    On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
    If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
    If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

    That's a Su-30 variant, J-16 doesn't have canards or thrust vectoring. Does have better missiles/radar though and some weight reduction compared to a Su-30.

  • @Ganiscol
    @Ganiscol Před 2 lety +63

    The Swiss Air Force air show squadron with their vintage F/A-18 (with avionics mods) show how good the platform is at very low speed with maneuvers that make you think the plane has thrust vectoring - its stunning to watch.
    Of course these maneuvers arent necessarily useful in a dogfight, but it still underscores the capability of the plane.
    There are plenty of videos of the Patrouille Suisse here on youtube if you like the plane and mad flying skills making it shine.

      I've seen the RAAF Hornet do the same moves IRL at the Australian international airshow. Unfortunately won't be seeing them again because of the replacement by F35s who also so impressive moves as well. My favourite move was the low speed high alfa, it was barely moving forward at stall and could hold it without dropping into the ground.

      F-35A Block 3i is said to be "Hornet with a turbo". Better with F-35A Block 3F (9G).
      From Norwegian pilot in late 2015 (to counter David Axe's F-35A AF-02 unit vs F-16D in Jan 2015)
      I quote
      _Overall, flying the F-35 reminds me a bit of flying the F/A-18 Hornet, but with an important difference: It has been fitted with a turbo_

      Both Fins and Swiss are buying F-35A Block 4 since it's direct improvements over F/A-18C. Terms of dogfight doctrine, F-35A Block 3F fights like 9G Hornet with F-16's acceleration and roll rates.

    My first full fidelity was the A-10C, 2nd was the F/A-18C hornet. Honestly, love them both and they're very fun to fly. A-10C is a bit harder to fly and use but worth it as it gives you a ton to learn and do. Though, I never understood why people said the A-10C was "hard" as I found it decently easy to learn... then again I was passionate about it and love the A-10 in general, and dogfighting/a2a isn't really my thing, rather be using my Mavericks or rockets/the 30mm cannon (:

  • @slowlylosingmysanity9726

    at first i only watched you for the f22 dogfights but now after seeing this battle i think these dogfights are alot more thrilling, more action and stuff i think its because the f22 just got so overpowered every battle is won with ease, its become so good that in just one circle the enemy is dead which completely takes off the thrill and fun in it. this has encouraged me to try new things and watch more videos of yours other than the f22 dogfights

    You know, I don't think I've ever seen any of the indigenous Chinese Flanker variants (J-11B, J-15, J-16) carrying Russian missiles like the Archer. They're always carrying the PL-8 (Python 3). The inverse is also true. I don't think I've seen the J-11A/Su-27, Su-30MKK, or Su-35s carrying any Chinese munitions

      Technically, j-16 is kind of an indigenous Chinese variant/ without a direct origin from soviet/Russian fighter. The aero dynamic shape is a knock off but everything else including engine are all Chinese design. J-16d growler is even more indigenously designed (the only flanker w/o gun).

      @chanman819 Před 2 lety +1

      @@yichongwang7699 That would make sense, but in pictures, the Russian imports always seem to be carrying R-27/R-73 missiles.
      Are the J-16 not qualified for PL-8s? I assume the launch pylon is a bit different due to the PL-8's long fins, but thought the capability would have been retained to allow use of existing stocks of missiles.

    I love watching a master at work. I have the FA-18 and F-16, but the A-10 keeps calling me back. I really like flying ground support. One of these days I'm going to need to start focusing on Air to Air training, because there are so many cool looking campaigns coming for my fighters.

    So I doubt you will see this GS but I wanted to post it anyways. I ended up getting DCS because of your videos and how cool every one of your videos are after playing about 2 hours on the keyboard (and it being broken in the current version of dcs apparently) I got a flight stick and decided to try it that way and even then the frogfoot IMO just isnt fun to play and I was going to stop playing till I saw this video and you suggested the f-18 and I took the jump to get it and I have to say the F-18 is dramatically more fun, forgiving, reactive and overall just a more enjoyable plane to fly I have now been flying it for about 3 hours almost through the training missions for it and im so excited to actually get into the missions for it. Thank you.

      Hi man, really glad you decided to give the hornet a chance, the su25 is good and all but its really just a plane to mess around with for a limited time to get familiar with the sim, and also to see if your PC can even run it. (there are people who live and die by the su25, but its not for everyone) but ya the hornet is a great starter aircraft and has huge potential for stuff for people to practice and learn. so, great purchase in terms of bang for your buck. Glad to have you in the community.

    That 9X is impressive tho.
    I mean that is a 45 degree offset to the nose. And all while you still had downward mometum and the j16 was already in a climb.
    And that was still a pretty safe shot.

    Is it generally worth it to fire a fox 2 on each turn of the 1-circle? It seems like a lot of the time the WEZ is clearly jammed so it would be better to just save the missile

    • @GrowlingSidewinder
      @GrowlingSidewinder  Před 2 lety +9

      the problem is when u press the weapon release, its not that tight by the time the missile comes off the rail, its too late. its a fight with milliseconds margins. but you're right IF you can clearly tell its jammed then ya, hold the shot.

    • @TyreChewingDog
      @TyreChewingDog Před 2 lety +1

      I’ve won a few 1 circle fights with the Hornet on the second turn (no shots on the first) with the 9X. I generally saved my energy in the first and cashed it all out in the second, and override the G-limiter to get that turn performance. Fox 2, and then it’s game over for the other jet. Not too reliable of a manoeuvre, but it is fun when you pull it off.

      From the navy training manual on BFM: 1. Shooter within CNATRA Sidewinder Envelope.
      2. Target in the HUD Field of View (FOV).
      3. Wingman must not be in HUD FOV (shot deconfliction).
      4. Pull the trigger (when steps 1, 2, and 3 met).
