Grew up hearing my dad speaking Hebrew but never really knowing exactly what he was saying. Now I suddenly realize that my dad swears a lot.
Natalie LMAO!! This is the best comment!!
Hahaha!!
Natalie, lol that's awesome.
Hahaha best comment
lol I would know what he say XD
I want Natalie vs Gal hebrew convo to happen so bad.
Azizah S. it's will be kinda wierd,
Natalie has good english but bad hebrew..
and Gal has good hebrew but bad english
Since Gal lived in Israel for most of her life she's probebly gonna win.
Azizah S. jahaja
You bet ! I speak Hebrew too. שלום-Hello
Liran c - i imagine that would be expected considering natalie has been in hollywood since she was 13
*in the calmest voice ever* "Zayin is Dick"
"Zayn is dick".."also the letter of the alphabet" hhhhh lol
Idan DrMeyuw
BrHarley054
^How pro-Palestinian of you..
Don't feed the troll
I am arab and im surprised how hebrew and arabic are quiet similar, they quiet sound similar and lot of words are the same in arabic ...all things aside i love natalie and wish her a good luck at the oscars
I know it's crazy how closely related it is! Even the most simple words like "Salam" and "Shalom". xx
all languages come from LaShon HaKodesh the holy tongue. the progression is
lashon hakodesh the holy tongue
aramaic, the bridge between the holy tongue to the
the 70 original languages, from which exist
all languages on earth today.
I'm Arab too and Isralis are our cousins. Not only the language is similar but also the looks
Olivia I'm an israeli and I learnt arabic at school so i can definitely say the languages have a lot in common. Also the grammar is quite the same. But still they're very different.
I think a native hebrew speaker would find it easy to speak arabic and the opposite.
Sam well speak about urself dumb ass .
I laughed so hard when she so casually explains swearing in hebrew 😂😂😂
Natalie Portman: Born in Jerusalem, is Jewish
VF: Speaking Hebrew is a secret talent!
hehehe
i could listen to her speaking hebrew all day long
hey look, lana del rey is on youtube
She can do anything she wants all day long, and would watch.
dazed darling +
Natalie is not only an amazing actress, director and producer: She's also a wonderful teacher:-) She's a national treasure
SSsteve I prefer Bergen-Belsen.
BADEZIMMER TV you should get a life...
LOL! Who would have thought that swearing would be so offensive to a Nazi troll that they would self-censor.
Yeh she's really nice.
wow I'm really impressed with her pronunciation in Hebrew, not in a condescending way but in a "wow she speaks my language" way.
This is her native language
Wow her Hebrew is perfect! What an awesome woman.
sparkss4 she is Israeli borned...
I know that but she moved at a very early age so her good accent is not obvious.
sparkss4 probably she kept speaking hebrew with her family...
It's her native language...
"This is dick. It's also a letter of the alphabet."
Um.
Hebrew language.
What.
What are you doing.
Much respect.
Really.
I love you.
But what.
IDK, it kinda was a sub-phase of learning your first curse-word in your childhood . idk. bool-bool means bird. it also means penis.
English has that too. Pronunce the letter "S"........"ass".
Kayla M Cook actually the letter is a pictogram of a sword, and it means that. So... the slang just kinda naturally follows😏
Kayla M Cook, ikr. that cracks me up though. My children always laughed at that when they were younger.
That is the letter ז
i'm hungarian jewish!!
i can only say Shalom
ani beseder
_i know almost all my manners after 2 months of practice_
_we both know nothing-_
Haha I'm the opposite. I'm Jewish and Israeli and my roots are Hungarian but I only speak Hebrew not a word in Hungarian
I’m beseder too
Sziaaa
Jó napot kívánok
I love how she says the slang terms with such class !
Dick Malik from now on it is
Hahahahahahahahahahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LMAOO
Lmao😂
It reminds me of that Little mix performance where a fan screamed "Zayn is a d*ck" right in front of Perrie
LOL in polish "Bałagan" also means a mess
hebrew probably took it from polish, a lot of modern hebrew is borrowed from european languages as well as arabic
hitler invaded poland
in russian also.
but there are many words that are similar in many languages
@Darkzz Lord Thanos'ed their population for a brighter tomorrow
same thing in Russian
Her accent is SO great! Hebrew is a tough language
why would you wanna learn it
@@blazing5925 If you want to live in Israel
@@blazing5925why not? It’s a nice sounding language.
It’s her first language
Actually Manyak means Asshole in Hebrew slang but great Job ! :)
Im a native speaker
It means in Hebrew asshole,docuhebag
Manyak is maniac in russian and turkish
lmao we use that in here (lebanon) aswell
Manyak means crazy or maniac in Turkish.
