Not gonna lie at the beginning I was skeptical about them. I was like no heck in the world a couple with no experience and a baby can do that but watching all the episodes I started to see how much hard work, effort and love they put into this project. That passion, that willingness is what I want for my life. I can’t wait to see what this mighty couple will do with this two containers 😍.

I've been watching your channel for a several months now. Your doing a superb job on the build ! For the deck cleaning..... 1 cup of Chlorox bleach to a gallon of water, either in a bucket and mop it, or a sprayer. If you take the time to look up the MSDS on the deck cleaner, you will find it's one cup of bleach to a gallon of water. You'll see the mold and mildew disappear, put enough on for the boards to soak it in..... it will kill the bacteria causing the stains.
In the future builds, stain and seal the top and bottom of the boards prior to cut and fasten, the wood will rot from the bottom up, and you won't see it until you put your foot through it.
I've made a living replacing entire decks, that taking shortcuts caused. You only want to build it once.
Thank you for sharing your experiences on CZcams with the rest of us.

First off I love the content! I have binged everything you guys have put up! Thank you for sharing your story with us.
From 20 years experience as a Medic in the military EMT/IDMT both combat and non- combat I can tell you one very important fact. You can't be over prepared for an emergency. Prepare for the worst and you will be ready for the rest!
To add on to what @Scott Foy says below you guys might want to look at investing in some serious first aid gear and a decent first aid book. I don't know how far out you live but it is always advisable to have something on hand on a construction site / homestead that is a bit more robust than some bandaids and benadryl. The longer the response time for EMS the more robust the kit and information you need, especially with the little one, your dog and the wildlife that you have in the area. Just something to think about. MOST IMPORTANT! Get an epipen and a decent tourniquet and know where they are even if you don't get anything else! Accidents happen, especially around power tools and snakes/insects.
Here are some links to get you started. These are only examples to get you thinking in the right direction, there are much better resources available. I would also order a good first aid book and glance over it to become familiar with it before you need it. If you are prepared you are far less likely to panic in an emergency.
    For you:
How to choose a first aid kit,
    www.redcross.org/get-help/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies/anatomy-of-a-first-aid-kit.html
    www.safewise.com/blog/choose-pre-made-first-aid-kit/
For Beau: (Pay special attention to the medication doses, pedialyte and small equipment like the bulb syringe, and a syringe for giving the liquid medications.)
    childrensmd.org/browse-by-age-group/toddler-pre-school/build-essential-parent-first-aid-kit/
For Bear: (For the most part you can use the Human first aid supplies, but I would get a book like the one in the kit in the second link.)
    www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/dog-first-aid-kit-essentials/
    www.outdoorsafety.net/dog-first-aid-kits/pro-model-1000
Thanks again for the content, I hope this helps in some small way.

      @DLRyoung Před 4 lety +9

Very informative! I was thinking Benadryl when his lip was fat, but he said it was still going, must be careful with airways. Definitely needs an epipen, here in Australia everything tries to kill you, they suggest compression bandages for snakebites. Not sure if you know this but snakes here are some of the deadliest. I know for a fact in Texas, there are copperheads, water moccasins, rattlesnakes. Even scorpions. Thanks for sharing your information.

I have watched this project from the cutting out of the inside walls and have totally enjoyed every moment.
Today I watched the deck railing and trim happen.
I have often wondered why you did the center section as tall and awkward looking as you did.
But today I saw a quick view of the front of a house with the living room addition and it has so balanced out that awkwardness the center section had.
The whole building looks so much nicer now !
Not so much like an off grid nightmare with shipping containers.
Also to add to why you are working on the outside before the inside, Weather !
You have to do the outside while the weather permits.
Once the building is closed in you are not so subjected to the often goofy weather you get in Texas.
I live in the middle of Kansas so I know what the central US weather is like.
You folks will have a really nice home when it's ready to live in.
I will enjoy the videos untill the end.
Kenz you are a hoot !
Spens is a trooper for putting up with some of your wonderful silliness, Don't ever stop !

    Dear Spencer,
I really hope that you will see my comment and or that Makenzie will fill you in LOL ( I love that girl)
anyway I am so impressed with every single step you have taken on building your home......you occasionally have made comments about not really knowing what you're doing, but when I see the end results of every single thing you have done it always truly looks like it was completed by a professional
I just wanted to reach out and blow up your ego a little bit lol because you truly have earned it, I know you have a ways to go before your home is completed but it already looks amazing, I cannot wait to see the finished home, then again I dont want your build to end it has been an amazing journey thus far, and really I just wanted to say you should be proud of yourself.......job well done !!!!"_
Mackenzie, I cannot leave you out, I see that camera time with Beau is limited I admire and respect that, but it still shows through what a great mommy you are, it is clear you truly love Spencer and appreciate everything he does for your family, while being one of the best moms ever.......thank you for everything you share on CZcams, I am sorry if I have said this before but your channel just feels like home to me and I always look so forward to the next video.......Hugs

We love to watch your channel. You two are doing a great job not only with the building but also with the video. Very relaxing to watch your "show" with our little kids. Spencer you should think of other projects after this is done so that you two (no three) can keep on making videos for us. Great work and God's blessings on the three of you. Dear uncontained family, I was watching now nearly all of your episodes and must say, that I'm really, really impressed. Impressed by the skills you both have (ok, Spencer is a bit better in woodworking and plumbing), impressed by the progress your are making, impressed by the patience, detail loving and great ideas you have, and also deeply impressed by all your nice video episodes including cut, music and camera. I'm not in an age where I would start such a project (bit over 50), but you can be a very bright and nice inspiration for other young people and families which are dreaming about an own - and not very standardized - house. I really like your drive, your efforts and your vision. I'm wishing you a lot of funny moments (please share with us in your videos), joy, happiness, enthusiasm, optimistic drive, bright moments, sun, fun and love. You are an incredibly cute family (yes, including Bear) and I literally love you. Please stay safe and make us happy again and again and again. God bless you. Wishing you all the best from Slovakia (heart of Europe). ♥♥♥

We have a log house with cedar posts that had turned gray in areas. The log guys told us to use bleach and water to wash onto the wood then let it sit for about 20 minutes then use a sprayer or hose to wash it off. Some areas we used a scrub brush. It worked great. Does your power washer have a fan nozzle attachment? I think it would work better that way. It all looks great.

I have a project house that I've been working on for over two years now. In the beginning I had to deal with some mold on two-by-fours inside the kitchen. I used a mold remover in a spray bottle from Home Depot. It not only removed the mold but it made 35 + year old wood look like brand new. I think it'd be worth trying on an inconspicuous spot.
I skimmed over Scott Daniels post and would be curious to see what's inside the cleaner that I used. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the active ingredients are in parallel with the instructions that Scott gives.
    Keep up the good work.
