It's time to flush the nasties! In this episode, we build and install our DIY first flush system for our shipping container home roof. This system will help pre-filter the rainwater before it enters our tanks. Also, Papa Donkey comes by to check on the progress of the house... - Zábava
Please don’t change anything about your videos! They are well made and edited. Music, as in many YT vids, is not overwhelming, especially for me being hard of hearing.
It is a pleasure to see you 2 work together and have so much fun that you can pass on to us who watch!
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Rod
Hello from Portugal!
I spent 3 nights watching that entire saga of yours and getting myself more and more in love with it! I've watched you guys grow with it, looking more in harmony with each other, happier, healthier, exhaling peace and love for the path chosen.
I really really really wish you the best of good fortunes in life! You deserve it all!
Stay strong, support each other and keep on doing what you're doing, it's a thing of beauty and of love! The world need more of that!
What a lovely couple and they really enjoy what they are doing. She is a doll and has a wonderful sense of humor. Love them both.
I love watching your progress! I wish you nothing but joy and peace in your home!
Assemble as much of the pipe run as possible on the ground and then lower into the ditch.
The only priming/gluing in the ditch is at each end.
Saves sooooo much time and hassle.
Don't need primer it's new pipe and it's not under pressure I have irrigation systems that I've installed over 20 years ago they're still holding up perfect without primer
Risers go in last. Fitting up is always easier that way.
I hope they know an electrician personally lol
@@edward88yahoo new or old pipe is irrelevant . prime cleans and enhnces the bond. the fact that you didn't use it shows that you didn't know what you were doing. the fact it's still holding is pure luck.
I just love you two, having so much fun watching you both working so hard, but yet still some laughter and hand holding and smiles, tis a wonderful journey you two are on, thank you for bringing us along with you!!!
Been watching you guys from the beginning. The two of are so beautiful together. I wish that all couples could be as harmonious and insync as you 2 are!!!! God Bless you both.
I appreciate the drive and dedication you two have on this project. There's hope for the world after all....
the home is really coming together!! you guys work together fantastic!! Where did you guys gain so much knowledge on off grid building?? and your building skills?? Spencer never stops amazing us with his skills.
Measure Twice Cut Once. I could not resist. You all do a great job and I enjoy the fact that a lot of what you show is trial and error!
Good work , your both so engaged in your work that it's fun to watch you two be human and entertaining. Your husband is so handsome and down to earth. Mr. daddy donkey is so cute too, your dog is so patient just wanting a bit of attention. Very much a fan from Minneapolis, MN. Thanks for the great project, it looks beautiful so far.
Pro tip: for long runs of pipe in trenches it is much easier/faster/better to assemble them beside the trench and then drop it in, that way you only have to do a couple glues in the trench.
Right? Would have also been easier if they did all the pipe in the trench first.
Rehoboth Farm whether they do it through a long process doesn’t matter, of course if there’s an easy alternative then great but either way, they’re amateurs and they’ll either complete it in a week or a day but they’ll complete it. I think what they’re doing is so inspirational.
I always wondered how you keep your sense of humor? I think it is Bear and Papa Donkey 😂 They crack me up! Love you kids and am so proud of you! Xoxo
I just want to tell you that it is such a pleasure watching you two making your videos. There are so many of these idiots that get a couple chickens a goat or two and tell everyone how to farm but if you call them on any of their practices they get totally bent out of shape and make outrageous threats about blocking you and you dont have any knowledge about it. Well i had the farm that raised hundreds of cows and goats and bailing hay planting acres of corn wheat soybeans and I am not totally stupid. Threaten if they wish i wasnt going to watch him any more anyway. I love you calm people that just have fun and dont try to make the world think you are geniuses. Thanks so much for such a clean channel..love you both you are so lucky to have each other. Oops i mean all 3 of you. I love Bear and all the other animals as well.............you are so sweet!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yea, have never missed a video, they're great....
It looks fantastic guys. Don't worry, plumbing very rarely fits the first time. I can't wait to see how much water you can capture off of your roof.
