What a brilliant version!! Paul McCartney had Mick Green playing a n Run Devil Run - that says it all. It’s a great song, and this is a phenomenal version!! They should have been massive…
the pirates are kickin' ass, and taking names. thanks mick, johnny, and frank. these guys are incredible, proving that england had legitimate rockers long before the beatles. mick , you are som missed
You've got it bang on the button friend.I saw this band a number of times during the 70's and early eighties and they always gave 100%.The most fun I've ever had was at Pirates gigs and by a street they were the best band I ever saw live.
Great band, they used to play at HUGE volume. I went to this gig, and one at about the same time at the Marquee club in Wardour St... my ears are still ringing
I'd gone to see the punk bands, and then these came on. Blew the festival away. I'd remembered this performance of this song for all these years, and had no idea it was on YT. Tonight, I'm a very happy man!
Jonny Kid and the pirates were the first band that I ever saw, With Jonny Kid and the band all done up in pirate gear. A friend from school's dad took us to London to see them. I then saw the reformed ban at Reading Rock. They were stomping and unlike some bands on that weekend the audience were really rocking to them. I can remember some bands getting canned. Steel not light weight aluminium.
The best version. Mick Green was a monster on guitar whilst wearing thigh high leather boots! I was only 10 when they performed this at Reading but my God is have loved to have been going mental in that crowd
I'd think the Punk Bands had nuthin' but total and utter respect for The Pirates... pity the Punk band that had to play before them... these blokes in their late 30's had all the energy of 20 year olds... and were masters on their instruments... the crowds were sledgehammered by the power and sound of The Pirates... absolute Gob Smacked!!!!!!!
I'd gone to see the punk bands, and then these came on. Blew the festival away. I'd remembered this performance of this song for all these years, and had no idea it was on YT. I'm made up!

Really brilliant, I picked up a 2 CD retrospective of Johnny Kidd and the Pirates recently and every track is totally fantastic, can't stop listening to this great band!
My first live band in 1977 at keggy road tech, Derby, quickly followed by Sham69 (at the tech), The Clash, The Damned, The Jam and Buzzcocks at the King's Hall the same year. My goodness what a time to be a 15 year old lad.
This reminds me of the birth of punk, in my hometown of Bromley and other towns like Croydon, where you could turn up and a band like this would pump this out! Great days!!
awesome...this is just what they were like one night in the autumn of 1977 at Cheltenham Town Hall..bloody excellent and mightily impressed a 17 lad like I was just setting out down the road with a band..
Mick Green is a fuckin' guitar machine! Never seen anything quite like it. He puts his whole body into it and then some. Like it's a weapon. Hmmm...a sword perhaps... :)
@bassman398 The guitar riff and solo were actually played by Joe Moretti. This line up with Green, Spence and Farley was the only one given the ok to use the name by JK .
I was there, August (25th?) 1978, what a weekend. I'd like to say I remember this but that would be a lie all I recall is the band playing/. Happy days.
As far as I'm aware, the reason Mick Green's legend developed initially was because Wilko was inspired by catching him playing with The Pirates in the 60's. I don't think either Wilko nor any of the guys in this video deny who played on the record of this or "Please don't touch".
SHAKIN ALL OVER koncertná verzia skupiny THE PIRATES z roku 1978 v Readingu. Skupinu obnovili v decembri 1976 členovia druhej zostavy Mick Green solová gitara, Johnny Spence basová gitara, spev a Frank Farley bicie.Album skupiny OUT OF THEIR SKULLS bol v UK rebríčku tri týždne od 19. novembra 1977 a skončil na 57.m. Nasledujúce tri albumy a piesne na singloch však nemali úspech a v roku 1983 sa rozišli. Správne je konštatovanie bývalého basového gitaristu skupiny Briana Gregga bývalého člena skupiny Beat Boys, že pieseň SHAKIN´ALL OVER nahrala iná zostava.Boli to okrem neho spevák Johhny Kidd vl.m. Frederick Heath nar. 2. februara 1940 gitara a Clem Cattini vl.m. Clemente Anselmo Arturo Cattini nar. 28. augusta 1937 v Stoke Newington, Londýn bicie. V júli 1961 odišli hudobnici ku Colinovi Hicksovi ako sprievodná skupina The Cabin Boys a Caddy a Cattini sa stali neskôrčlenmi skupiny The Tornados.Nahradili ich bývalí členovia sprievodnej skupiny Cuddlyho Dudleyho The Redcaps Frank Farley bicie, Johnny Spence basová gitara a Johnny Patto gitara. V marci 1962 nahradil Patta Mick Green, ktorý tiež hral v The Redcaps a pre schopnosť hrať na gitare súčasne solo aj rytmus bol označovaný za anglickeho Jamesa Burtona.V apríli 1964 zostavu doplnil Vic Cooper organ.V júli 1964 odišiel Gren do skupiny Billyho Kramera The Dakotas a nahradil ho bývalý člen Family John Weider nar. 21. apríla 1947 v Londýne.V apríli 1966 Kidd opustil skupinu.Spence a Farley sa spojili s gitasristom Jonom Morsheadom. Kidd sa v máji 1966 spojil s členmi The Regents sprievodnej skupiny Buddyho Brittena a vytvoril skupinu New Pirates. Dňa 7. oktobra 1966 zomrel pri automobilovej nehode v Radcliffe pri Manchestri. Nehodu prežil Nick Simper basový gitarista, ktorý neskôr bol zakladajúcim členom skupiny Deep Purple.Alan Caddy zomrel 16. augusta 2000 v dôsledku nadmernej konzumácie alkoholu a Joe Morretti 9. februara 2012 na rakovinu plúc.
This is Reading 1978 ? Then somewhere in that crowd is me ! I still remember some of the bands over the three days; The Jam, Spirit, Status Quo, Ian Gillan, Gruppo Sportivo and Sham 69. I came here after watching Wilko, describing how he was influenced by Mick Green. Wilko is my absolute favourite rhythm player. Just superb.
strange u shud say that. Mick Green (the guitarist) played VEGAS on a regular stint back in the Seventies, backing and Eglish musician or singer called Englebert Humperdink (as names go, this one is a difficult one to pronounce) so I'm sure Mick woulda met Elvis at least once whilst there.
@@ichbin4122 he did meet him! They used to hang out lots. Elvis’s manager passed on a message to Tony Cartwright (pirates tour manager) saying that Elvis wanted dad for his band. The message was never given to my dad and we only found out about it a few years ago.
Shakin All Over was not recorded by this band,Clem Cattini,Brian Gregg Alan Caddy and Joe Morretti had the big hit with this in 1960.the Mick Green line up were much later 1962..
Mick Green v marci 1962 nahradil v skupine Johnnyho Patta.Green predtým hral v skupine The Redcaps sprievodnej skupine Cuddyho Dudleyho bol označovaný za britského Jamesa Burtona, pretože bol schopný súčasne hrať na gitare solo aj rytmus.V júli 1965 odišiel do skupiny Billy J. Krammer and The Dakotas. V zostave ho nahradil John Weider bývalý člen skupiny Family.
Joe Morretti was a very fine guitarist who could turn his hand to a variety of styles when he needed to.He was a subtly different player to Mick. Here,Mick shows what a raw ,exciting ,punchy rock ,n,roll player he is (was). If you are THE Brian Gregg then, hello, and you probably know more about it than i do.!
Mick Green is one of the greatest guitar heroes of all times.......
It was a great show. I was there. A few month's later I had the pleasure to see them

