- A few days after we weaned this years’ foals, we decided that they were calm enough to go out to the pasture all together! Enjoy watching as they run and play for the first time!

I think Penelope was a big help during Petey’s weaning because he’s always been her little shadow anyways, which I was so thankful for, the thought of that sweet little guy hurting would of just ripped my heart out ❤. He was clacking to her as soon as they were shut in together - smart move Petey😂
I buy a farmer almanac EVERY year and use for gardening and to keep track of the weather! It’s 80% accurate they say but it’s more accurate than 80% usually at least in my experience. My grandparents used it with livestock, gardening etc and swore by it and now I use it. I recommend it to everyone I possibly can. If y’all wanna know what the weather will be like or to use like Katie for livestock I highly recommend you get it.
They are doing so well. I'm so proud of them, being so brave. Poor Phin didn't understand what was happening and wasn't sure he wanted to go thru that gate. They are so sweet! ❤

I really have learned so much about foals since becoming a subscriber back in February. It was my dream growing up to have horse. Well I never had the babies, I did have horses. Thank you for sharing your babies.
My pediatrician used the Farmer's almanac for weaning babies as well. It's when the moon is in the sign of the knees, they won't get sick and it goes a lot smoother 😀
Believe in it so much you still use ulcer guard?
I definitely trust the good ol' farmers almanac too it's steered me wrong MAYBE 1 time lol. They're beautiful and sweet little things I need one.

Great pasture time for the kids, I always had single foals so they had to attach themselves to one of my other horses, when weaned, so it was nice to see the siblings enjoy each other.

❤Loved this video! Them babies have really gotten used to the pasture! Your weening isnt bad. Its natural. People has been doing it that was for years. Its never caused life threatening problems back then. Yeah they get a little stressed out. But they are good now.

I love how all the people who were going crazy over you weaning cold turkey are nowhere to be found. At my barn we also weaned them cold turkey and they were a little hectic for few days but now they are so good and behaved. So all this stuff about traumatizing them is bullcrap. We have to stop treating them like babies and start treating them like horses at some point right?

Yes. Phin is so much different having both Penelope and Petey around to help Phin figure things out. I was also a little concerned about Phin when he had that big Hissy fit even though Momma was very close by

Use the almanac for all kinds of things. If you castrate animals do it when the signs are in the ground or below to the feet. Bc if you do it when it's in the head they to the stomach they bleed a Lot more.
