels like it's between the US Army Air Force and the new US Air Force. Such a cool jet for that time period.

My first duty station was Aviano AB with the 40th SPF 82-84 and we had 1 F-4 uploaded with a nuke, that's quite a sight for an Airman to see at their first base, not many will ever see something like that. Loved that base.
@@JoeSmith-nu8oo I was with the 40th in Aviano too..91 to 93 after they lost the F-4's and while I was they got the F-16s and became the 401.
@@tkelley004 Yeah F-16's came in 83 while I was there. Started out with one and then a second one came in just before I left.Then sometime later it became a full F-16 base.I stayed in those old barracks when I first got there and then moved over to the newer dorms where the BX and all the other good stuff was. I wish I could have stayed there forever because my next base was garbage and it wasn't because it was a SAC base either! Aviano was perfect for me!
The F-4 was the first model I ever built when I was a kid. I love this jet. Whoever made this model did so with amazing love and care.
That's funny, it was mine too, in 1/32 scale.
I'm having flashbacks of my time as a crew chief on F-4E/G's. Knowing that I have a ton of maintenance before the next flight.
I think this is the first time I've actually seen Fox 1 on this channel. F-4 is such a blast from the past. One of my favorites as a kid and I kinda forgot about it for awhile, so it's good to see this entry into DCS is so masterfully done.

F-105 is the reason Phantom exists. Not a good plane. The worst operational history in American aviation of all time.

66 years ago, the F4D first flight on May 1958. It's fitting that HeatBlur has dropped it now. Design start, I haven't found yet. She's 38' x 58' BigBird. As a kid, this must have been what I heard breaking the sound barrier from Wurtsmith AFB in the 60's from Saginaw, Michigan.
B52's were stationed there and we drove up one Sunday afternoon to see some of what was going on. I don't remember much of what I saw. It was a long ride and my fascination for planes started here. My neighbor built high detailed model replicas that were weathered and worn and he built me a Hawker Hurricane to play with. Still my favorite prop plane.
The distinct raised wing tips and dropped tail elevators made this jet readily recognizable from any angle.
We are blessed to have GS giving us the "what for" in DCS. Thank you, Sir

Good old mid range missiles that you have to keep your radar pointed at the target to hit and IR missiles that are only good from the rear.

I have to say, after going from the newer platforms like the 18 and 16, one never really understands how useful and amazing having a HUD in modern aircraft really is. During my first time playing this, I spent more time getting use to the instrument panels and where to look to get the information I needed rather than glancing at a HUD. Takes a good bit more situational awareness to fight one of these older fighters than the new.
Heatblur F-4 sounds like a triumph of DCS goodness.

The CW switch should be set to OFF unless you're planning to use AIM-7s. Put CW to STBY for the missiles to tune to the radar, then to ON when ready to fire after lock on
