Well, to be honest.....the hitman should have at least let him enjoy his last meal......I mean......come on now.
“Hamburgers ! The cornerstone of every nutritious breakfast” 😂😂😂
When I was a wee lady, my dad would take me to a diner in our small town and instead of getting eggs, pancakes, bacon, cereal, for breakfast I would order hamburgers and french fries. The 1st time he looked at me in shock and repeated what I said and then asked if he had heard me right, cause it was BREAKFAST. I confirmed that he had heard correctly and he goes- "you're a weird kid", truer words were never spoken.

Regardless of Jackson's performance here (which is brilliant), Brett's expression and body language completely sells the utter hopelessness he's feeling. Truly impeccable acting!
Yes, Brett's acting was superb. I don't remember seeing that guy in an other movies or TV shows, but I'm sure he was.
The actor who played Brett--Frank Whaley--is an amazing actor with an astonishing range. He was a favorite actor for Oliver Stone and played an Oswald look-alike agent in the great film JFK. Frankie makes everything he appears in better. He's that good.
What ? ..
@@trevorjameson3213 he did an episode of Dr. House, he gets mugged and loses his memory, it was a brilliant performance of him ,idk why he's not on more shows ,he's really good
@@diogenes. No, I don't think that's it. Istn he the guy who mirrors everyone's personality? Don't remember if he was mugged, though.
I love how he establishes dominance by eating Brett's breakfast.
I thought the scene where he drank all of his sprite showed who was in control.
@@tonyleverett6917 It showed Brett that he didn't need his drink anymore, which is some cold shit.
The pair of them dominated straight from their entrance. Those poor out-of-their-depth young 'uns knew right from the off who had sent them and therefore the amount of trouble they were in. Nevertheless, the bits off which you speak were very good in further establishing it in the most bully-boy fashion.
He shows dominance by calling them KIDS as soon as he walks in.
@@raalaa121 He shows dominance by carrying a big visible gun, but why nitpick? And he also kills them all, which calls into question just how evil he is to carry on such a dominating conversation with dead people. Basically, needing to know where the briefcase is was just an excuse for starting the dialogue to even make sense.
Samuel L Jackson is the man.
More funnyer if you add some of the words on him in star wars

What?
@@cinamonfire Exactly
Amen!
Hands down the biggest Oscar snub in history.
.No joke. How he never got an Oscar for this scene alone is beyond me. We're now what, 30 years later and virtually everyone everywhere knows this movie.
That was the most competitive year in Oscar history. Bad timing really
Tied with Dwight Yokum not getting one for his role in Slingblade
5:40 the foreshadowing was crazy 😭😭😭😭😭
You guys do realize Shawshank came out the same year, right?
Fun fact: The black guy by the door is played Phil LaMarr, who is one of THE greatest voice actors of all time. The dude has been in EVERYTHING. Probably his most famous role is Samurai Jack himself.
Phil that goat. He’s been the voice of like everyone!
Another funfact: Mr What, sitting in the chair, Big Brain Brett, is Frank Whaley. He's also been in many other films, like Oliver Stone's The Doors, playing as Robbie Krieger, The Door's guitarist.
He was also in Mad tv on Fox
Phil LaMarr is truly outstanding!
Vamp in MGS
Samuel Jackson should have won an Oscar for that performance.
One of the best movies ever made.
Inglorious Basterds was far better. Pulp Fiction didn't really have any story behind it, except for the story of two low rent hitmen trying to make a living.
Definitely a good film, but little to nothing about it was worthy of any prize... Especialy not Samuel Jackson.
@@shoelacedonkey please, that was some of the best acting you will ever see.
@@shoelacedonkey Storylines are important, but non-linear storytelling can be good on its own and also maybe consider how groundbreaking this style was
Still think Shawshank should've got the best picture over Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction
Ironically, the role of Jules was initially offered to Laurence Fishburne. But Laurence turned it down for several reasons, including the size of the role and the film's subject matter. So, Samuel L. Jackson was lucky to get the part and it was a game changer for his career. Laurence wasn't overly regretful about his decision. Laurence went on, of course, to play Morpheus in The Matrix series, which was a career changer for him too.
The art of domination in a conversation, with out saying anything of substance.
It’s what he doesn’t say,
is what’s so brilliant.
also the art of pointing a gun at someone's head but yknow

@@victorpertel well, he probably should have said "what" a few more times to just get it over with...then again, had he done that, we would have not been privy to a great cinematic moment......LOL!
What?
@pidialski beat me to that point. I know it's a movie with cold-blooded killers, but violence is also an unfortunate reality.
Samuel L. Jackson's talent is obvious and often enough mentioned. But I'd like to highlight the acting of Brett here: His voice, his facial expressions, his body language. He delivers the desperation und fear so good! Both of them showed excellent acting which makes this scene a fantastic peace of art.

I love how Jules stares down Brett as he drains every last bit of his Sprite. "You won't be needing this anymore."
All I know is that if I drank that much Sprite (or any soft beverage) at once, my throat would be stinging from it and I'd have to burp soon afterwards.

Look how Vincent takes out his gun right after Jules starts reciting the verse, probably has heard that verse way too many times that it became like some sort of trigger in his mind to start blasting right after Jules finished it. Nice detail right there.
even a bit before, as soon as Jules asks "Do you read the Bible?" Vincent starts moving to put out his cigarette
The funny thing is that literally only about 3 words of what he says are ACTUALLY in Ezekiel 25 and the vast majority of the speech is something totally made up for the movie. LOL!
Jules says later on in the final scene that it was just a line he'd utter before blowing someone away, so yeah Vincent would've known what was coming having heard it before from previous experience.
A little side note, you have to give it to Travolta. Also, he knows when to step back and let another actor have the spotlight for a scene. Of course he has his own stellar scenes later in the movie.
This is possibly the best lines of dialogue in cinema history
6:13 Vincent getting his gun ready was a nice hint to show that Jules indeed loves to play his bible verse first before popping a person's head (as he told Ringo in the last scene). That's why Vincent gets his gun ready, coz he knows what comes after the speech.
One of the best movie scenes in history. Wouldn't, couldn't change a thing. No notes. Perfect writing, acting, everything.