Thanks for sharing your build with us, waiting with great expectation for your next video,
Jimmy
Playing Plumber is fun, now you know what I did for 35 years. Looks good I take hat off too you for a job well done.
Love your videos keep up the great job your doing.
Pappa ❤️’s you guys. You’re loving and loveable so why wouldn’t he keep coming around. The treats are just a bonus. 😎👍👏
I'd be running a power cable in that trench to the tanks for pump power/ night light if required. Even just to have a power outlet.... maybe handy down the road.
At least putting in the conduit gives the option of adding these things later with much less effort. A 1" PVC conduit run would give plenty of room for a couple of circuits using 12/2 wire at 15 amps. (go one wire gauge heavier to reduce voltage drop.)
You young people are very inspiring. I love that you guys don't mind taking risks and venturing out on what you dream of having. You are my inspiration! Keep growing keep learning! You got this!
She just a happy woman with giggles cute laugh ,support her husband with every thing.Love to watch your video 💪👍
The ball valve is a nice touch but you might consider adding a conventional y style cleanout 8 - 10 inches above the valve since it is a reduction. If persistent debris start to clog the valve you can take a hose and spray it out.
Reading all comments from around the world you have a great following. You must be doing something right.
Great Job
I busted out with laughter on your trench tools! Reminded me of my ingenuity! Make do with what you have. Thanks for all the hard work and sharing.
Really happy to see you interact with Donkey. I hope you don't have too many problems with your rain water catchment system.
I totally love what you two are doing but I won’t lie Bear is the real reason I watch!!❤️
Followed this since day 1 ! You guys will have to build extensions...this can never end!
Not only are you guys doing great and provide knowledge and laughs your choice of cover music is great
I agree i love the music and it fits so well with whats going on
Looks like you gonna have a really nice rain water catchment system once you are finished!!! Cool 😎 guys! 👍
Its all coming together... my wife and I watch each new episode... and we always say, ‘how can they work outside with no sunglasses on?’ We live in Dallas and just cant fathom being out in our TX sun without sunglasses!
Love the channel!
Mackenzie you are a natural in front of the camera.
Texas should make you their spokesperson for the tourism dept!!!
I’ve run my fair share of PVC pipe over the years and I can confidently say you guys did great. There’s always the chance of mismeasurement due to fittings, imperfect pipe cuts, etc. I also loved that you painted the exposed sections of pipe and wish there had been an explanation for that so viewers would know that the sun will degrade PVC over time without adequate protection. PVC is made to be out of the sun either in walls, under a house or underground. Painting sun exposed pipe is definitely a must.
Great job you two! You must have a very strong sense of accomplishment❤
Amazing to think you both have no prior experience at any of this. Well done, you should be so proud fantastic.
I really enjoy seeing how your little home is progressing and bear ohh now yr adorable donkey too...great work your an insperation too everyone
Back in 08 we redid underground pipe at family farm. The water was just above tile drain for kitchen. Dad recalled my grandfather dug it in by hand in 30s. It was no less than 6 ft deep and closer to 8 as I recall. At one time the house also had a stone masonry cistern on the other side with hand pump. That was around 12 ft deep and 4 ft diameter. Given a large enough source a stone masonry tank is a great source of usable water. Stone being much cheaper from the pile 100 yards from the house and bags of dry cement for mortar rather than cement being hauled in and poured. The barn had a 6' tall 10-12' diameter tank in the mow.
I love your videos. There's some other channels that have couples building stuff, but they come off as reality shows. You guys don't try to act or any of that other silliness. You have fun, but it's real, and not ridiculously over staged. I love the stuff you guys build and how you explain.
I just love that donkey! Another great video. Thanks for sharing!