@60sisthashit no
no1 uses Manyak as maniac.. we use it as "asshole" or something like that
she's amazing! love it! (: 💘
She was awesome, great translation! ♥
beautiful and classy.
Audrey Hepburn's grand daughter ?
Why am I so in love with her? Cause she’s such an amazing teacher, that’s why!
I love Hebrew. Such a beautiful language to hear! I have to go to Israel!
Hebrew is just like a scrambled version of Arabic lol
Hebrew is Much ancient than Arabic.
It means that Arabic is just like a scrambled version of Hebrew,
and not the opposite
the other way around, Hebrew is way older than Arabic.
bring it on Thank you! Hebrew is indeed a special language
Modern Hebrew is about 100 years old, a bit more. It is based on Aramic language (language of the Bible) which is VERY old, much older than Arabic.
Suddenly I want to learn Hebrew...
What a beautiful language
"Chai b'seret" really is a great saying. I'll never use the Hebrew phrase because I just can't make those throaty sounds well, but the translation and usage is fantastic.
Khai be’seret actually refers to someone being delusional. Like, my boss is living in a movie if he thinks I will read my emails on the weekend.
i love her so much
I hate her so much.
I agree she is incredibly beautiful and talented, there is nothing to dislike about her.
Scott Shiff hate towards her is motivated by either one of these two motives: Antisemitism/ the fact she was born in israel OR because the haters in question are conservative zionists who are pressed by her criticism of israel's ugly politics. Both herds are lame as fuck lmao xx
Same, me too!!
Beautiful language!
BADEZIMMER TV Not sure what exactly you're saying here but it would be my honor to go to Auschwitz to pay my respects to the over one million people who were murdered there.
Jane E you meant 6 million
Selman army I actually meant just at Auschwitz but you are correct on the total.
beautiful people
also insanely difficult to learn
I love that Gal Gadot just did a Hebrew slang video. Now I can watch these 2 together and be happy.
Since when talking your native language is considered a "secret talent"??
well besides it being her native language, it is also not English, and to most people born in the US, knowing any language that isn't English is indeed a "secret talent"...
When you change your name to look and sound "more white" or "less Jewish" in the U.S., the ability to speak your native language is considered a "secret talent..." there are a few actors like her.
@Darkzz Lord it's not just Jews who do that, a lot of white Americans with Anglo heritage will blend in, be Caucasian as ever but then not identify as White (call themselves Irish or Italian or whatever) to sound exotic. I'm not saying that's what Natalie Portman did or discrediting someone's actual heritage. I've just noticed the (mildly offensive?) trend. I really don't think it's a Jewish stereotype.
coz we didn't know until now that sHE SPEAKS HEBREW
I was wonder the same thing lol
"Balagan" isn't balcony. It is Russian origin (probably also to Russian it came from some eastern language) and means "big tent" where traveling circus used to perform, it was very noisy, so in Russian slang it also used to describe a noisy disorderly place, in Hebrew it became "mess" , "disorder".
Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actors. Loved her since The Phantom Menace and V for Vendetta. She's an amazing person and a great actor.
What a difference watching this video vs Gal Gadot's
As a father to teenagers i have to say that a serious update is required. Love you Natalie.
I wish I can learn Hebrew 😊😊
You can.
If you know Arabic so you know Hebrew
@@dokkanblox9695 no im hebrew and i cant undarstand most of arabic
@@dokkanblox9695 I studied Arabic as well, so I know some Hebrew words too.
@@ellgndd5343you can’t be Hebrew. Hebrew is a language. Not ethnicity 😁
Vader: "Padme you're alive?
Natalie: "Yes but who are you, some kind of new droid?"
Vader cries
Love You 💞 They have Gal do it 5yrs later(2021ish)
LOVE and GRATITUDE for Hebrew/English translation✨
For as long as I've heard this, I just don't think of Natalie Portman as Jewish. But, I'm so glad to see she's so connected to her cultural heritage.
It’s not just her “cultural heritage”…she’s Israeli…it’s her native language.
@@absolutjackal You're right. She was born in Jerusalem.
She was born in Israel but she against the Zionist state
The curse words caught me off guard cause Natalie is a classy girl
She is just so wonderful
Hey what's that trumpet music at the start of the video? I wanted to hear more.
It shocked me I thought Zayn was only just a letter 😂0:50
Lol it's so weird to me
Her Voice Is So Cool.
Very soft sensual voice ❤️
Love it Neil - you go buddy!
I'm Polish and "Bałagan" is the word for "mess". Super interesting to find that out!! Basically spelt/pronounced the same way in Hebrew, except for the one letter.
The "ł" in Polish is pronounced as a "W" it would like sound "bah-wah-gan"
I'm proud of myself for knowing most of these.
@spiritRider1 בטויטר
Love this!
