My issue with the Breakfast club thing is this: You can’t preach EVERYDAY about Mental Health Awareness and the minute you are faced with someone battling mental instability, you laugh in their face.

I believe Marjorie acts like that towards them. Shirley is a radio vet and was a personality on the radio in L.A. for years before Steve even got on the radio. It's disappointing that Marjorie acts like that but Shirley helped Steve in his radio career.

I'ma say this about Tyrese, my husband was bipolar and the Dr had put him on some meds and it completely had him out of himself he thought I was trying to kill him the last time he took it I had to call EMS, the first time we had no idea what was wrong he was so confused saying all kinds of things he was not himself, so it is very possible that Tyrese was not all there dealing with a loved one that has a mood disorder is very hard and if you have never took care of ppl with mental health disorders you are only looking from the outside, just imagine working in healthcare and coming home just to work more

It takes discernment to read between the lines, which I realize the average person does not have and why most persons feel Envy was the villain. Then here he comes with his monologue about all these negative feelings AFTER they came to a resolution. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve done for me… I am NOT anybody’s savior, therapist or punching bag. Sometimes distance IS the only answer. And that’s the end of it.

I used to be a avid listener of Steve Harvey radio show. The person that turned me off from listening is actually Shirley. She always presented herself as if she was this upper epsilon, have value, high Society, classy base, Don’t take no bullshit from a man type of person, and it always seemed like she was putting on airs to me, even when she will respond to the Strawberry letter something about her just turn me off and I stop listening probably about 10 years ago to be honest with you. Then for her to go out bad behind a man into beastiality and damage her relationship with her daughter.

Sadly, the relationship between her daughter and herself is forever fractured. I'm living proof of when your mom puts a man above you and when it fails, there's no bridge to come back over for her. Years of therapy and my own healing has helped me and I'm hoping the same for her daughter, the grand-babies.....and weirdly for Ms. Strawberry. There's a certain level of epistemic ambivalence at play here on her part no doubt.
Wow! A friend is in the same situation. She and her siblings refuse to forgive their mom for putting a man above them after he divorced her, and I cannot seem to understand why. What about that damages the relationship to the point of it being irreparable?
I totally understand that but forgiveness doesn't require a relationship with her. That's essential to their peace. I had to learn that the hard way. It's difficult when the one who was supposed to mother you, doesn't and elect to love and nurture grown men who, they themselves, are missing something. The cycles just repeats until someone decides to get off the ride, seek help and do the work. And the work is ugly baby. It's painful.....but the journey is worth it. And your friends may learn something about their mom that they never knew, that helps to explain her.....not excuse her. And this may help to she her in a different light. I'm sorry if my response is so long love but I'm wishing your friends the best. ❤❤❤❤

Me too. I learned a long time ago that my mother just doesn't know how, or chooses not, to be a mother.
She gets more emotional pay out from a man than she does from her children. She values how men see her more than how her children feel. It hurts but I constantly remind myself not to take it personal. It has nothing to do with me and everything to do with her and her value system

I heard the calls and if she said her daughter only calls when she wants something, then she said what she said. And I believe that her daughter only calls when she wants something. Why, because Shirley pays her daughter’s rent and because I know too many children and grandchildren, who do this to their mothers and grandmothers. As far as the other things she said about her daughter going to the police, we must remember that she said that because she still believed him. So, she actually does believe that someone got in her daughter’s head. Just like she said, the police told her, “You don’t know who you’re married to.“ Also, if she didn't raise her daughter then her daughter can also stay out of her pockets.
I also don’t see where she talked about her friends like dogs. And while she probably shouldn’t have said the things she said, they were a slap on the wrist compared to how some people talk about their so-called friends/family. Saying Steve was winded going up the stairs, and that his wife threats them like the help is probably not only true but it’s not that painful. And when her soon to be ex-husband tried to get her to say more she never did. When he tried to insinuate that Steve thought he was guilty, she said, “He didn’t say that to me.” So, I just think everybody’s reaching for something that’s not there as if they haven’t said far worse about their friends and family.
