I'm curious which brave souls have hunkered down in one of these bases?
CGE corp is pretty goated. Low zombie count, a lot of space and a small amount of entrances for its size. Perfect for a multiplayer base, or a run with dangerous zombies you want to be far from; sprinters or worse. Also the location is not too far from either the river or the small gas station.
I've settled into CGE Corp in on of my ( far too many 😂) playthrough. the only reason I left this place was the astronomical number of trips I had to make every time I ran out of equipment
I used to base on the farm (point 2) and i kinda disagree, i didn't have any problems with zomboids, i could work on cars outside all day and had plenty of space for everything. I'm always securing a working car in early game and having gas station, short blunt storage not plenty zombies around i must say it's really good base for me (survived the longest of 40 days, died to my overconfidence when dismantling car wrecks in junkyard)
We have a server rn where we based in the farm lol
I used to have a base at the 2 farmhouses, and I totally agree with you. The amount of zomboids that migrate there after a short period of time is absolutely ludicrous given the remote appearance of the location.
don't use notification sounds for any video, ever
This, this this 1000 times again
😂
I agree! I had to check Discord nearly every time
at the beginning of the video, I was like, who the hell is messaging me on discord
😆
Ever looked into the 2 story country store or 2 story bar to the north, right next to the river and single gas pump. Bit of a car ride to loot the factory and storage lot, but to loot those places you are going to drive there to have storage capacity for all the loot anyways. Great informational videos btw. 👍
Thank you. I appreciate it 😊
Nice video as always!Keep it up bro!
Thanks man, big shoutout to you for the support - I truly appreciate it! 🙌

8:20 - That's cool, a base atop the storage units; I thought a similar thing could be done at the trailer park (and it could) but it would be even more spread out.
I'm not gonna lie. Making the trailer park full of bridges could look pretty awesome, but it's gonna chew up a ton of resources.
@@bladiuss Done in mp might {would} be easier, but yes I get your point!
Though I'm yet to play any MP! :(
I set up in location 2 in a recent play-through. However I only did so because of using a mod that adds several military encampments and checkpoints, one of which is right outside the farm-houses. Gave a little bit of extra security and loot to make it worth-while.
I reckon that mod actually turns it into one of the best spots in Riverside because, basically, all the good loot is now stacked right there! 😉
@@bladiuss Agreed. Default un-modded its the worst place around, but with that mod enabled it had me geared for a while and slightly more secure with the fences - just had to block a couple of entrances with vehicles.
which mod?
This is the one: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2864652763
In a multi player game we set up at the boat club as our temporary b ase. was good fun.
🫡
I like how the zombies break the floor to ceiling windows only to jump over them like they were regular windows.
I noticed the same thing, and I used to think zombies were a bit dim-witted. But then, when I had my character jump out of the window, he did the exact same thing. So, yeah, it seems zombies aren't alone in that regard. 😄
There is one non-trailer house in the trailer park. It is close to the forest that you can get a lot of wood and do some trapping. It is close to a gas station, a self storage, and a factory warehouse. Once you clear the initially zombie population, you only need to patrol/forage the area a little bit everyday. Life is pretty relaxing there. You don't even need to build a wall to surround your base.
I actually have set up base at the club (location 1) with my brother on our 3rd playthrough (1st modded and 1st in Riverside) and we managed to make it work, although at first we planned to make it temporary but the abudence of resources (water and wood) and good location changed our mind and stayed there for entire month. The key to our success lies in fact that we didn't try to take over entire building at once but at first hid in most eastern room upstairs and block both staircases with furniture. Then gradually the size of our base increase with new rooms until we finally found sledgehammer and secure it properly. After it the base became very secure but we still treated the downstairs as the dangerous outside and always played cautious there (it saved me few times) and only after we focus hard on barricading coudl we really feel safe there. So I believe you can make a good base out of it but it requires a lot of effort and for 1 survivor is not really worthy because you won't need that much space but when you play with a buddy or with a group of friends then it really is very good base because of mentioned recourses and locations but also a lot space to fit even entire colony.
Absolutely agree with you. Any base has the potential to be a good one, but it demands a ton of effort and resources. Some bases come fully loaded with all you need to survive, while others require you to put in the hard work. Ultimately, what matters is having a place that lets you live long enough!
