Bladiuss, i recently did some research. I found out that the southern gas station is the *only* gas station in project zomboid with 8 pumps. With enough work and skills, it might become the ultimate base. One gas pump can sustain you for about 12 and a half years with two ice fridges running (not accounting the car and generator condition) so that means you practically could live there for litteraly 100 years without scavenging for more gas.
I can totally envision myself setting up camp on the rooftop of that gas station. With some effort, it has the potential to become a base similar to the one I featured in the "Best Base Locations Muldraugh" video, but with the added advantage of having ample fuel reserves. Great observation on your part, by the way! Not many people pay attention to this spot, but you've definitely got a keen eye for potential base locations.
So for the gated community you want to build the street fences a few tiles back from the edge. That way you can stand at the corner of the fence and see if any Zeds are outside your gate, and shoot them from safety.

I based in the fire department with my friends on our multiplayer world. When we checked the back room with the tools, we found a sledgehammer. Getting a sledge in our base location kinda sealed the deal for us.
Yeah, I mean you can't lose by going to the fire department. The zombies are somewhat scattered, which makes them an easy target, and it's perhaps the best place to get loot in town. And the whole place has enough room for more than three people in multiplayer. Like I mentioned in the video, the developers designed that place with the intention of giving you a boost
I’m currently based in one of the large farmhouses off the dirt road south of the school. Made a large wall for vehicles and all but I haven’t done too much to the house yet except clearing all the interior walls on the first floor. It lets you drive a vehicle in with plenty of room to work and walk. Great video as always :)
Those two houses are pretty cool, especially the one with the shed. I love my construction site base. I've got a double airlock with log walls and metal bars on the front office windows. There's enough space to make a full garden and I turned the back trailer into a greenhouse for the winter (No more over watered carrots.) After several hundred hours playing my best tips are eat at least 5 strawberries spaced out throughout the day they keep you from getting sad, add acorns to your dishes for protein and fats when you have no butter or oil, and put cabbage and potatoes in everything for carb bulk. Also, always shove doors before flash opening so you know if you have company.
My Rosewood action plan when spawning there: Day 1 in Rosewood: Secure your base. Day 2 in Rosewood: Go to the large supermarket and throw any perishable items into the two popsicle freezers. Grab the water cooler on the way out and take it back to base. Day 3 and 4 in Rosewood.: Loot the fire station, the school, and the houses and garages of the houses between the fire station and church. Fortify your base using the materials and tools found. Day 5 in Rosewood: Loot the bookstore and medical clinic. Also, start disassembling furniture inside your base if you haven't already to make room for storage containers you'll loot from houses and garages. Day 6 - 9: Stay home and read books you looted from the school and bookstore until the helicopter event is over. After the helicopter event: Priorities are finding a working vehicle and multiple generators. Clear out the gas station closest to downtown and get a generator by the pumps and fill it up before the power goes out. Get a generator filled up and connected at your base, ready for when the power goes out. Collect freezers and transport them back to your base and transfer all the frozen food from the supermarket back to your base. Start looking for a farmhouse outside of the town but close enough for looting runs with a vehicle where you will transition the game into a medieval farming simulator.
Hey, that's an incredibly detailed and solid plan. I wouldn't add anything else, maybe just consider saving some time to catch Life and Living and boost your skills faster. Of course, that's more up to you, and it's not mandatory.
@@bladiuss I usually catch the cook show when I wake up and make sure when looting to be someplace that has a TV at noon for woodcraft. I'm not too worried about catching the survival show at 6. One of the first things I do as part of securing my base (after killing all zombies inside and in the immediate area) is move the TV into the kitchen so I can cook meals, refill my water bottles, clean my clothes and watch TV at the same time.
I use one of the bigger houses in Rosewood in the south for now, i started as police officer. From there i will loot all interesting buildings first and then I will move on. The house in Louisville where you have the big garage in the west of the town seems to be nice to get settled down. Or maybe playing as nomade would be cool. I have to say that i play with 0.4 starting multiplier and it will go up to 1.0 after 60 days (no respawn). I like it to have lesser zombies but if you dont watch out you can die, too. You know what i would love? A mod or a game system where you can create your own quests or similiar stuff.

For me the best is the Fire Station, have a metal fenses, a garage, 2 floor building, normaly multiple cars and fire trunks, a lot of anti-fire clothes that is good to zombie defense and hatches, the buck have espace to plats or the rain colectors and some trees around to use to barricade or to cook.
Yeah, I totally get you - comparing those last bases was a real challenge since they both excel in their own ways. But honestly, that fire station just takes the cake - it's absolutely incredible!
The church isn't actually bad but u need to work on it like add a bed , kitchen and etc but of course at the start of a new run I made sure to a find temporary base near the church since the church has zero defenses and has many windows so I slowly gather some planks and start sealing the windows and a few doors and slowly the became a fort . But it's right smack at the center of the town so imagine how much plank ure gonna need to build a wall around the church
I would like to play at the church, role-playing as a priest in charge of dispatching zombies from the congregation. I think that's a cool idea for a playthrough. What I like about the place is that it is really big and is in the middle of town, so you have everything within reach. But yeah, it will take a long time and effort to secure!

