What a phenomenal band! They were great in the sixties, but they should have been utterly massive in the seventies!!

This WAS Reading 78. They were the last band before the Jam headlined Friday night. The Jam looked a bit silly after this balls-out rock n roll from guys old enough to be their dads!!!

Any band would look and sound weak following The Pirates.Wish there was a full live concert of them in their prime on DVD.One of the tightest hardest rock bands I have ever seen live, and that's coming from a Ramones fan.

@@chrisst8922 Ok I understand your comment now, Festivals are completely different now to how they were years back aren't they I've never been to Glastonbury, they seem to have made Glastonbury more like a Festival for the family these days it's organised now with almost military precision, if you don't want to listen to music there's probably loads of other things to do there, I probably sound like an old school snob and I probably am but give me the great albeit disorganised Festivals of the 70s! I've got a DVD of the Glastonbury festival 1971 called Glastonbury Fayre maybe you've seen it.

She also said that The Jam came on next and in her opinion, they couldn't follow The Pirates! And there's another guy named Jon Williams who was another person in agreement with us, but I couldn't work out which stage they were on but as you said, does it really matter.

Nah,i was there too, 15 and hyper aware of every moment .You are emphatically mistaken .
Pirates played earlier.I remember vividly ,tired and hungry, wishing that the tedious Ultravox set would come to an end so that The Jam could play theirs before I had to sprint for the last train .As it was i could only catch two before wading out of there. Part of that fatigue was not just hunger but from having a damn good dance to Pirates *earlier*.
Not to forget then, that our thoughts of an acts quality is impacted by our own state at the time