I've actually based down in the old factory building before. If you cut down some trees at the back, it makes travelling to the gas station much faster. Plenty of space, although if you're thinking of only living at the top floor, I'd recommend protecting any sheet ropes you've got available. Eventually I just found the place too large and out of the way to move there permanently. I prefer smaller locations overall.
Don't get me wrong-the place is genuinely cool, with that aesthetically creepy vibe that I love. You could totally set up a functional base there. The issue is the sheer time commitment it would require. Considering there are other options that achieve similar results in a shorter span, that's what puts this place on the list.
>not turning off your messenger sounds
Sorry about that 😅
CGE isn't a bad location on multiplayer servers. The open space means each player has a lot to work with for their personal space and for things like vehicles and crops. Its remoteness means few zombies or unwanted players so that the sort of players that like to stay at the base can do so with little risk.
If you want a remote, out-of-the-way location in single player in Riverside then you want to hit the radio station just an hour's walk away from the trailer park. A single person can survive there on their own basically indefinitely based off of what they manage to supply themselves with just from the warehouse, storage sheds, gas station, and trailers. Only problem is coming across seeds - you'll have to travel into Riverside proper to get those. However you can forage in the area around the station and find crops occasionally, which in turn eventually give you more seeds. The station has the indestructible fence - which you won't likely need anyways because there's so few zeds around. Plenty of trees for chopping down around, it already has a bedroom, has a good chance of spawning a ham radio, there's a storage shed with potential weapons and metalworking tools. Really, with just a single trip into Riverside to hit up the fishing store for rain barrels and the hardware store for seeds (and maybe the Gigamart too if you're feeling lucky) you can get yourself set indefinitely. It's even viable for two, three, even four players.
Absolutely! In terms of MP, those two places are prime real estate, arguably the best locations in Riverside. However, in SP, it's a whole different story!
I’ve used the first spot multiple times, even now in my most recent play through. Just finished chopping down the closest trees to replace the windows with walls after I got a sledge from the storage. Only 12 days in
You know, the CGE building could've been an amazing base with all it has to offer. But here's the kicker - for our list, we're measuring it in terms of defensibility, accessibility, and available resources, and sadly, it falls short in the accessibility and resources departments. In terms of defensibility, it's not the best, but it's easier to defend than some other buildings. If it were closer to the city, it would be a different story. It's a bit disappointing how the downsides seem to outshine the upsides.
I find it funny that in my first time playing this game I called home to two places on this list in the same playthrough.
😅🙃
Honourable mention:
Police station... a huge disappointment in both security purpose as well as for looting purpose...
Car Washer, the weirdest spawn spot in the game, and if you want to turn it into a base... what is the point? Even the gas station store have better defensive.
Golf club rest house, which is right in the middle of the golf course... Yeah, you have wood and water right next to you, and it's a 2 floors building... but the 2 windows is so massive, and the distance to anywhere else is also massive.
Community building, right next to the church... It looks pretty big, it has 2 floors, except the 2nd floor is so small, you better just cross the street and find a house in the gated community. Need lots of planks to barricade the first floor with the number of windows and doors.
Totally get your picks. Gotta admit, I've got a little love for the police station since it was my first hideout ever. But yeah, it's not the best spot, for sure!
BTW, I had no idea the car wash was a spawn point. I've been lucky enough not to start there, but I can just imagine that feeling of spawning at a car wash and being like...wtf?😂😂
Weird enough, my only time spawned at car wash was the run that lasted more than 1 year. I expected it to end in the very second i sneaked out of it as there were 20 or so zombies outside of the car wash... and yeah, no weapon, no loot, not even a proper door... at least Zombie can't see inside. Had to sneak all over the place for the first weapon as both closest buildings have no weapon( gas station store) or weapon locked behind doors (police station).
Totally worst spawn point as well as the worst Riverside (meme) base.
Your survivor was quite the character, huh? I mean, what in the world was he doing inside a car wash on the very first day of the zombie apocalypse? Let's hope he had the good sense to be dressed! 😂😄
All of these bases clearly ignore COMMON SENSE logic, being that the best bases:
- are the ones off the beaten path but not too secluded
- have the least amount of access points
- have at least one upper floor
- have a decent amount of fencing already im place
- have decently tucked in backdoor access
- require relatively small effort to enclose
- require relatively small effort to defend
You've just hit the nail on the head, just add to that list having well-defined POIs, and we are cooking.
