Deer Hunting Last Weekend in D7 Ca [deer camp 2023]

- Last weekend of rifle season in D7 (Central Valley, Ca). Camped at a very nice campsite with great campfire both nights so besides hunting, I also enjoyed the camping experience :)
Came upon a pack of dogs the weekend before which chased a small but legal buck right in front of me.
Hiked most of the time, didn't see anything besides one doe. Lots of deer trails, and deer signs, so this is definitely a good area and will be worth it hunting it next year, including during archery.
It's never a loss, but always a learning experience.

Well another deer season has passed wasn't really good in my area seen a few bucks at bow season but not got a shot. I just finished watching your video one tip I have starting campfires I use pinecones they burn fast to get your fire going well thanks for the video and take care.

I noticed this season was very happening for most people. I didn't see as many postings in the local groups on fb (D7, or D8 or even the other ones)
I would have thought this season would have been great, with all the water still flowing everywhere from the winter storms. Usually everything is dry, never a drop of water on the ground or from the sky.
We even had rain during archery and then during rifle. Had cold weather moving in.

Maria , I love your new camp setup. And what a great idea OnX I'm trying next year. If u hunt the rut in Cali try rattling it's worked for me !
Thank you! In California we can't hunt the rut, season always ends before, unless you get a specialty zone (draw zones)
