- He was a history-making thoroughbred that never won a single race in 100 starts. In a story originally broadcast June 8, 2003, Bill Geist visits Zippy Chippy (a grandson of Kentucky Derby-winner Northern Dancer), and talks with Zippy's owner, trainer and faithful companion Felix Manserrate, who never gave up on his underdog horse, as they prepared for a race at the Northampton Fairgrounds in Northampton, Mass., which ended with a surprising finish.

The trainer died in 2015 and Zippy died in 2022. I hope they're together and winning.
Zippy might not have won on the field, but won won in our hearts. RIP Zippy!
He made the record for 100 losses 😢. R.I.P. He was beautiful looking.
Damned
I really wanted him to win
I was literally cheering for Zippy out loud as he was racing. My wife came running into the living room thinking something bad had happened 😂
Maybe there is more to life than winning, like love...
Except racehorses aren't bred for love. Most end up as dog food if they don't win or bring in money. 😢 Zippy is "lucky" he was able to attempt so many races.
No tv journalist has ever made me smile as much as Bill Geist.
His son Willie is doing pretty good for himself... ;-)
Thanks. I just watched an interview with both of them on CZcams. It was a Dr Phil episode
So fun to watch this again. Zippy Chippy lived his life his way and had a long life and many fans.
People are so very cruel, there is nothing wrong with him he is just not a good race horse but he is a good horse and wonderful pet for someone who cares about him.
Zippy Chippy had a good long life. He lived out his golden years at Old Friends in New York and he passed away in 2022 at the ripe old age of 31.
so awesome. love that sweet horse
He’s gorgeous!
Beautiful story
Zippy is living his best life.
Still a beautiful animal. There was a filly in Japan that didn't have the best winning record either.
At the gate, Zippy was like, what's the rush? 😀
He passed in 2022 at the age of 31. His record was 0 and 100.
But lots of love ❤️ along the way
What a great horse! He did it his way!…..(frank is singing)
Taken from wiki
Zippy Chippy's 100th loss occurred on September 10, 2004, in the Northampton Fair at the Three County Fairgrounds. He went off at odds of 7-2, making him the second betting choice; however, Zippy Chippy finished last.
Zippy Chippy caught fire 🔥 in # 87!
Love how they played the Rocky training song when Zippy goes around the ring😂
Maybe the races Chippy won were the friends he made along the way
❤
Keep him out of the horse slaughter pipeline all the others also he is absolutely beautiful
He died on a retirement farm in 2022...
( bad english) He died at the age of 31
Go Zippy!
It's OK he tried his best he is wonderful.
A fine story from Willie Geist's old man...
The odds were good from fans betting him up (racing is para-mutual)...
You know that the owners got nothing back on stud fees (where the steady money is in horses), because he was a gelding...
😕 He may lose but he wins in ❤🐴
THE ZIPSTER ENDED HIS CAREER WITH 100 STARTS - 0 wins 8 seconds 12 thirds and had career earnings of $30,834. Rumour has it he’s still looking for a mate or even friends out on the farm…poor guy
Thus reminds me of the horse Grand Chawhee from "All Dogs go to Heaven."
GO ZIPPY🎉🎉
5:48 so what happened to the jockey on #2 in the back... right sode of the screen?? Horse #2 lost his jockey! 😆😆
0-100 but always trying. That’s a horse for the horseplayers!
Helo tuyệt vời quá ❤❤
I would bet on Zippy every time. Think about that Mr Race Course Director, think. about. that... it could have been a thing...
With a name like that, the horse feels insulted 😂😂
Is he still with us? I get the impression he missed his calling. He may not have been cut out to race, but might have done well otherwise, or even just a farm pet. Some retired racehorses make excellent jumpers, for example.
He passed in 2022 at the age of 31. His record was 0 and 100.
@@RosebudBB At least he was consistent. My understanding is 31 is a pretty good long life for a horse. That's a good track record 🙂
I really enjoyed this piece. There was no lionizing Jews, no denigrating Whites, just celebrating a horse enjoying his life.
It takes something to run a horse one hundred times when the animal has zero chance of winning. That makes no sense.
86 is too many races-poor horse!!
Looks like a loser.
I’m all in .👍
Zippy,s not sound on his left hind.and he,s had enough of all of it.give him a break.
He died in 2022 at Old Friends retirement farm. He was 31 years old..
Zippy is the Prince Harry of horses, perhaps fittingly.
I’d like to watch a horse race with climate activist. Maybe even with Greta Thumberg as a date