OMG you nail it
Al Hapanim = On the face, means terrible, like falling "on your face with your hands in the pockets"
You nailed it couldnt be explained better well done 👏
This is the first time I watch a Slang explanation of a language that actually I don't understand 😂
Wow her voice 😍
love her!!!
Natalie Portman is a sweetheart.
She is smart and beautiful.
I love her!!
you are gayy
gelu4in. so?
Love this.
Thank you very much, Natalie! 👏😊
I came here after watching Gal. Love both girls.
Whoa. I had no idea that Natalie Portman had so much vocal fry in her voice. It makes her portrayal of Jackie Kennedy’s distinctive voice so impressive.
Yeah, and this is terrible to listen to, this is ridiculous.
wait why tho? u can control how much vocal fry in your voice, its not impressive to not speak in vocal fry lmao
Hebrew is her first language
she said ben zona and zayin😂😂😂
i love natalie portman especially when she plays padme in star wars
beautiful language
"Maniac is maniac"
wow now i know hebrew
but thats not true "maniak" maens a shiti man.
If you guys wanna know what Israelis have to deal with, look no further from this guy^^^^
BADEZIMMER TV every time i write a comment stating that I'm jewish someone respond with something like that. why? in my comment i only said something nice "we love you natalie". why would you hate on that?
BADEZIMMER TV and I'm not your "jewish friend" if you say to me something like that
Idan DrMeyuw what??

I slimmed down and I don't have the neck hith anymore. thanks
I love love love her ❤️
Totally cool. More understandable than most Hebrew teachers on here. I understand you're some kind of a movie actor/actress or something, but now, with this, you'll always have a job. Good! And, we just learned zayin in Hebrew class .... now it will be hard not to laugh.
0:27 Chaval Al Hazman = pity the time = meaning: it's so good, no point competing against it.
Good to know! I'm beginner Hebrew and this is a god lesson. ^u^
I'm gonna be dad too! Happy Birthday!
beautiful language!!
Great video
She is more serious than Gal. I think she is a good teacher and Gal is a good friend.
Turn on captions and go to 0:57
“hi the senate” Padmé Amidala said too Chancellor “the senate” Palpatine
Israeli women are seriously the most beautiful women on this planet
Josh Chung when you're right you're right
Josh Chung "Israeli" isn't an ethnic group, so it doesn't make sense to say that because modern "Israelis" are from all around the world.
You havent seen me then.
Josh Chung thank you ☺️
123moooona but still there's an Israeli look
That was great Natalie. Really cool.
Thanks. Interesting origin for Balcony - Balagan. Over here it means small space literally. What does Jara or yara mean in Hebrew ? And how is it pronounced ?
in Hebrew Jara is a water jug made of clay
Manyak is manyak in Tagalog :o interesting :)
I'm surprised how unknown is the fact that Hebrew and Arabic are very close 'relatives' on the language tree, and even people speaking arabic don't know this...
Gulyás Balázs
@wownouser lol that’s not what he said. German and English are both Germanic “relatives” doesn’t mean you can understand each other
@wownouser Probably not when you hear it but if you're a fluent Hebrew speaker you might be able to pick up some key words in Arabic.
that's so funny I'm dying!!
I didn't know she spoke so Well!
Oh wow, I didn't know she's so that well informed in hebrew, I mean, I knew she spoke hebrew but I didn't know she knew the slang as well, חבל על הזמן!
Huh, now I know what I'm saying every time I sing "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas
L'CHAIM!
In Amsterdam and The Hague we say: 'geen ponem'(panim=face/sight)= "Not nice to look at'.
We still call Amsterdam "Mokum' (Makom=city) and you can order jajem (Yayin = wine).
In The Hague we say 'koude Jatte' ( koude handen/cold hands). Jad = hand.
We called 10 Guilders a 'Joet' (num. value of jota = 10)
And a 'Mijer' stood for 100 Guilders.
'Toffe gabber' means 'nice dude/friend' in Dutch. 'Gaver tov' in hebrew.
DAMN THATS SOOOOOO COOOOOOOL
awesome
i love it how she curses and says it with such simplisity lamo
pretty good Hebrew
Kol Hakavod, Natalie! 😊🔯
wow, I'm surprised! in polish the word we use to describe a mess is "bałagan" which is surprisly similar to Hebrew word. didn't know that :D
Her voice is so raspy 😍😍
No wonder her beauty looks similar with Gal Gadot
She doesn't look like Gal
Hebrew sounds beautiful
Thanks 💛
this is beautiful
Natalie is always "achla" -- thank you and all the best!
I misread this as 'Natalie Portman Teaches You Hebrew Song'
D*ck Malik? We mispronounced his name all the time! Eternal gratitude Natalie! :'D