CGE Factory i am basing at in my current playthrough and its a really good base. you also miscounted the amount of entry points, the garage doors are 4 wide and there is also the top entrance on the walk way. not that it matters because its easily blocked by the 2 doors leading to the big open area inside. also if you remove the stairs you have a massive base where nothing can reach you. also it really doesnt matter that there are any entry points because there are barely any zombies around. therer is also a house with every single thing you would need right outside. the gas station is also not that far.
I just can't see it as a proper long-term main base for your character. The place is really far away, and while it's true you have more than enough space to do all sorts of things, eventually, you'll run out of nails, tools, and supplies, and that's where the long scavenging trips to the city are needed. I remember when I based there; I was spending practically half of my day driving. It's a cool spot, but I don't see it being the ideal choice.
You know that final spot would probably work well as a multiplayer base for a large group. Now I’m talking like faction of 15 people if not more, and on a server that is well into end game, but it could be a fun exercise in restoration. With it’s large size everyone would have their own space to build, it’s isolation would give it security against other players as well as zombies, it’s close to a lot of forest so you’d have trapping and foraging resources which are crucial in end game, and a secret direct road to the gas station could be made which would give the faction a unique advantage in having an isolated source of power that most likely isn’t on anyone’s radar.
Obviously it would take an insane amount of time, man power, and resources to make, but again if this is a faction working on it then they would have all of that. The isolation and obscurity of the area would be wonderful in multiplayer (especially PvP multiplayer), and really all you’d have to worry about was not having an readily available infinite source of water.
I agree. For MP, it could become a great place for a faction!
I hope I gonna see more about other places at othet cities in game.
Absolutely, I'll be posting videos for each city we cover in this playlist on a weekly basis. Feel free to follow along here: czcams.com/play/PLXPzrFM-bOUuIbvikvLvYB-TJJg-HcKOz.html&si=Ywys74o-Xvo353oh
Storage Unit as bases may be nice but it requires decent skills without breaking tons of furniture to setup the basics (aka bed, cooking stove etc). not to mention the sledgehammer being mandatory to join the rooms. Better to hunk down at the Riverside trailer as a starter, then move to the storage or warehouse later after having the tools, car and furniture.
What's cool about the Riverside storage facility is that one of the storage units already comes with a mattress, so you don't need to fuss over finding or building a bed right away. You can totally get by with just one unit; they offer plenty of space. And if you ever need more room but don't have a sledgehammer, no problem - step outside, open another unit. Plus, these units have only one way in, and the whole place is surrounded by one of the best tall fences in the game. So yeah, I'd totally recommend focusing on upgrading the storage facility right from the start. Just by being there, your life expectancy will increase drastically.
I've found that the CGE buildings are not terrible in the late game when you already have the access to cars and fuel. I use it as a base and loot deppo in my nomad runs.
You know, the CGE building could've been an awesome base with all it has to offer. But here's the kicker - it's lacking in resources, kind of remote, and there aren't many cool places nearby. That just makes every little errand a real chore. If it were closer to the city, we'd be talking a different story. It's a bit of a bummer how the downsides seem to outshine the upsides, right? 😕
@bladiuss indeed. You have to truck in almost everything you need. With the secret Z mod there is a massive military checkpoint on the highway nearby with fuel barrels and weapon loot to be had, but lots of Zeds.
That mod totally changes things for the third, second, and top locations. I mean, the second one, now it's practically neighbors with the Military Checkpoint, which means quick access to the primo loot in Riverside. 😄
@@bladiuss For the post apocalypse challenges Its a good place but only If you have cars and plenty of resources and weapons you could probably turn the building into the Saviors sanctuary specially in a multiplayer run and make a backroad through the woods to reach the highway and gas station
For my taste I personally like the Hillbilly style bases like the secluded house with the fenced trailer(drug lab) and the Farms and Cabins or abandoned rural places like the train station It gives me Dixon brothers vibes after all its rural Kentucky.
I had to move out of the CGE Building because I spent most of the day traveling from one place to the other, so I definitely see the point.
I enjoy the place for a spooky challenge, a chill playthrough, or even as a fallback spot. But for a long-term main base, I can't see it being very profitable!