I don't know how you do it, guys- BUT you succeed in making even draining systems interesting enough to watch for a quatre of an hour,.. and time flies! You can do magic- ...not to forget your two absolutely gorgeous assistants Bear and Papa Donkey, much Love from Germany, Marina 🐕🐎😉👍
I think you guys are amazing....so skilled, calm, and so much careful attention to detail. ! 🌲🌲🌳 -Harry
Great job guys!!! Love Bear and your donkey. So darn cute. You’ve gotten a lot accomplished. Way to go.
YAY!!!!! Donkey!!!! Your videos are never long enough!
Woooo. Best part of my day is watching your video.
Me too!
Same here!
Me too
Good job you two. When I get my homestead in N. Idaho I want a donkey. I have always wanted one
Your house is sure coming on now it's getting to look great going off grid and recycling it takes some doing some work specially 2 containers and all the work by yourself wow I praise you guys well done
You should have a good filter system . It,s amazing how much ecoli gets into the system from bird droppings. But you also must keep water collection systems separate. Well for cooking, laundry and showering.
I Loved seeing you feed bread to Papa Donkey, Bear Bear, and the fishies! Beautiful work on your rain catchment system.
Looks good to me. Looking forward to seeing you finish the interior.
That’s awesome and so anxious to see how the inside of your home is gonna look .... longer videos please 😊
You two are so cute! Making mistakes is part of normal life. Be glad when you have water.
Lots of progress. I am looking forward to seeing it work. Another great lesson in off grid building. Thanks
Cool vid guys!! Been a fan since the 10,000 sub mark ! Love all the progress y'all have made !! Kudos to both of you and the star of the channel of course, Bear 🤣🤣🤣
You too are amazing. I love seeing your progress. Cant wait for you guys to enjoy your house.
Becoming quite the ‘little Kubric”
Your videos are VERY AWESOME to watch... informative and somehow RELAXING!! (WITH ALL THE WORK BEING DONE)
AWESOME JOB GUYS1!!!
As a viewer watching you both makes some of us want to help ... especially as this season ends and the next begins... much respect
That's a smart gutter design. I like the value to release any dirt. Very smart design. I have never thought of that.
You guys make a prefect couple i just love you guys energy.. I be over there tomorrow to help with the drywall lol
I cant wait to see you move to your house. It is so nice to see your progress. And great videos! Always happy to see a new one.
Brilliant idea to use the auger to help dig those trenches! Can't wait for the next video!
Its really FUNNY Usually when I search for a video on my phone to comment because I can't do it on my T.V. I have to put in the exact wording but on this video all I had to put in was the FLUSHING THE NASTIES and it popped right up .
I think that's Hilarious ..
I love your videos , you guys are GREAT having a beautiful wife with a hilarious sense of humor is a big plus . I'm very proud of you both for what you're doing . It takes a lot of HARD WORK building doing what you're doing .
Thank you for sharing your life stories .
Please keep the videos coming ...
Having a tank closer to the house and draining strait to the tank then equalizing to the others will work. I'm glad I found your build I'm planning mine very similar
I admit it. I binged on all the videos and now addicted GIVE ME. GIVE ME. I NEED!!!!!
This is so exciting, I love as things are coming along, I'm sorry that it's been a pain at times, but you both have made your way through it all. It's exciting to see as things are progressing. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to your next video.
Coming along great, guys! Can't wait for it to be finished. Such a contrast between your gorgeous, well-built house and the falling down dock. Be great when all you have to finish is the fence and the dock, but how will we get our fix then? You'll need to sell and start another one. lol Come build in Mexico. No torrential day after day rain. No humidity. Gorgeous climate every day of the year. Hardly any bugs or snakes. Fabulous locals and culture. You would love it.
Major accomplishment! Trenching sucks! But all your hard work is paying off big time!😊🐴
Your attention to detail is so impressive!
Oh the joys of plumbing! As I have learn in many of these, the order you assembly the pipe parts can be very important. You have to visualize in your head how it will all work step by step. Angles can be fun stuff with this too. In hind sight the 90 degree elbow on the output of the diverter should have not been glued on the the assembly hooked to the house. This should have been left until you had the pipe in the ground and the vertical in place then you could cut it off and glue the elbow in place. I wish you well in thinking through future plumbing projects!
make life-uncontained thumb blue many times for making this awesome drain system that gets the nasties away. pretty clever catch system.
