Wesley (James McAvoy) reaches his limit in the office and tells off his boss Janice (Lorna Scott) and friend Barry (Chris Pratt).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov helms his first English-language feature film with this big-screen adaptation of Mark Millar's action-packed graphic novel. Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is a cube-dwelling hypochondriac whose uneventful life has become a mundane blur of terminal boredom. Repeatedly humiliated by his boss and constantly cuckolded by his cheating girlfriend, weakling Wes seems to be living right down to everyone's expectations that he would never amount to anything in life. However, upon discovering that the father he never knew has been brutally murdered, the spineless, clock-punching pushover is recruited into a secret society of assassins known as the Fraternity. During the course of his training, the man who was once an office-bound wimp develops lightning-fast reflexes and superhuman dexterity courtesy of his skilled mentor Fox (Angelina Jolie). Upon completing his training, Wes is assigned the task of dealing out death to the mythological Fates, who possess the ability to alter the lifelines of mortal men. 1:33 McAvoy is so in character, he doesn't even look at the guy in front of him (anger clouds vision) and charges straight ahead....the extra had to improvise and step out of his way (This is legit, I read in an interview of the Director). The dude is such an underrated brilliant actor.
To be fair, after a powerful shout like that, I'd prefer to be out of arm's reach from the dude. Preferably quickly.

I like the comments section of this scene. So many little details that add up to make it memorable. Nice catch on him trying "walk off" his anger before confronting her. I have this in my movie collection and it's still one of my favorites with Angelina Jolie.
This rant scene was legendary from beginning to end. From the boosted confidence, the awkward reaction of his "friend" because of said confidence, his building rage when listening to his (former) boss, and even the smaller details, like how throwing the stapler hit the picture of his "friend" in the face, and ESPECIALLY how he hit him so hard, his keyboard (and one of his "friend's" teeth) spelled his thoughts out for the viewers to read.
1:25 onwards is the best part of this entire clip....Incredible acting by James McAvoy 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The woman that played Janice was also quite a good actress, I had the feeling I could see anger, sadness and relief at the same time in her expression.

He's kinda losing his accent now, nowadays he sounds more English than Scottish and his voice isn't that soft anymore, it's getting deeper and raspy. Constantly changing between Scottish English and American accents plus smoking will do that to you I guess, lol.

@Ralph probably can't illicit the same emotional reaction, especially such a visceral emotion like pent up rage. You can strain your face to get red and tense with veins showing, but can you can do that while showing a slowly building anxiety induced panicked rage with your facial expressions, cus that's the true seller here. Unfortunate the movie wasn't better considering the acting talent and interesting premise.

i went into the workforce shortly after the release of this movie and after a decade of working, rewatching that bit where McAvoy slowly berates his boss feels so relatable and yet satisfying. it's like a whole new experience of watching the film.
I have had bosses (especially female ones) who needed this guy to stand up to them just like this guy did!!! Bravo!

@BlackWatchAmbush the oscars are rigged. Not because Dicaprio didn't get one earlier or anyone else in particular. It's almost always the same kind of movies that gets nominated. It boils down to the preferences of these snobby film elitists that get to vote. You can have a perfect acting in a movie, however if the movie doesn't fit the criteria of what is considered high art by these people you don't stand a chance. That's is the definition of rigged.
PS: also, it would be safe to bet that there's a lot a money going on behind the scenes of the voting process. Hollywood isn't exactly a place of people with high morals. Don't forget one of the most prominent figures there was Harvey Weinstein. Let that sink in.