Hmh the farm west of Riverside is great if you want to have an isolated base in the wild ^^ It was one of my first places to settle up. The only problem is the number of zombies. I dont know why there are so much but whatever. You have to drive a while to reach Riverside but i like the feeling of travelling in the game...
If you're after an isolated spot and don't mind travel times for resources, it's a decent place. But I'd still suggest the radio station as a superior alternative. It's surrounded by tall metal fences, offers ample space, natural resources, and zero zombies. You can check it out here: map.projectzomboid.com/#4873x6248x1347
@@bladiuss Should work, too. I have started in Muldraugh now and my plan is to settle down in Louisville :D The location where you have all these mansions with a waterfall well in the middle of it. I like it to have a good looking safehouse where you can build arround.
Go for it, my friend! You're eyeing a really cool location. Just be cautious because the place is swarming with zombies. Take it slow and start by clearing out a few zombies. Don't push your character too hard, and as soon as you see that "tired moodle," let your character rest for a while to recover.
@@bladiuss The first time i settled down there i played with a lower zombie pop so it wasnt that hard. I nearly have about 400 play hours but I never played with a zombie pop above 0.8 lol :D
Now i have a normal zombie population (0.6 start, 1.0 multiplier and 1.5 peak). I hope it is not too much haha. I have started in Muldraugh now cause i like the houses in the middle of the town with wooden walls.
Well, Muldraugh, with a peak population of 1.5, is not a walk in the park. If you manage to survive that, you have good chances for Louisville.
i once was playing in riverside, i had probaly the worst spawn in the trailer park, that didnt stop me from moving some furniture to a garage self-unit and surviving off self-unit food and vending machines snack for days until i managed to move to a better house, the one story house near the trailer park in riverside
I really like that house; it's quite unique in Knox County
yeah it also was better than that self unit garage that had a mattres. a mini fridge a microwave and some boxes@@bladiuss
@@nob_gaming23 mmmh no, at least for me, there's nothing like that storage unit in Riverside. I'm probably biased because that was my first base location. But there's nothing like the feeling of being all scared inside your storage unit, eating a can of dog food while heavy rain falls from the sky, and you hear the screams from people outside still being killed (meta events).
i mean yeah that house is near the trailer park with ton of zombies which is true, but in my spawn i cleared out some zombies and when i was looking for a car, i was guessing i cleared out 30-50% of the zombie population somehow with my crowbar@@bladiuss
So, what happened in the end? Did you stick around or bounce to a new spot? From what I've seen, trailer parks get pretty packed after a month or two because of zombie migration.
CGE Factory disagreed.
As i said before, its the first place where i had a good base. Theres a gas station nearby, large open spaces, not too much to fortify, nearly no zombies around at all, a short drive/walk from the river and most importantly a very big roof. All you need to access it is to break down one of the walls leading to it on the highest floor, and you got a roof where you can do anything you want.
Two big garages and a large space outside for cars. Easily walled-off perimeter, forest right next to you.
Sure, its very distant from other major towns, but its no problem to just get in a truck and have a road trip.
its my current base and its one of my favorites now. has much more potential than most bases, it just takes more work.
@@MrSpaceMees True. I like it for the fact if you destroy the railings and the wall leading to the big room in the loading dock garage, you can get alot of space for all of your cars to not leave them outside. The roof is also a big W of the place, yoi just need a sledgehammer to access it
I've never even been here but I agree with you. Kyle Middleton has a multiple years long run with sprinters and that's his base and he made that place look amazing.
What the heck is that zombie on the start of the video? Is it a superhuman zombie that exists in sanbox or a mod?
They come from a mod called " Occult Zombies"
Im using the all spwan mod and legit it does pick Louisville spots a lot but I tell you what when it doesnt man it puts you in the middle of nowhere lol currently im wayy north of rosewood
That sounds like fun. I'd like to set up a playthrough with random spawn points. It would be cool to start in the middle of nowhere and see how to survive.
Those 3 houses north of rosewood are my fav spot to set up. They are close to a small town to the east with food/meds/guns as well as having few zombies, especially since I play with respawns off.
I am guessing at this point. You're defending your bases the hard way. If you get access to one good tow car. You can choose any place with a window that doesn't reach the floor. If you block them with a car flat to the window you probably fortified that window with less effort. Also plus would be outdoor storage for stuff and gas. I haven't got around to trying this. I will be testing this.
