Its understandable when she cant really explain it. A lot of slangs are obviously culture-related. Slangs are national inside-jokes
As a isreali... She explained it really well. But I guess still some of it sounded wierd to those who don't know hebrew
@@itayschool4544 as an Israeli, I really don't think she did. If I wasn't Israeli I wouldn't understand. There are parallels in English to almost every slang phrase in hebrew she reviewed, that's the best way to explain it.
@@galekenig9907 As a linguist and translator nope, there isn't one for each one. Some are closest to the meaning but it's never ever the exact same meaning or context.
I understood very well and I don't know anything about Hebrew.
One of the best definitions I've ever encountered on what is slang. Slang is not as easy due to its constant changes even between same language speaking countries, not to mention within the same country.

Well also have achi and yalla in Arabic!
Tachles exists in German, too. We spell it like Tacheles and it means the exact same. We use it like this: "You need to talk Tacheles to him" as in "you need to stop beating around the bush and just tell him how things are - straight to the point"
I know there are similarities between the languages, because they influenced each other but that was a surprise
Because it's neither Hebrew nor German, it's Yiddish. Both language tribes have just adopted it. Further examples based on a sentence: Wenn du ausgekocht bist und im Beisel mit einer duften und kessen Schickse schmust und ein Techtelmechtel hast, das Kaff es sieht und es deiner Ische mauscheln, dann hast du mit deiner Mischpoke Zoff und hockst im Schlamassel
Now guess what all of it is Yiddish? 😆
Well it's not exactly like that in Israel. I'll give you an example:
"Tacheles- vanilla is the best ice cream flavour "
Tachles is exactly how Gal described it, however it can also be used as an affirmation:
-“That idiot has no idea what he’s talking about”
-“Tachles” [ie for real, I agree]
Came to see similarities with Arabic, not disappointed... Interesing

“Tachles”- can also mean Truth. Like I say something like that “dude, animal cruelty is so wrong” so you can say “Tachles” like “true that”
Or when a friends says something and you wanna tell him he’s actually right you’d say “Tachles, You’re right”
“Pa’am shlishit Glida” can be used to say when sometimes has happened more than twice like if I see the same person twice at the same day and then I saw him again I will say that, and it’s like you owe me glida haha ice cream.

Great additions/comment (although as others noted, Yalla and Ya Alla are not he same).
@wownouser actually it does have to do with god. Muslim warriors added the letter Y (or yud) to the name of their god and used it as a battle cry. The meaning is "I swear in God".