What a brilliant version!! Paul McCartney had Mick Green playing a n Run Devil Run - that says it all. It’s a great song, and this is a phenomenal version!! They should have been massive…

This is my first exposure to this band. All I can say is WOW!!!
You've got it bang on the button friend.I saw this band a number of times during the 70's and early eighties and they always gave 100%.The most fun I've ever had was at Pirates gigs and by a street they were the best band I ever saw live.
I wish i had been at that gig, blown away watching it, SUPERB!!!!!!

Are you me, lol.
Johnny Spence singing, Mick Green guitar and Frank Farley drums, RIP Mick
They knew how to rock. A dead art these days. Loved them was when I was 14 and love them still.
Mick Green was one hell of a guitar player.
Johnny would be proud.
Mick Green the best !
I had the good fortune to see Mick Green play. He was indeed a monster guitarist. A real eye and ear opener. He sure was good.
What to say, I rest my case. This is out of this World!
Love the Brit rockers!! What a great show... wish I was there right now
Great band, they used to play at HUGE volume. I went to this gig, and one at about the same time at the Marquee club in Wardour St... my ears are still ringing
I was at this gig. Fecking awesome!! Legendary performance and such an influential band.
So was I, that was a great festival! The Pirates, Patti Smith, The Jam, Sham 69, Radio Stars even Status Quo!
Me too. I was only 16. What an amazing experience.
Wish I had been there!
I'd gone to see the punk bands, and then these came on. Blew the festival away. I'd remembered this performance of this song for all these years, and had no idea it was on YT. Tonight, I'm a very happy man!

That's the way you do it boys and girls.
R.I.P. Mick Green, would have been 70 today.
+doubleotwentyone He had a killer guitar tone.
Thank you MICK!
I was fortunate to see these men in 1977 or 1978 on the bill at a punk gig, and they certainly delivered a great set.
My first live band in 1977 at keggy road tech, Derby, quickly followed by Sham69 (at the tech), The Clash, The Damned, The Jam and Buzzcocks at the King's Hall the same year. My goodness what a time to be a 15 year old lad.
Both! Two legends!

When you think of a rock festival. Don't think about hippies at Glastonbury, think of this. The Jam were next on the bill that night.
The sword fight is a nice bit of stuff.
A primeros de agosto de 1960 se encaramaba en el nº 1 de las listas británicas "Shakin´ All Over" de Johnny Kidd and the Pirates.
this is the New Pirates,it was the original Pirates that had the Massive hit with this song..
I'M OUT THERE SOMEWHERE
@bassman398 The guitar riff and solo were actually played by Joe Moretti. This line up with Green, Spence and Farley was the only one given the ok to use the name by JK .
rock and roll

I was at the festival that year, I remember it but I won't say I remember it like it was yesterday, I don't. Great times though
love it.
Really love this 🤘
Good stuff!

MITICO RIP
Одна из сильнейших групп в этом стиле
I guess we know who the single thumbs down belongs to, then...
Sounds like a five piece band, the boys were really going for it!
Супер!!!
fuck yeaaaahhh!!!
I'm hearing a little bit of a Lemmy-style to his vocals slightly.
Go listen in the next room with your eyes off the screen. Yes?
Not the same without Kidd. A pure tragedy he died in a wreck at the young age of 30 when he was just hitting his stride!
There would be no Wilco without Mick!... Just ask Wilco!..
If you shut your eyes you would think it's Lemmy.
bags of bones