Plus here's a tip , u can either go for Carpenter or Burglar but I would prefer burglar because there are a lot generators in Rosewood and there are decent trucks around there to help carry them. At most in my current run I found 7 generators so approximately It can last for a very very very long time
I think I'll pick up carpentry to help me secure the church faster. With the horde night mod in mind, I reckon it's better to cover all entrances and leave only a single hallway for zombies to walk in, creating a bottleneck. This way, I can take them down more easily.
This isnt exactly inside rosewood but its a 2 minute drive by car, just north of the gas station, if you keep following the road straight, you'll find a tool shed with loads of tools like pickaxes and general tools, and the two massive warehouses, perfect places ro store multiple vehicles, practice carpentry, filled to the brim with sacks of food, and covered all over by trees, you will have lvl 10 carpentry by the time u die guaranteed
That's weird. I went to the Construction Yard for the first time and there was maybe, 20 total zombies in there. Most were in the inner most yard, with a few in the trailers. Based on this video I expected a huge fight, but most of the trouble came from moving the zombies outside the yard from the gate.
Yes, for some reason, there are a few tiles that haven't been patched yet! That's something I forgot to mention in the video. But no worries, all you have to do is build a wooden floor on that first tile next to the wall you broke, and you'll be good to go! It's a simple fix. @@bladiuss One huge advantage of the Rosewood school is that it has a HUGE yard 98% surrounded by high fencing (so plenty of room for gardening). I generally weld up metal sheets on all the windows OUTSIDE the fence, then put bars on the windows INSIDE the fence, and as soon as possible replace the 2 spots of short fencing with tall fencing.
@@bladiuss Offices become bedrooms, teacher's lounge becomes armory, infirmary stays, library stays library, kitchen stays, bathrooms stay, one classroom becomes garage, one becomes entertainment room, one becomes storage, one becomes workshop... the small utility room by the infirmary becomes laundry, the larger utility room I intended to use for holding solar banks for solar mod. One classroom I usually make virus research for the cure mod. By the time I'm done, I usually have one classroom and the cafeteria left over for future projects.

Where can i find a sledgehammer in rosewood other than the fire deparment as im basing there and didnt get a spawn? Ive searched all the stores and most of the garages, i learned that you can easily break down the garage doors with a club hammer but idk if it works on walls as well
Club hammers don't work on walls, my friend. If you're looking for a sledgehammer, I reckon the car repair shop north of town is your best bet. Give it a thorough search, and don't forget to check out all the garages too. Oh, and keep an eye out for any car events happening on the streets-they might just have the tool you're after. For instance, if you stumble upon a pack of construction worker zombies near a pickup truck, make sure to search both the area around the car and its trunk.
In Rosewood, that can end up being a difficult task, but you can always travel the roads of Knox County in hopes of a construction worker event. These events have a chance to spawn a sledgehammer, so don't give up! Keep searching and you might get lucky!
if you use the mod destroyable world fences then the big point of this location dissapear, so i think in that case would be better to climb to the roof of a house and set a tent and a campfire, and you will be fine
Multiple-story buildings are always a great choice, especially if you've secured the entry points to the second floor. And if there are fences surrounding the area, even better! That's exactly why the gated community grabbed the top spot on my list!

My day 2 is going to that supermarket and throwing everything perishable into the two popsicle freezers by the main door, then grabbing the water cooler in that hallway by the storage area on my way out and bringing it back to base. Just get some freezers set up at your base before the power goes out and transition all that food back to base at your leisure after that, usually after the helicopter event but before the power goes out. I live off of food scavenged from houses prior to the helicopter event.

I like to suggest rosewood expansion, it has a lot more increadible bases. But in vanilla, nothing beats the fire station for me.
I definitely have to try out that mod, as for today I haven't had the chance but I keep hearing it is great! BTW Fire Station rules!

Am I doing something wrong? When I break the wall on the second floor fire department I can’t walk on the roof? I just fall down to the first floor

Isolated gas stations are great if youre willing to travel. Which you are, cuz you posted up at an isolated gas station.

Closest location for reliable spawns would be in the mudlraugh warehouses. There's a few locations but the one just outside muldraugh is the closest

Just get some freezers set up at your base before the power goes out and transition all that food back to base at your leisure after that, usually after the helicopter event but before the power goes out. I live off of food scavenged from houses prior to the helicopter event.

Rosewood is really too small a town. Riverside is much better with a diversity of small communities and almost everything available.