So love watching you two. Way to go! awesome awesome work, down right to your guys filming and editing. Best wishes and thanks for sharing with the world.
Great Job. Maybe install a Y fitting in the pipe before it goes in the ground in case you need to run a snake in it for clean out. Put a Y fitting with a twist of cap. Just a thought. REAL NEAT JOB, LOOKING GREAT‼️👍👍 Vinny 🇺🇸
Really good idea...i just had to pay the plumber to clear a clog...cha ching
You two have a real nice place. I love it.it looks so quite and peaceful.
You guys are at the top of my watch list. It's been a blast watching you get this far. PaPa donkey is the man! btw just became a Patreon.
Looking forward to the first rain. Want to see how much accumulation you get.
Once I found you guys I knew Id be following you for the long haul. Watching your videos is literally like spending time hanging out with you both and your amazing doggo. Its so relaxing and I leave feeling good inside. So thank you.

I love you guys.. i know it must be difficult sometimes but you guys are doing great work and should be proud of all you accomplished!! Cant wait to see more...thanks for including us in your fantastic adventures!
It's been nice to follow you through the good & bad days! We all know that we make mistakes but it's how you guys fix them with humor and love that makes us enjoy watching your videos! Great job!
Spencer, your a lucky man. Your wife's attitude is UN heard of in the normal world. I watch because she is beautiful and has such a great attitude in this positively awesome endeavor you both are creating. Again..... You are a lucky man!!
It's coming out awesome. You guys really took your time and the results are showing. Congratulations!
I have to said i love every video u guys put in every weekend ....and don't worry u guy's got this !!!! Thanks for posting....👍👍👍👍👍
You guys are the cutest, but I really love Bear 😍
That dog needs his own channel. Live stream it . Golden opp
I worry about the blue green algae in their lake, it could make Bear sick.
Nice job. I think that, in the end, you will be much happier with the height of the valve at the back of the house.
I look forward to your videos every week. An absolute inspiration!
Beautiful home, glad to see it completely done soon. Keep up with the great videos
With the amount of flow coming down that pipe, you could install a micro hydro turbine in that before the water hits the ground pipe- might be an interesting projecto to add to the solar ( and maybe wind ? )
Sir you are a blessed man to have such a lovely wife with a voice of heaven she surly is a keeper
I agree they are well suited for one another my favorite couple on CZcams for sure. There should be a way to vote for our favorite candidates for wholesome videos such as theirs
I agree
Nice work, you two. Love watching your progress.
You two are my inspiration... I am building my fireplace kitchen next to my main house... still in process...
You are doing great work guys! It’s all going to pay off huge, just keep at it. We believe in you two!

Love your video's, your doing a great job...!! Just keep moving forward you will get there..!!
I have been collecting and treating rain water for years, I would like to make some suggestion (just in case they are not already in your plans).
1. Since you have three 2500 gal. tanks use one for a settling tank. I always run raw water to my first tank, then fill the rest from about mid level of the first tank.
2. I have a pre-filter and 55 gal settling tank before any of my main tanks (even the 2500 gal. settling tank). This pre-filter is a 100 micron aquarium filter sock on the inlet to the 55 gal tank. (get one of these socks and run your rain water though it just once and you will never collect water without having one in the system). These socks are a bit of a headache because the get dirty real fast if it has not rained for a while and I have been out in the rain changing them more than once. As far as the 55 gal. tank goes, one use and even with the filter sock it collects a lot of silt.
3. If it's more than a day drain and clean the trash removal system.
4. I use a slow sand filter for my rain water, lot of information online.
5. I also have a 30 gal activated charcoal filter to remove farm chemicals from my water (that dust you see in the 100 micro filter sock was once in a farm field and you don't want to call one of those late night TV lawyers because you have non Hodgkin's lymphoma)
Love the donkey!