That's definitely a solid option, maybe one of the best ways to fortify a base in the game. The problem arises when your base has 14+ windows, which forces you to start looking for alternative ways to fortify it or make the tough decision to relocate to a better spot. That's why choosing the right location from the get-go is crucial.
@@bladiuss which is great. However most cars cover about 3 tiles across. The amount of work involved with windows can become a huge thing for sure. However with burglar to start you're able to fortify faster. However my next point would be. This is why I always clear the perimeter. Any building is a death trap if you aren't careful.
These worse choices are pretty bad For sure. Just some times you might have an opinion that might take less time than you thought. Im alway thinking tactically. Also roll up garages are a great escape plan. Giving a few seconds thought before opening it with the car started and ready to roll out. Reasons why i like speed demon.
Great tips actually 👌
Number 1. I think Chloe Price would disagree.
Would Max disagree? 🤔
And you know you can build stairs inside correct? In a 1 story house you can build stairs inside and the roof will support you or you can just use planks to build a floor but yea...works i tried it
Actually, it doesn't work in all buildings. Some one-story buildings come with sturdy roofing, so even if you build a set of stairs, you won't be able to go upstairs. This is the case for only a certain handful of buildings; your tip works in most others.
Thanks, I had only tried it on 2 houses so yea limited data pool lol I also recently learned you can dissasemble player built stairs
The riverside bar next to the hotel is by far the worst in my opinion. The building is made of glass.
Definitely a top contender
If you are like me, and are starting to burn out on this game, try THESE settings... basically, make the zombies hard, but set your XP multiplier to anywhere from 12 to 42 and give yourself GREAT cars with full gas... and make ammo and ranged weapon rarity "common". Also, a Mod that lets you keep your skills by reading a Journal will allow you to keep bites fatal. You are welcome.
Awesome tip 👌
uhh.. all except number 3.
I made bases in multiplayer servers 😅
Its challenging but fun
No matter how bad a base initially looks, with hard work and resources, any base can be a good base 👍
Bruh I set up bases at locations 3 and 2 and they are A LOT better than you give them credit for.
The Scenic Grove Trailer Park for starters has guns and ammo. For example I found a double barrel shotgun and shells in the registration house in the trailer park.
It also has tons of food and drinks, appliances, trees for lumber, some melee weapons like a machete in my game, lots of space for farming, 2 barbecue grills, as well as tons of space and more.
I border walled the whole park of with wooden walls.
The farm base has 2 comfy houses with food/drinks, some fishing supplies, a decent amount of trees for lumber, lots of farming space of course, a bunch of tools in the 2 sheds and more.
This was my first secure base which I border walled off with the buildings being part of the border wall.
These 2 bases are good.
Hey man! No matter how sketchy a base spot seems at first, with some hard work and loads of resources, any place can become a winner. It's all about knowing the lay of the land and being careful in your daily grind. Some bases give you more bang for your buck, but if you're out there putting up tall fences around a whole trailer park, you're basically owning the game!
I dont get what was so bad about no 2
Plain and simple: No walls 🧱
bro stop with the discord notification noises
Got it. Discord sounds = bad
No offense, but these worst base videos are pretty pointless. What makes a base location bad? No built-in defenses or poorly situated. Obviously the gated community in Riverside is the best location, just like the houses along the Ohio river are the best location in Louisville, fishing in your backyard and you need to put up like four walls to be totally protected.
🫠
Your video is interesting, but your pronunciation not easy to understand - sorry, buddy.
No problem at all. If anything, I appreciate you bringing it up. It's an aspect I'm actively working on, and I acknowledge the need to put in more effort to elevate the content on this channel. Thanks for your honesty, and I hope in the future, you can enjoy the content without being too distracted by these aspects.
I’ve seen better games on mobile. Last Day on Earth is so much better.
You have not seen better games on mobile that’s just so false a mobile device could never run this game it isn’t super high in terms of specs you can run it on a macbook for example but mobile could never hope to run this game with how big it is
Mobile gaming? It's like a whole other universe. Pop over to steamcharts.com, and you'll see how many peeps are hooked on Project Zomboid daily.
My favorite part of Bladiuss' bideos is mimicking his accent.
Honestly, I would do the same if it was me watching 🤣
