Just saw this on my feed… I just picked one of these up as a used model. 2018 TLX A-Spec with the Technology package. It had 65000 on it when I got it. I’m very happy so far. Fun car to drive V6 has a nice rumble to it. And the stereo is amazing.

I went to test drive a new A-Spec and these are my impressions:
Impressive suspension, makes the car feel tight but still soaks up large bumps and imperfections very well.
Seats were supremely comfortable. I only had it for 40 minutes, so my opinion might change on a long roadtrip.
I couldn't tell a difference between 'sport' and 'sport+'. In my opinion just having 'sport' would have been sufficient. It's probably a marketing thing. Sport+ compared to normal offered a marginally more responsive throttle and more of what I believe to be emulated engine sound.
The wireless charging pad quickly charged my passenger's Nexus 6 to full capacity. The Apple Carplay function looked excellent, with crisp icons and visuals. Unfortunately controlling it with the rotary dial was very unintuitive (borderline distracting). I'm not sure why they didn't choose to have Carplay on the touch screen. I didn't get an opportunity to test Android Auto, so no thoughts on that.
I did not like the location of the mode change button which is next to the transmission push buttons. Though it felt different I could still see someone absentmindedly going for neutral instead of switching drive modes in-flight.
The turning circle was ENORMOUS compared to other cars I've owned and test-driven. I tried to turn around a cul-de-sac and it turned into a frustrating 5-point turn experience which was not helped by the push button transmission. My passenger commented that '[They] would not buy this car just because the turning circle sucks'.
The rear camera gave a very poor idea of proximity. The camera showed inches from running over a fence when parking back at the dealership. A glance out the window told me I had ~4 feet. This car ostensibly has 'surround' cameras which I couldn't figure out how to activate. It might have been hidden in a menu that I didn't find. There are also no parking sensors, which I've found to be helpful even with a camera.
On the Acura TL and older MDX the ELS system was a definite high point. The system in the TLX that I tried sounded bland and muffled compared to how I remember those sounding. It also didn't hold a candle to my Bang & Olufson system in my S4, but that's perhaps an unfair comparison.
The air-conditioned seats didn't seem to do anything over the time I drove it. Compared to the RX350 I recently drove (which I would rate as 'good') this feature was lacking. The cabin air conditioning itself was mediocre. It didn't help that it was almost 100 degrees the day I went to test it, but it definitely couldn't keep up.
As far as driving impression, I would say it's very bland. It felt like the last time I drove an Accord. This makes sense as the TLX is based on an older Accord platform but I guess I expected more.
These things might come across as nit-picky. But as others have said before, once you get past the 40k range of cars in 2017 you're not impressed that the transmission 'shifts smoothly' and the engine feels nice. You expect those things on even the most basic cars and when something doesn't feel nicely screwed together it's an outlier.

We try to cover all the trims in each review, but here are a few of the Advance model highlights: unique 18-inch alloys, surround view (360-degree) camera, heated and vented front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, remote start and auto-dimming outside mirrors. Hope that helps :)

A friend of mine just bought this car 2018 TLX. Where is the digital read-out for the mileage gauge? I don't think it has one. Apparently it shows a little bit of one, but only on cruise control. PS it might be the 2019. I didn't ask. But I assume the newest one out must be the '19.

      @HalfBreedMix Před 7 lety

+Brian Garrison If we were talking about the Q50 BEFORE it went turbo, I'd would have said go with the Q50. Now since Infiniti is forcing you to go F/I, I'd say the Acura's NA V6 is a better bet for longevity and resale value. This TLX just isn't doing it for me (especially when they plaster huge A-Spec badges everywhere, yet the car is no faster). Honda/Acura had a winner with the 3rd gen TL Type-S; this TLX A-Spec looks like they are trying too hard to make a conservative car sporty (if it had more "go", then this styling might work). Oh, and that front badge, I mean come the F'ck on !

Why isn't anyone showing the base and advance models. I'm one of those people who prefer elegance over sporty. It looks nice though. However, what I would like to see from Acura is a new ZDX or ZDX successor. They dropped that model because people weren't warmed up to a car/suv but look at BMW and Merc, now everyone loves X6, X4 and GL coupes.

I'm the same way. I like to get the most luxurious model then make a few invisible performance upgrades (like cold air intake, performance exhaust, and engine tuning). The only appearance mod I would do would be window tint and perhaps a ceramic coating and/or some Expel or 3M film on the front and lower quarters.
Many people hate on Acuras, but the TLX offers great bang-for-the-buck value. I currently have a 2003 TL-S in pearl white with ebony/ash interior. It's been the best car I've ever owned (reliable, luxurious, comfortable, fast, and fun to drive).

It definitely needs more power. The top spec Camry with V6 gets 300 hp....and it's fast to 60. Acura needs to beef this car up. They must also get rid of those stupid button gear selectors. HATE THEM! Lastly, why on earth are the rear turn signals still not L.E.D? It's such a dumb omission. The new Honda CRV has full L.E.D. taillights yet this doesn't.

EnRich I would buy one as well, but Acura knows their buyers well. A manual would sell less than or equal to 1% I am hoping for manual type S or R however

derrick t don't get me wrong I like our gen TL, love the stiff suspension, better than average steering and the torque vectoring, nice feeling coming out of a corner full throttle. Mine is black on black tech.
I am interested in this A-Spec because it might fix the problems I had with TLX in the first place, it was way too soft didn't corner good at all, steering was really numb, came with some skinny tires and mostly hated one thing that I'm sure this one will have as well, which is rev hang!!! That's the most annoying thing on modern cars now.
And don't worry, no test dummies for this car, it's a refresh. All the mechanics are the same, this is a 4 year old platform, if anything people that drove it said that even the transmission programing is way better now.
I don't know about you, but this car in blue reminds me 3rd gen TL type S which I loved.

Weakest part of Acura is their interior the dash look cheap and uninteresting how the new accord interior dash look classier

The infotainment is fine. With Android Auto and Apple Car play you are using the latest tech. The top screen quality is actually rather good. Also it's nice not to have an out of place tablet sticking up. The fit and finish around center console is better than the Accord. The seats in the tech and up are rather nice with the stitching and piping. Definitely see a fit a and finish difference.

The interior of this car is such a turn off when you compare it to an Accord for example.
