- I am replacing the entire front suspension on my Trailblazer after years of breaking down and failures caused by sketchy mechanics. The added weight of the bumper, winch, tires and more also played a part in my break downs.
I am replacing the Upper Control Arms, Lower Control Arms, Coils and Upgrading to sturdier Bilstein Shocks.

So your front steering and suspension will be almost brand new. Of course you’ll need an alignment after all of those repairs. Have you ever replaced the Idler Arm on your vehicle? That’s a common failure part with GM trucks. Moog makes one called the Problem Solver. Now would be the time to replace it. Your Pitman arm is fine or it would have been replaced with the steering rack. Same with the Center Link.
You need to pressure test your cooling system. You can use a set from Autozone or O’Reily’s for free. This will tell you if you have a leak in your cooling system. A wet floor mat or carpet, on the passenger side is the classic leaking heater core symptom. Heater cores are cheap, $35 or so, so when going into the dash it’s a good practice to just replace it. You have a blend door which mixes the temperature of the air entering your HVAC system. You also have a door that directs the air flow to the defroster (default position typically), the floor or both positions. You should test this function by changing the mode control switch between defrost and floor heat. You should both feel the change in temperature and hear the position of the door changing from the dash area.
A bad heater core or clogged heater core can cause the variation in temperature inside the vehicle.
A bad thermostat would be noticeable watching your Temp Gauge change as it opens and closes erratically. Thermostats are inexpensive, about $20, it’s a good idea to keep an extra AC/Delco, rated at the correct temperature, as a spare with the appropriate seals and gaskets.
i run the 88s with the .5in shim and the bilstein hd in the front with the tahoe springs in the rear and tahoe shocks
We have the same vehicle haha I've actually talked to a couple times. We continue to be doing the same repairs around the same time period I actually had these same parts sitting at my house but I'm waiting on a few more parts to be delivered
If you fail your smog test the printout will inform you of the section that can be referenced in a repair manual, I went to the DMV and they gave me passes to repair and smog, did pay my registration in Calif. My test says obo, connections to computer, I think mostly connected to throttle body. I have tested sensors and I went to harbor freight and got trying equipt, that with an plug light will test the idle mixture switch connected to the bottom of the throttle body, mine runs too rich and there is a wheel inside that may not allowing enough air in, problem mostly exits when the car reaches operating temp

Hey sweety, as much as you like being in your vehicle and traveling around have you ever thought of getting a conversion van I have a Chevy Express van and I love it, and you can have roof racks where you can put solar panels on top just I don't know if you've ever thought of that give you a lot more room
I like the ability to actually use 4 wheel drive. Some vans are 4x4 but they do not have the capability that the Trailblazer has with the perfect size chassis
