When I first moved to California from Mexico, pretty shy and wouldn’t play a lot with the kids from my apartment complex. There was an old dude who used to build cars for a living, his whole livelyhood was building low riders and bad ass muscle cars back in the 80s. Anyways, this old dude once’s asked me if I wanted something to do, and he gave a monogram model of a 69 GTO, a little set of those testors paints that come in a clear pallet, and some brushes. He told me to show him when I was done. But I was just at that context while my parents closed a deal on a house so I had to leave with the model unfinished. Until I was about 14 and all my skate buddies turned to smoking weed and hanging out with some stupid gang from Whittier, I had a bunch of time in my hands. I actually found the old kit the old man gave me and it sparked my love for models. Specially WWII airplanes. I became a WWII SUPER NERD. And to this day I build my models and still my favorite plane is a B25. And yup my favorite car is intact the GTO.
Outstanding takes me back to my childhood in the late 70,s and early 80,s when I would spend hours in the local Hobby shop . Nice local family run store that always helped you and you couldn’t get out of there without wanting to buy more . Sadly most of the stores are long gone .
I built and have some of the kits. I have cars such as The 1970, 1971 Mercury Cyclone, 1971, 1972, 1973 Mercury Cougar XR-7, 1971,1972 Plymouth Roadrunner, 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1. I the above mentioned cars later in life. I remember going to the toy department of Woolworths, T G &Y, S H Kress, Grant's, and seeing all the cars, trucks, and vans.
killer tunes to go along with the great kits . i owned so many of these as a kid and i wish i still had them now . the only ones i still have today are the mopar missle pro stock duster and the butch leal california flash pro stock duster .
I was going to make a junkyard diorama using 1/25th scale models circa 1979ish. That's when I found out that the only 4 door models are a couple of police cars a fire chief's car. There are a few station wagons out there although I didn't see a single one in this video. Four door cars are the most common car in a junk yard. I guess I could get resin cast bodies. They make about anything in resin cast.
Bring back a lot of memories I had a lot of those kits as a kid. I hope Round 2 has all these molds for reissue. Great Video and I liked the sound track
Interesting that the AMX at 10:40 appears to have the '290' emblem on its rear flank instead of a bigger motor. Each emblem (290, 343, 390) had its own distinct shape. Cool picture, kinda' looks like a Le Mans type setup in the rain with the AMX with California tags chasing down the others.

Maybe you can help me out. I am doing a video on the history of the MPC company. I have already done ERTL and AMT. Outside of Star Wars what are the highlight kits and how does MPC stack up to AMT kits?
The Doug Nash Bronco Buster kit 2:21 was a fake kit and never produced. I think there was a resin body and decals and when combined with a late '60s (Polar Lights) funny car kit chassis, you could have a replica.
Great video... these would make a great collection. By the way, what is the first track please... That is some lovely Gitter? Best wishes and stay safe mate. Model-Makers of the world unite.. SUBSCRIBED 🇬🇧
How can I get hold of that 71 impala. I own a real 71 that is built up and I want to build a model of it. Can’t find anywhere. Anyone know where please respond.
I used to cut grass when I was a kid and every time I got paid which was about 5 or 10 dollars a week depending on the weather I'd run straight to the model shop and buy one of these kits especially the NASCAR models please re issue these I'd buy all I could

These are the kits that need to be reissued instead of what's been reissued you'd see this flying off the shelves in no time flat
Maybe you can help me out. I am doing a video on the history of the MPC company. I have already done ERTL and AMT. Outside of Star Wars what are the highlight kits and how does MPC stack up to AMT kits?
Dam do i remember! My dad had a body shop and all i did was build model cars
What!!! Fonzies' dream rod is actually the "Monkeymobile"... That's kinda weird.
Would give anything for those kits back
I still have the Killer 'Cuda.
Hi, you missed the dodge Demon & Roger lindamoods 68 Dodge Charger funny car. The too most valueable kits
The Doug Nash Bronco Buster kit 2:21 was a fake kit and never produced. I think there was a resin body and decals and when combined with a late '60s (Polar Lights) funny car kit chassis, you could have a replica.

do you own them or do you just looked for pictures?
That's not the Fonz Dream Rod, that is the Monkees Mobile from the 60s smh.
Mpc had 1/25 scale vs 1/24 scale so models were smaller less bang for the buck also as i recall the kits quality wasnt the best.
What the heck is that tune? The whole soundtrack
"soundtrack" more like shit noise
I miss my Dick Trickle model car!
How can I get hold of that 71 impala. I own a real 71 that is built up and I want to build a model of it. Can’t find anywhere. Anyone know where please respond.
awesome kits but whos music
you missed my favorite. the 69 falcon racecar...
@Robert Darnell yeah. i had a weakness for falcons. built a few
I used to cut grass when I was a kid and every time I got paid which was about 5 or 10 dollars a week depending on the weather I'd run straight to the model shop and buy one of these kits especially the NASCAR models please re issue these I'd buy all I could
to bad so many of them in fit and detail they lacked so much and the colors they were molded in was a real down fall .
This music is very lunk headed and stupid .
Al Midon
